A Day-By-Day Guide to All of 2016’s New Video Games (January – March)

After years and years of publishers packing the September through November “Holiday” season with an unmanageable number of new AAA titles, we might get a much more balanced release calendar in 2016. But can you believe it all happened by accident?
Video game fans have always had to deal with delays, but publishers got even more use out of their erasers than normal in 2015. Aside from the one-two punch of Fallout 4‘s E3 2015 announcement, and its eventual release on November 10th, no game felt safe… and more than a few big titles got pushed into 2016. So now we get to ring in 2016 with a release calendar that just might offer up something exciting all year long.
Are you ready? Because here… we… go… (more…)

Far Cry: Primal takes the series to the Stone Age on February 23, 2016
One of the most common complaints you’ll hear from gamers nowadays is that more first person shooters should step away from the “modern warfare” setting. Ubisoft heard their cries and is using the next entry in the Far Cry franchise to get as far away from modern as you possibly can.
Far Cry: Primal will take players back to the Stone Age, forcing them to come face-to-face with long-instinct beasts like the woolly mammoth and sabertooth tiger. Taking control of Takkar, players will have to hunt these animals in order to survive and build a better life for his tribemates:
Gamers play as Takkar, a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group. Arriving in the majestic and savage land of Oros, players will pursue one single goal; survive in a world where humans are the prey. They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild. Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. Along the way, they will have to hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators, craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros.
Ubisoft has also announced plans to bring a demo of Far Cry: Primal to the PlayStation Experience in San Francisco this December. If you don’t think you’ll be able to make your way to Sony’s big show, Ubisoft is offering to send two people to the City by the Bay through a contest on the official Far Cry website.
Far Cry: Primal is currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, and is is expected to be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 23. A behind-the-scenes video detailing some of the early design work has been embedded after the break. (more…)
