All Articles: Azure Striker Gunvolt
Side-scroll into this week’s Nintendo eShop update, which includes several new games for the Nintendo Switch…
Inti Creates originally released Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 on the 3DS, and now the side-scrolling platformers have made their way to the Switch in a single package. The Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack includes higher resolution graphics, improved framerates, HD Rumble support, Pro Controller support, and all previously-released downloadable content.
Looking further out, WB Games will release Lego Worlds for the Switch on Tuesday. Players will get the chance to rebuild the world in a Minecraft-like sandbox made entirely out of Lego bricks.
Finally, Switch owners will be able to step up to the plate in RBI Baseball 2017 on Tuesday. RBI Baseball 2017 will feature 30 authentic ballparks and advanced stat tracking in a retro-styled package.
You can learn more about all of these games (and a few other new releases) after the break. (more…)
Inti Creates has announced plans to bring the Azure Striker Gunvolt series of side-scrolling shooters to the Switch this August with the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack. The Striker Pack will include both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, and it’ll feature a number of improvements over the previously-released 3DS version.
Switch owners who purchase the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack will be able to experience the games with higher resolution graphics, improved framerates, HD Rumble support, Pro Controller support, all of the previously-released downloadable content, and a brand new theme song.
Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack will be released for the Nintendo Switch on Augusr 31, and a new trailer for the compilation’s upcoming relaunch has been embedded above.
After a brief surge in September, the “Fall Gaming Season” continues to ramp up with a trickle of big new releases during this first week of October.
It’s likely that none of this week’s new games will be bigger than Gears of War 4, which Microsoft is releasing in an Ultimate Edition ahead of its official launch next week. Fans will return to Sera alongside a new generation of heroes on the PC and Xbox One, and they’ll do it in style. The Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4 will include a copy of the game, the Season Pass, and download codes for all four Gears of War games on the Xbox 360 (and yes, they’re backwards compatible).
If you’re looking to upgrade your Xbox One experience, Microsoft will also offer an Xbox One S 2TB + Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Console Bundle that includes a digital copy of the game, the Season Pass, download codes for the Xbox 360’s Gears of War title, and a custom “Crimson Omen” Xbox One S and Controller.
Not to be outdone, 2K Games will launch it’s own action epic that focuses on a new generation with Mafia III. Set to be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Mafia III is set more than 20 years after the second game in the franchise and relocates the action to New Bordeaux, a stand-in for New Orleans. Mixing the cultural upheaval caused by the Vietnam War with era-appropriate music, 2K wants to give a different kind of organized crime experience with Mafia III.
If you’re looking for something a bit more colorful, Nintendo will release Paper Mario: Color Splash for the Wii U this week. The RPG gives Mario a Paint Hammer and asks him to restore color to Prism Island. I don’t know if Nintendo was trying to make a comment on the current state of AAA games, but releasing Color Splash on the same day as Gears of War 4 is a rather obvious bit of counter-programming.
Finally this week, a trio of lower-profile games will be available on store shelves including Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack (a compilation of the 3DS platform shooter series from Inti Creates), Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide (a co-op survival game set in the Warhammer universe for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One), and Rocksmith 2014 Remastered (an updated version of the music tutor for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One).
That’s it for now, but we’ll be back later this week with details on all the new downloadable additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.
Developer Inti Creates has announced they’re teaming up with Yacht Club Games to release Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack for the 3DS.
Announced this weekend at the 2016 Anime Expo, the Striker Pack will include Azure Striker Gunvolt and the upcoming Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 in a single retail package. If you’re not very familiar with the Azure Striker Gunvolt universe, don’t worry, Inti Creates also released an extensive announcement trailer which extensively details everything you ever wanted to know about the SNES-inspired side-scrolling shooters.
The original Azure Striker Gunvolt is currently available to download through the 3DS eShop, and the sequel will be released sometime this Summer. The Striker Pack containing both games will be available on store shelves on September 30.
Nintendo Download: Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, Azure Striker Gunvolt, SteamWorld Dig, more
If you’re a fan of retro games, then I recommend taking a gander at this week’s Nintendo eShop update… you might just find something you like.
Wii U owners will be able to download Mega Man X3, the final Mega Man game released for the Super NES. SteamWorld Dig, Image & Form’s critically-acclaimed 3DS platformer, is also available for the Wii U today. Finally, The Fall, a moody platformer that the developer has compared to Super Metroid, was released earlier this week.
Over on the 3DS, players will get the chance to download Azure Striker Gunvolt, a Super NES-inspired game created by Keiji Inafune and Inti Creates. And for a limited time, players who purchase Azure Striker Gunvolt will also receive Mighty Gunvolt, an NES-inspired platformer, for free. Also available this week is Thorium Wars: Attack of the Skyfighter, a space shooter, and Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a puzzle/crime-filled crossover of epic proportions.
You can find more information on all of these games after the break. (more…)
