Nintendo Download: Disney Magical World 2, Severed, Animal Crossing Wild World, more

The Nintendo eShop is the happiest place on Earth this week…

Developed by Bandai Namco and published by Nintendo, Disney Magical World 2 makes its debut on the 3DS eShop this week, giving players the chance to explore the Magic Kingdom with Mickey, Elsa, the Disney Princesses, and many others.

The 3DS eShop will receive a second dose of magic this week with Severed, DrinkBox’s highly-acclaimed touchscreen title which stars a one-armed warrior “who wields a living sword on her journey through a nightmare world.” Players interested in purchasing Severed on the 3DS will also receive access to a Wii U download of the game (and the 3DS version is free for everyone who already owns it on the Wii U).

Finally, a pair of DS classics are now available to download for the Wii U. Animal Crossing: Wild World was originally released in 2005, and it brought the “social simulation” series to new heights. Kirby: Canvas Curse, a 2005 platformer where players control Kirby with a stylus, is also new to the eShop this week.

Additional details on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break.

Telltale’s Batman series will continue with Episode 3 on October 25

batmantelltale-header

Telltale Games has announced that Batman: The Telltale Series will continue this month with the upcoming launch of Episode 3: New World Order on October 25. Episode 3 will be available to download for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and it looks like it’ll add a new set of wrinkles to the lives of Batman, The Penguin, Harvey Dent, and Selina Kyle:

In Episode 3, Penguin’s brutal attack broadcast on live TV has left Gotham City reeling. As Bruce and Batman, you’ll dig deeper into the web of intrigue surrounding the newly revealed Children of Arkham. Meanwhile, behind closed doors, the mysterious Selina Kyle reveals more of herself to Bruce. And in the aftermath of the attack, Bruce’s friend and Gotham’s new mayor, Harvey Dent, is a deeply changed man. Who can be trusted when the future of Bruce Wayne – and the Batman – could be determined by the flip of a coin?

Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 3: New World Order will also be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile devices, but a release date will be announced at a later date.

Xbox Store Today: Duke Nukem 3D, WWE 2K17, Gears of War 4, more

Re-releases and remasters have been extremely popular over the last few years, but I have to admit, I never imagined Duke Nukem 3D would receive a new deluxe package from Gearbox Software. Yet, here we are, and Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour is now available to download for the Xbox One. In addition to the groundbreaking first person shooter from 1996, 20th Anniversary World Tour includes a new Episode from the original designers, new music from the game’s original composer, and new “Duke Talk” from the original voice of Duke Nukem.

Xbox One owners looking for more new titles on the Xbox Games Store might also be interested in Gears of War 4, which is now available to download without all the “Ultimate Edition” extras. The standard version of the game will still include a brand new campaign starring JD Fenix and his friends, the Horde 3.0 cooperative multiplayer mode, and a free copy of the game for Windows 10 PCs.

If you’d rather wrestle with some human-sized behemoths, WWE 2K17 is now available to download for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 this week. The latest wrestling sim from 2K Games will feature “the most authentic WWE gameplay ever” and “the biggest roster of WWE and NXT Superstars and Legends to date.”

We started with an unlikely re-release, and we end with a pair of “Game of the Year” style collections. Square Enix will bundle together Rise of the Tomb Raider, all of its DLC, and some brand new content in a special 20 Year Celebration Edition. And Konami will relaunch Hideo Kojima’s final entry in the Metal Gear Solid saga as Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, which will include Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain, and all the previously-released DLC in a new compilation.

More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break.

New Prey trailer introduces us to “Another Morgan Yu”

Bethesda and Arkane Austin recently released a new trailer for Prey, but it may look familiar to fans who previously viewed the QuakeCon 2016 trailer. But there’s a good reason for that.

Prey gives players the option to choose the main character’s gender, and while previous trailers depicted Morgan Yu as a man, this new trailer offers a glimpse at what the game will sound like if Morgan is a woman.

Prey takes place on a space station that has been overrun by a hostile alien life force, and it’ll be available next year for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

PlayStation VR launch games, Dragon Quest Builders, WWE 2K17, more added to PS Store

playstationVRIt’s a big week for Sony as the consolemaker is all set to launch the PlayStation VR headset this Thursday, October 13. Naturally, their splashy hardware launch will be joined by an equally impressive slate of new software including Batman: Arkham VR, DriveClub VR, Rez Infinite, and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League. All told, more than two dozen titles compatible with PlayStation VR will soon to be available to download from the PlayStation Store.

That includes Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, which made its PS4 debut this week after a year of Xbox One/PC exclusivity. In addition to including all the previously-released DLC to Lara Croft’s latest adventure, Crystal Dynamics added a special chapter that players will be able to explore using Sony’s virtual reality headset.

For those who plan to pass over PlayStation VR, there’s still plenty of big new releases on the PlayStation Store this week, and that includes Dragon Quest Builders (PS4), Square Enix’s Minecraft-like action RPG; WWE 2K17 (PS4, PS3), the latest wrestling sim from 2K Games; and Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour (PS4), a re-release of the famed first person shooter.

And speaking of re-releases, Konami will bring Hideo Kojima’s Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain together in a single package as Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, and Rockstar will add Red Dead Revolver to the list of PS2-On-PS4 titles.

More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And a full rundown of this week’s new add-ons and discounts is available at the PlayStation Blog.

Cuphead’s release date bounces to Mid-2017

cuphead-header

Studio MDHR has announced that Cuphead, a side-scrolling shooter that borrows its look from 1930s cartoons, won’t be released by the end of the year as originally planned. Writing on their official website, the developer announced that Cuphead will now be available sometime in the late Spring or early Summer of 2017:

Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.

Cuphead originally debuted at E3 2014 as a “Boss Rush” shooter before Studio MDHR revealed the addition of “run and gun” platforming levels earlier this year.

Blizzard launches a new seasonal event for Overwatch… “Halloween Terror”

Blizzard has announced that “Halloween Terror,” the latest seasonal event for Overwatch, began today. Players who take part in the horror-themed contest will be able to jump into a unique PvE scenario, and collect special “Halloween 2016” items like “profile icons, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, skins, and more!”

According to the Overwatch Blog, players will get to blast “zomnics” in a special Horde Mode that feels a bit like Army of Darkness:

As told in our “Junkenstein” digital comic, this terrifying tale follows Dr. Jamison Junkenstein, an inventor and scientist who was once employed by the Lord of Adlersbrunn. Junkenstein’s dream was to create artificial life, but the Lord of Adlersbrunn mocked the scientist and his creations, calling him a fool and dismissing him from service. Slighted, Junkenstein vowed to prove the lord wrong, and when an unexpected visitor showed up and offered the key to perfecting his creation, Junkenstein’s Monster was born.

Now Junkenstein plans his revenge against the Lord of Adlersbrunn, and only four heroes stand in the way.

Players will choose from the Alchemist (Ana), the Archer (Hanzo), the Gunslinger (McCree), or the Soldier (Soldier: 76) and defend Adlersbrunn castle’s doors against Dr. Junkenstein’s onslaught! Heroes will need to work together and develop strategies to withstand not only the advances of his macabre entourage, but also wave after wave of zomnic attacks.

“Halloween Terror” will be available until November 1, and Blizzard plans to seal the “Halloween 2016” item collection in the vault after its conclusion. So don’t hesitate to try it out if you’re interesting in obtaining some terrifying (and terrific) new loot for your favorite Overwatch character.
