Activision reveals more 007 Legends missions

In all the time they have held the James Bond license, Activision has never been able to top the critical and commercial success of Rare’s GoldenEye 007, even when they remade the game, as GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, last year. However, they might have a shot with their new game, 007 Legends, which will tie together various missions from Bond’s fifty years of cinematic history spanning 23 films.

Joining the missions already announced are two from the more modern era; the finale from Timothy Dalton’s Licence to Kill, and the Ice Hotel mission from Pierce Brosnan’s swansong, Die Another Day. The latter will see Bond teamed with Agent Jinx (Halle Berry) as they race through the melting ice palace while avoiding the deadly Icarus Solar Array. That mission will conclude with a confrontation against North Korean bad guy-turned-ginger toff, Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens).

The Licence to Kill level will see Bond destroying the drug factory of evil Mexican drug lord Fran Sanchez, and joining forces with DEA agent Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) to kill Sanchez in revenge for the death of CIA agent and friend Felix Leiter. It has also been announced that Toby Stephens and Carey Lowell will lend their thespian vocals to the new game, although no word yet on Halle Berry.

It will be very interesting to see how Activision ties all the missions from Bond’s history together, given that the character exists in a paradoxical bubble; for example, Felix Leiter dies in Licence To Kill but is alive in well in the new slate of films. Let us hope they can finally shrug off the GoldenEye shroud and give us a cracking game that will leave us shaken (but not stirred).

Daniel Craig leads 007 Legends voice cast

Activision’s upcoming Bond game, 007 Legends, is said to be the first game based on the superspy’s exploits that ties together the storylines from multiple movies. So appropriately, Activision has signed up voice actors from across the series.

As expected, Skyfall star Daniel Craig will once again step up to voice James Bond’s smooth wit and cool one liners. He’ll be joined by Rory Kinnear, who’ll reprise his role as MI6’s Chief of Staff, Bill Tanner. A third Skyfall cast member, Naomie Harris, will also make an appearance in the game.

Besides Skyfall, the villainous duo from Moonraker will be well represented in 007 Legends. Michael Lonsdale will return to voice Hugo Drax and Richard Kiel will play the (mostly) mute Jaws.

The words these actors speak will come from screenwriter Bruce Feirstein, who has quite the history with the Bond franchise himself. Feirstein wrote GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World Is Not Enough as well as the Bond games Everything or Nothing, From Russia With Love, Blood Stone, and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded.

Finally, Activision has recruited David Arnold (Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies) and Kevin Kiner to compose the soundtrack for 007 Legends.

007 Legends to include On Her Majesty’s Secret Service mission

Man, Activision is really stretching the definition of “classic” Bond movies, aren’t they?

Yesterday, the publisher announced the second movie-based mission for 007 Legends: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The film was George Lazenby’s only outing as Bond and the first not to star Sean Connery. It is also a huge point of contention among fans, as some consider it the best movie in the series while others think its the worst.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service joins the previously announced Moonraker as mission locations in 007 Legends. Three more films will eventually be added to the game. Activision also plans to add a sixth mission, based on the upcoming Skyfall, to the game as a free download. Originally, the Skyfall mission was going to be included on the disc, so I’m very curious as to the reason for this change.

007 Legends will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 16.

Bond’s first mission in 007: Legends is Moonraker

Did you ever see Moonraker? Quick! What’s the most memorable thing from the movie? If you said anything other than “Jaws gets lucky,” you’ve got a better memory for terrible cinema than I do. Although, to be fair, it did also include a Bond girl whose name was a single-entendre, Dr. Holly Goodhead.

But if you need a Moonraker refresher course, check out the first trailer above from 007: Legends, which now includes Moonraker as the first of Bond’s six missions in the game. Well, I guess technically it’s the second mission revealed as Activision previously announced the game would end with a Skyfall-inspired mission.

Oh, and speaking of Skyfall, the first trailer for the 23rd Bond film is also now online. So be sure to give it a watch!

007: Legends will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 16. Which is just three and a half weeks ahead of the movie’s November 9 premiere.

Activision bringing 007 Legends to PS3, Xbox 360 this Fall

It’s taken a bit longer than expected, but Daniel Craig will slip back into the quick wit and debonair dress of James Bond this November in the Sam Mendes-directed Skyfall. But he won’t be going it alone. In addition to the return of Q, Activision has some gadgeteering of their own in the works with the Eurocom-developed 007 Legends.

007 Legends will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this Fall. The game will tie together the stories from six classic Bond movies in an overarching plot that concludes with the events of Skyfall.

“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing. “Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”

As you’d expect from a Bond, 007 Legends will include 4-player splitscreen play as well as an online multiplayer mode. The popular Mi6 Ops Missions mode (that was first featured in GoldenEye 007: Reloaded) will also make a return appearance in 007 Legends.
