Capcom will re-release Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for the PS4, Xbox One this Fall

Capcom has announced plans to re-release Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for the PS4 and Xbox One this Fall, adding yet another remaster to the publisher’s current-generation catalog.

Dragon’s Dogma was originally released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, with the Dark Arisen expansion (and a new retail bundle containing both adventures) following a year later. The action RPG is reminiscent of other “monster hunting” games that have gained popularity in recent years, and the Capcom-Unity blog has more details about Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen’s upcoming re-release, as well as a few screenshots:

Well met, Arisens! ‘Tis a grand time of celebration: Dragon’s Dogma was originally released five years ago this week, and we are bringing the beloved Action RPG experience of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this fall!

Featuring a variety of unique classes, a robust system of AI-controlled companions called Pawns and intense real-time combat from the designers behind the Devil May Cry series, this epic masterwork took our hearts by surprise and quickly became a fan-favorite.

Capcom-Unity is also hosting a livestream replay of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, and you can watch it on their Twitch channel beginning at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time) today.

Overwatch Anniversary event is now live with over 100 new Anniversary-themed items

It’s hard to believe that Overwatch only launched a year ago, because it feels like Blizzard’s team-based “Hero Shooter” has always been with us. But a year it has been, and Blizzard kicked off a massive in-game event today, Overwatch Anniversary, to celebrate.

Like previous seasonal events, players will be able to obtain more than 100 new Anniversary-themed items in special Anniversary Loot Boxes. These Loot Boxes will feature new Legendary Skins, as well as new Voice Lines, Sprays, Player Icons, and a series of “dancing” Emotes. You can get a look at the new Skins and Emotes (including a very smooth Winston shuffle) at PlayOverwatch.com.

Three new Arena Maps will also make their debut in the Arcade as part of the Overwatch Anniversay event:

New Arena Maps in Overwatch Anniversary

  • Necropolis: Ana Amari has made Necropolis her personal hideout—and an impromptu field base where she can keep an eye on things. Head to Ana’s preferred vantage point at the top of the ruins, and use the high ground (and the element of surprise) against the enemy team. Or walk the stone corridors below, and take the fight to them directly—just watch out for pits!
  • Castillo: Castillo is an old fort looking out over Dorado’s bay. It’s the location of Calaveras, a bar frequented by questionable patrons; a graffitied Los Muertos hangout; and Sombra’s hacking den. Test your skills against the enemy team throughout Castillo’s multiple levels, and use its winding stairs for cover and strategic advantage.
  • Black Forest: On the outskirts of Eichenwalde, the misty Black Forest map wraps around a long-overlooked battlefield dotted with the wreckage of Bastion units.
Flank your opponents on pathways between the castle and woods, and use the wooden balconies to move between the second stories of houses throughout the forest.

Finally, Blizzard has uploaded new Patch Notes for Overwatch’s latest update, as well as a new trailer for the Overwatch Anniversary event and a new “Developer Update” video hosted by Director Jeff Kaplan. Both videos can be found after the break.

The Overwatch Anniversary event will end on June 12, but remember, fans who don’t already own the game can try it out for free this weekend on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Spider-Man’s Tom Holland will star as a young Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie

Brace yourself… the Uncharted film adaptation is undergoing yet another writer switch.

Joe Carnahan turned in a completed draft of an Uncharted film adaptation back in January, and filming was expected to begin this Summer with Shawn LevyAc in the director’s chair. While Levy is staying with the production, Carnahan’s script has been tossed out in favor of a “Young Nathan Drake” story that’ll feature Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Tom Holland as a teenage version of the adventurer.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is currently searching for a new writer to pen the screenplay. The report also claims that Tom Rothman, the Chairman of Sony Pictures, instigated the change after viewing an early cut of Holland’s performance in Spider-Man: Homecoming and finding inspiration in a similar “Young Nathan Drake” level that Naughty Dog included in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Nathan Drake’s video game career came to an end last Spring with the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, but Naughty Dog plans to continue the series with a standalone spinoff, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, for the PS4 on August 22.

It’s 2017 and Adventure Games Are Mainstream Again

“What kind of video games do you play?” It’s a broad question that I often find myself faced with, to which I’d respond “adventure games.” That answer is then followed with an exhausting amount of game name dropping, that, in most cases, have nothing to do with the type of games I’m talking about. “You mean, like Zelda?” Not quite.

The easiest way to reiterate what I’m talking about is by calling them “point-and-click” adventure games, which is a genre and style of game most notable on the PC in the mid- to early 90s. It’s a genre that was also declared dead after the commercial failure of the critically acclaimed Grim Fandango; a genre that, over the past few years, has slowly but surely been coming back into the mainstream.

Rockstar delays Red Dead Redemption 2 to Spring 2018

We haven’t heard much about Red Dead Redemption 2 since Rockstar Games announced the western sequel late last year… and now we know why. Today, the publisher confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t be released in Fall 2017 as originally planned. Instead, the game will now launch for the PS4 and Xbox One in Spring 2018.

In a statement, a Rockstar Games representative pinned the delay on the development team’s desire to create the “best experience possible”:

This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready

In addition to the delay, Rockstar also promised that more details about Red Dead Redemption 2 would be revealed this Summer. And they also unveiled seven new screenshots from the game, which can be found after the break.
