All Articles: Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell
Are you ready to do battle with a horde of hellspawn, a gaggle of zombies, and a spaceship full of aliens? If you’re interesting in purchasing anything in today’s Xbox Games Store update, you better be.
Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can return to Raccoon City to fight zombies in the latest re-release of Resident Evil. This version of the “REmake” includes enhanced graphics and a new widescreen presentation.
Also available this week are a pair of Saints Row titles: Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. Re-Elected marks the franchise’s debut on the Xbox One and includes all of the previously released DLC as the Third Street Saints attempt to stop an alien invasion. In Gat Out of Hell, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will travel to the underworld and “Shoot The Devil in the Face.”
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
A mix of re-releases, remakes, and reversions to a simpler time make up this week’s PlayStation Store update.
Capcom has released Resident Evil on nearly every platform imaginable over the years and the game’s eighth re-release gives the 2002 “REmake” a high definition upgrade and a new widescreen presentation. You can now relive all the thrills and chills of one of the first great survival horror titles on the PS3 or the PS4.
Also available this week is Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, a PS4 update to Saints Row IV. The Re-Elected package includes all of the previously released downloadable content and a graphical upgrade. Its joined by Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (PS3, PS4), a standalone expansion that asks players to “Shoot The Devil in the Face” to save the President of the United States from Satan.
Speaking of Presidents, Atlus’ Citizens of Earth (PS4, Vita) stars the Vice President of the World as he attempts to stop an alien invasion in a colorful RPG that is clearly inspired by the Super NES classic Earthbound. Finally, DNA-based puzzler Splice is now available on the PS3 and PS4 as a Cross-Buy title.
More information on all of these titles (and a few others) can be found after the break. And, as always, the PlayStation Blog is home to a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts. (more…)
Deep Silver and Volition will release a special “Re-Elected” version of Saints Row IV for the PS4 and Xbox One this week alongside the Gat Out of Hell expansion. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected aims to be the ultimate Saints Row IV package and will include every piece of downloadable content released for the game. And if you’re a PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 owner, don’t worry, Gat Out of Hell will be available as a standalone download/retail release on those platforms.
But don’t let simple facts sell you on this game, let Deep Silver’s infomercial-style launch trailer (and an accompanying toll-free number… 1-866-573-6626) do it for:
Fly like a majestic hell angel. Hang out with historical figures like Vlad the Impaler, Blackbeard the pirate, and fictional ones like William Shakespeare from all those movies about poems and love! Use dozens upon dozens of Hell-related weaponry, neat-o super powers, and brutal takedowns inspired by real martial art moves.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell will be available this Tuesday, January 20.
O when the Saints go marching in
When the Saints go marching in
O Lord I want to be in that number
When the Saints go marching in
The Third Street Saints are back and on the PS4 and Xbox One for the first time this week in Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, an expanded and enhanced version of the PS3/Xbox 360 hit from 2013. Re-Elected includes all of the downloadable content produced by Volition for Saints Row IV as well as Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, a standalone expansion where players are asked to “shoot The Devil in the face.” Gat Out of Hell will also be available on its own for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell moved up a week; “7 Deadly Weapons” revealed in new trailer
The Saints Row franchise has never been afraid to get a little crazy. After an alien invasion in Saints Row IV, even developers at Volition were asking, “Where do we go from here?” I think that’s why the idea behind Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell seems so inspired. Fighting the Devil is a total cliche, but it’s also the perfect playground for Volition and the Third Street Saints. Case in point… in this new trailer, Johnny Gat headbutts the devil in the face.
The trailer also includes a first look at the “Seven Deadly Weapons,” an angelic arsenal of guns that can be used to battle Satan’s minions:
- Armchair-A-Geddon (The embodiment of Sloth in the rifle slot) – Take a seat and watch the mayhem explode with dual-miniguns and heat-seeking missiles.
- Gallows Dodger (The embodiment of Pride in the pistol slot) – Hurl arcane balls of energy from this mysterious embodiment of murder, which doesn’t hesitate to boast of his murderous history.
- Last Supper (The embodiment of Gluttony in the special weapons slot) – Cover your enemies with hell-ish frosting and watch how hunger takes over the masses!
- Uriels Edge (The embodiment of Envy in the melee slot) – Slash, blast, and disintegrate your enemies in a deadly ball of fire.
- Ark of the Covenant (The embodiment of Wrath in the explosive slot) – Suck in the souls from your enemies and then launch them at the rest. It’s a win-win.
- Boom Chicka (The embodiment of Lust in the shotgun slot) – Nothing says come hither more than Boom Chicka, the sexiest gun in existence.
- Diamond Sting (The embodiment of Greed in the SMG slot) – This weapon propels wages at an incredible rate of fire, turning victims into a shower of wealth.
More Hell-themed weapons will be available to those who pre-order Gat Out of Hell or the PC/next-gen exclusive Saints Row IV: Re-Elected. The “Devil’s Workshop Pack,” available with Gat Out of Hell, will include angel wings for flight and Yorick, the Flaming Skull. Meanwhile, those who pre-order Re-Elected will receive the “Devil’s Workshop Pack” along with the “Plague of Frogs Pack,” which contains the frog-firing Lil’ Croaker gun and the Infernal Guard/Hellish Princess armor.
Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected (PC, PS4, Xbox One), which includes Gat Out of Hell, will be released on January 20, a full week earlier than expected.
The Third Street Saints are going to Hell. Today, Volition announced Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell during the close of their PAX Prime panel. The standalone expansion will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on January 27, 2015… and yes, you will be able to shoot The Devil in the face:
Play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington as you tear apart Hell in a quest to save the leader of the Saints’ soul. Historical icons, old friends, older enemies, a talking gun, a full length musical number, and a whole lot of other shenanigans all await you in the open world standalone expansion playground that is Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell.
But wait, there’s more. Gat Out of Hell isn’t the only Saints Row game that will make its debut on next-gen consoles this January. Volition also announced that Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, a PS4 and Xbox One port of Saints Row IV that also includes Gat Out of Hell.
If you’re attending PAX Prime this weekend, be sure to stop by the Deep Silver booth to play both Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected.
While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, looks like development is well underway on the next Saints Row game. Maybe. On his Twitter account today, Jay Mohr posted a picture of a soundbooth with this message:

Saints Row IV was just released a few months ago, so a new game in the series would be quite a fast followup. But whether its new DLC for the fourth game or Saints Row V, it’s confirmation of something…
