All Articles: Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

Nintendo Download: Persona Q, Thomas Was Alone, Mighty Gunvolt, more

personaq-3dsxlThe folks working the counter at Nintendo’s eShop aren’t taking the day off and have laid out a bountiful Thanksgiving spread of nearly a dozen new games.

This week, the Persona series comes to the 3DS for the first time as Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is now available for Nintendo’s handheld. The portable system is also now home to Mighty Gunvolt, a retro-styled side-scrolling shooter from Inti Creates, one of the developers behind the upcoming Mighty No. 9.

Indie platformer Thomas Was Alone will make its Wii U debut this week alongside a few classics from Nintendo’s earlier eras including Mario Pinball Land and Mighty Final Fight (also available for the 3DS)

More information on all of these games (and a few others) can be found after the break. And don’t forget about Nintendo’s Cyber Deals, which are available starting today and going through Tuesday, December 2. (more…)

New Releases: Persona Q, Geometry Wars 3, Akiba’s Trip PS4, More

personaq-3dsxlBlack Friday (and the more-or-less unofficial end to the Fall game rush) is just a few days away, but there’s still a handful of new releases to talk about this week.

For example, Atlus will bring its popular Persona series of RPGs to the 3DS with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The quirky Japanese publisher will also release Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, a brawler where teenagers strip down to battle vampires in the heart of Tokyo, for the PS4 this week.

But this week’s biggest new release (in my opinion, anyway) is Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions. Activision and Lucid Games will release the twin-stick shooter for the PC, as well as the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Finally this week, the Penguins of Madagascar will waddle over to the 3DS, Wii, and Wii U and IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, the latest game in the dogfighting sim series, will be released for the PC.

Nintendo shows off new 3DS XL models based on an NES controller, Smash Bros, Persona Q

supersmashbros-3dsxlNintendo just announced three new models for the popular 3DS XL. The first is the previously Japan-only and North American-rumored Super Smash Bros. For 3DS model. This version of Nintendo’s handheld, releasing on September 19th, comes in both red and blue and features the game’s fighters on the cover. If you notice, that’s several weeks before the launch of the game so this bundle, which is priced at $199.99, will not include Super Smash Bros. For 3DS.

personaq-3dsxlNext up is the Persona Q Edition, a 3DS XL model based on Atlus’ upcoming game Persona Q: Shadow of the Labrynth. As you can see, the hardware is painted with Persona’s Grimoire tome, and includes character art on the back. This system is set for release on November 25th and is a GameStop-exclusive. Once again, the handheld has been priced at $199.99 and does not include a copy of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labrynth.

nes-3dsxlThe final new 3DS XL model, the NES Edition, is based on the original NES controller. The system’s box itself is decorated to resemble the NES system. The NES Edition is another GameStop exclusive and will be available through the retailer (for $199.99) on October 10th.

“More than 12 million systems in the Nintendo 3DS family have been sold in the U.S. alone,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “These new models give shoppers even more choices during the holiday shopping season. Based on past experience, these special editions likely won’t stay on shelves for very long.

Also, to clear up any potential confusion, these new 3DS XL models are NOT the “New 3DS” systems that Nintendo recently announced for the Japanese market. The Super Smash Bros. Edition, the NES Edition, and the Persona Q Edition are all the same 3DS XL systems that we’ve been playing for over two years.
