Sony answered a call made by many fans tonight, as during their 2016 E3 Press Conference they announced the first three PlayStation games in the Crash Bandicoot franchise (Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped) are getting fully remastered for the PS4. Unfortunately, no release date or footage was shown for the upcoming games, but gamers of all ages are understandably excited nonetheless.
Additionally, Crash will make an appearance this year in Skylanders Imaginators on the PS4 and PS3. Check out a trailer for his debut in the sixth Skylanders game above.
Sony’s next big thing, the PlayStation VR, made a splash during their 2016 E3 Press Conference. Firstly, the consolemaker announced that the virtual reality headset will be released on October 13, 2016 at a price point of $399. Sony also showed off several trailers for upcoming VR projects, including a few surprises.
So be sure to take a look at trailers for Batman: Arkam VR, the first person shooter Farpoint, Here They Lie, and Star Wars: Battlefront – X-Wing VR Mission after the break.
Wow, this was certainly a surprise! I had no idea what to expect, and was blown away. Capcom debuted a trailer for Resident Evil 7 during Sony’s E3 Press Conference, and it looks to bring things back to true survival horror.
The trailer, shown in first-person mode, begins with your unknown character waking up in a dilapidated house. A phone rings, telling you to get out or “they” will kill you. The character walks around, inspecting his surroundings, when suddenly… well I’ll let you see for yourself, but it looks very scary.
Not only will Resident Evil 7 be released for the PS4 on January 24, 2017, but it also supports PlayStation VR. We’ll post more when we hear it, but in the meantime here’s the trailer.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human, but the PS4 game isn’t just about an android named Kara anymore.
Detroit: Become Human will also star an android police detective named Connor. In this E3 2016 trailer, Connor tries to stop another android who has taken a human child hostage, and there appears to be a lot of different outcomes depending on player choice. It almost looks like a futuristic, Heavy Rain meets LA Noire meets Blade Runner game.
Detroit: Become Human doesn’t currently have a release date.
Last year, Bandai Namco confirmed that Tekken 7 would be released for the PS4 and “other home consoles” in the near future. Today, the publisher has made it official and revealed the fighting game will make its debut on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Early 2017.
Developed under the supervision of Franchise Director Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and feature a bevy of new characters such as Kazumi Mishima, Claudio, Josie, Shaheen, Katarina, Lucky Chloe, Gigas, and Street Fighter‘s Akuma. The home version of Tekken 7 will also include a Story Mode not found in the arcade edition.
“We’re excited to bring one of the most celebrated and hardcore competitive fighting games to the Xbox One and PC gaming audiences.” said Eric Hartness, the Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America. “Tekken 7 is poised to heat up the eSports scene and taking it to Xbox One and PC audiences will further expand the pool of talented competitive tournament players nationwide. With Tekken 7 we’re focused on electrifying the competitive fighting game tournament circuit with the hardest hitting Tekken game yet.”
To celebrate Tekken 7’s announcement, Bandai Namco will offer a free download of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers from now until Tuesday, June 21, at 6:00 AM (Eastern Time). Tekken Tag 2 was originally released for the Xbox 360, but it is also playable on the Xbox One thanks to the console’s backwards compatibility features.
During their 2016 E3 Press Conference, Sony once again demoed Guerrilla’s Horizon: Zero Dawn, showing the game’s heroine hunting mechanical hybrid animals. We also learned that the PS4 game features a conversation wheel, and that you can ride certain animals. Stealth kills, and a rather detailed weapon wheel also made an appearance in the trailer. The demo culminated in an intense battle with a very powerful creature. This is one I am definitely looking forward to.
Horizon: Zero Dawn was originally scheduled to be released this Fall, but Sony pushed it back to February 2017 a few days before E3 began.
In what has become a Sony E3 tradition, we were treated to yet another trailer for The Last Guardian, the publisher’s very own Duke Nukem Forever. But this time, we finally have a release date. The Last Guardian will officially launch for the PlayStation 4 on October 25, 2016.
In the meantime, check out the E3 2016 trailer above.
The next title in Sony’s cavalcade of game announcements at E3 2016 was Days Gone for the PS4. The title looks to be a post-apocalyptic game set largely in the wilderness, and your character is a motorcycle-riding bounty hunter who, according to the narration, has quite the soft side.
Later during the conference, Sony Bend live-demoed the game. The main character salvages parts and gets into a fight with another survivor. A swarm of zombies/mutants appears and hunts down our hero. Hundreds of enemies on screen at once. Very intense. Reminds me of 28 Days Later, but see for yourself.
