We hope you’ve been flexing your Pokemon muscles this year with Pokemon Go, because Nintendo and Game Freak are getting ready to launch Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun this week for the 3DS. The latest game in the long-running franchise will take place in the Alola region (which is based on Hawaii), and introduce a few dozen new Pokemon to players.

Also available on store shelves this week is Watch Dogs 2, the latest game in Ubisoft’s series of hacktivist open world titles. This time, players will travel to San Francisco and join up with Marcus Holloway, a hacker who is working to take down the latest version of ctOS.

Elsewhere in your favorite game store this week, you’ll find a bunch of re-releases. Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection will bring together all three games starring Ezio Auditore (Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations) in a new collection for the PS4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, EA will package together Star Wars: Battlefront and all of its post-launch downloadable content in Star Wars: Battlefront – Ultimate Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One. Finally, Image & Form will release a retail-ready two-pack of SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist for the Wii U as SteamWorld Collection.

Pokemon Sun and Moon demo will be available on October 18; New trailer reveals evolved forms of Starter Pokemon

If Pokemon Go has rekindled your desire for a new “main series” Pokemon game, then I’m sure you’re absolutely giddy about Pokemon Sun and Moon‘s impending launch. But you won’t have to wait until November 18 to try it out on your 3DS, because Nintendo and Game Freak will release a special demo for the game through the 3DS eShop on October 18.

Pokemon Sun and Moon’s “Special Demo Version” will introduce players to the game’s Alola region and features Ash-Greninja, a Pokemon that appears alongside Ash in Ash in the Pokemon XYZ animated series. Players who complete the demo will even be able to use Ash-Greninja in Pokemon Sun and Moon after its release.

In addition to the demo, a new trailer has revealed several new features for the game, including the evolved forms for the three Starter Pokemon. Another new feature that Pokemon players can expect to see is Festival Plaza, which will connect players with others playing online to battle, work together, and trade. Finally, the Poke Pelago lets Pokemon stored in a PC Box develop by exploring islands and tackling activities and challenges.

The trailer has been embedded above, and you can all about the evolved forms of the Starter Pokemon after the break. (more…)

Meet two new Legendary Pokemon in latest Pokemon Sun/Moon trailer

The Pokemon Company and Nintendo introduced fans to a pair of Legendary Pokemon in a new trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon.

In addition to the new Pokemon, the trailer includes a look at the Alola region, which is the Hawaii-like series of islands where the game takes place. Several new characters also make their debut in the trailer, including Professor Kukui, who will serve as your mentor in the game alongside his young lab assistant, Lillie. Players will also meet Hau, the Trainer’s best friend, and the Rotom Pokedex, which has a personality of its own.

But first, let’s say hello to the Legendary Pokemon, Solgaleo and Lunala:

Name: Solgaleo
Category: Sunne Pokemon
Height: 11′02″
Weight: 507.1 lbs.
Type: Psychic/Steel
Ability: Full Metal Body
Honored as an emissary of the sun since ancient times, Solgaleo is referred to with reverence as “the beast that devours the sun.” Solgaleo’s body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it is active. It has a flowing mane with a remarkable resemblance to the sun. Its signature move is Sunsteel Strike, an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, disregarding the target’s Ability. Solgaleo’s Ability is Full Metal Body, a new Ability that no previous Pokemon has had. With the Full Metal Body Ability, a Pokemon’s stats will not be lowered by the effects of an opponent’s moves or Ability.

Name: Lunala
Category: Moone Pokemon
Height: 13′01″
Weight: 264.6 lbs.
Type: Psychic/Ghost
Ability: Shadow Shield
Since ancient times, Lunala has been honored as an emissary of the moon. Referred to with reverence as “the beast that calls the moon,” Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy. With its wings spread to absorb the surrounding light and glittering like the crescent moon, it resembles a beautiful night sky. Lunala’s signature Moongeist Beam attack releases an ominous beam of light that disregards the target’s Ability. Lunala’s Ability is Shadow Shield, a new Ability that no previous Pokemon has had. With the Shadow Shield Ability, a Pokemon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokemon has full HP.

While Nintendo’s E3 focus remains on The Legend of Zelda Wii U/NX, the consolemaker also plans to debut the first live gameplay footage from Pokemon Sun and Moon during a Nintendo Treehouse program on June 14. You can watch along at home through E3.Nintendo.com, and don’t forget, Pokemon Sun and Moon will be released for the 3DS on November 18.

Pokemon Sun/Moon will be released on November 18; Starter Pokemon revealed

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have announced that Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will be released for the 3DS on November 18. The two companies also unveiled a brand new trailer that introduces fans to the game’s starter Pokemon:

Name: Rowlet
Category: Grass Quill Pokemon
Height: 1’00”
Weight: 3.3 Pounds
Type: Grass/Flying
Starting Move: Leafage
The first of the potential partners is the highly adaptable Grass Quill Pokemon, Rowlet. This Pokemon can fly silently through the skies, sneaking up on its opponent without being noticed. It can attack its opponents using powerful kicks, and it can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers. Rowlet can survey its environment and turn its neck nearly 180 degrees from front to back, so it can see directly behind itself. When in battle, Rowlet turns its head to face its Trainer when waiting for instructions.

Name: Litten
Category: Fire Cat Pokemon
Height: 1’04”
Weight: 9.5 Pounds
Type: Fire
Starting Move: Ember
The cool-headed Fire Cat Pokemon, Litten, is the next choice for a first-partner Pokemon. Litten’s fur is rich in oils and is immensely flammable. It constantly grooms itself by licking its coat, collecting loose fur into balls. It then ignites these hairballs to create fireball attacks. When the time comes for Litten to molt, it burns off all of its fur in one glorious blaze.

Name: Popplio
Category: Sea Lion Pokemon
Height: 1’04”
Weight: 16.5 Pounds
Type: Water
Starting Move: Water Gun
The third possibility is the acrobatic Sea Lion Pokemon, Popplio. Popplio can create balloons made of water from its nose and utilize them to create a variety of different strategies and attacks in battle. This Pokemon is better at moving in the water than on land, and can swim at speeds over 25 mph. On land, it uses the elasticity of the balloons it creates to perform jumps and acrobatic stunts.

A fiery Cat Pokemon that tosses exploding hairballs. Somewhere, Warp Zoned’s resident Pokemon fanatic/crazy cat lady just lost her mind.
