It’s a big week for the PlayStation Store as more than a dozen new games have been added to the digital storefront.
Riding an elephant over the rest of this week’s new releases is Far Cry: Primal (PS4), Ubisoft’s prehistoric take on the first person shooter. Players will wield stone knives, spears, and bows, as they hunt wild animals and fend off attacks from other tribes. Oh, and in case you missed it the first time, they get to ride a rampaging elephant. Two other very different shooting games will also be released this week… We’ll get a chance to play EA’s colorful team-based competition, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (PS4), along with the strategic shooting of Square Enix’s Hitman Go: Definitive Edition (PS4 + PS Vita Cross-Buy).
Finally this week, Telltale is back with another adaptation of the Walking Dead universe for the PS4 and PS3. The first episode for The Walking Dead: Michonne is now available to download with future episodes planned for release in March and April.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
It’s another big week for Nintendo’s download services… and we even get another Wii U game.
That game is Gaijin Games’ Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. The platformer, which stars everyone’s favorite monochrome mascot, CommanderVideo, is available today is both demo and full version form.
Also available this week is Konami’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. The 3DS side-story that bridges the gap between the two Lords of Shadow games on the PS3/Xbox 360 is available now as a demo, with the full game set to hit the 3DS eShop on Tuesday, March 5.
Finally, this week finally marks the release of Retro City Rampage on the Wii Shop Channel. An 8-bit-styled, open-world game reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto’s early days, Retro City Rampage on the Wii includes the special “ROM City Rampage” mode, which morphs the game into a true 8-bit adventure that would have worked on the NES.
Hit the jump for more details on all of these games as well as three other additions to this week’s Nintendo Download. (more…)
Two new titles are available on the Xbox Live Arcade today.
First up is Runner 2 from Gaijin Games. Actually, wait, the game’s full title is Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. So yeah, let’s just stick with Runner 2. You can grab the platformer for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15):
Runner 2 is a rhythm-music, auto-running platformer. Players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to amazing new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar toward the goal of tracking down the Nefarious Timbletot who has un-fused CommanderVideo’s reality. Runner 2 features 5 exciting worlds, 125 tantalizing levels and 5 death defying BOSS battles! Play as 8 different characters and find secret areas to unlock new and zany costumes.
Also available this week is Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds. Price at 800 Microsoft Points ($10), Battle Grounds takes the popular characters from Phantom Breaker and drops them into a cooperative action game:
A spinoff to the fighting game Phantom Breaker, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a cooperative action game for up to four players. Cute versions of the series’ characters dash around the screen in this action packed title.Defeat enemies to raise your characters’ levels and freely assign skills to your liking. Also enjoy head to head fights in the Battleground mode.
Gaijin Games has announced a sequel to Bit.Trip Runner, which they’re calling Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2, Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. Wow, that’s quite a mouthful! The video above shows some of their brainstorming about the sequel, and includes some colorful language, as well as a turkey suit. And, of course, Commander Video is back.
According to the press release, the sequel will bring “at least 10 new abilities, HD visuals, support for Achievements/Trophies/leaderboards, unlockable costumes and ‘LOTS more to be revealed later.'” This sounds pretty exciting, especially because this sequel is coming to the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade sometime in 2012. No news yet on whether or not it will be coming to the Wii U.
