Activision released another CoD: Black Ops III teaser ahead of “World Reveal” on April 26

“Mankind’s grestest mistake will be its inability to control the technology it has created.”

Activision has released another teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops III in their continued pursuit to prep gamers ahead of the game’s “World Reveal” on April 26. Today’s teaser, titled “Ember,” focuses on the technological advancements that will push humanity to new heights over the next 50 years. The world of 2065 is one of replacement limbs that perform better than the real thing and replacement eyes that can see everything. Faster, stronger, better isn’t just the motto of the Six Million Dollar Man anymore. And a scared populace has begun to fight back against these “altered” humans.

The comparisons to Eidos Montreal’s recently-revealed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided practically write themselves.

The trailer closes with snippets from an interview with an Edward Snowden-like whistleblower. Faux Snowden is attempting to blow the lid off a US Government-sanctioned “Super Soldier” program, because the final ominous images of the teaser lead me to believe these boys aren’t quite as wholesome as Captain America.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be released this November. A PC, PS4, and Xbox One release is assured, though a PS3/Xbox 360 launch is also likely.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is the next game from the creator of Assassin’s Creed

Jade Raymond is the name that gamers most commonly connect to the creation of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. But did you know that the Creative Director behind the first two games was a man named Patrice Desilets? After a contentious split with Ubisoft in 2010, Desilets teamed up with Ubisoft to being work on a game known as 1666: Amsterdam. However, after THQ’s declaration of bankruptcy, the rights to 1666 were purchased by Ubisoft and Desilets was once again out of a job.

Resilient, the developer formed Panache Digital Games last year. And this morning, at the Reboot Develop conference in Croatia, he announced Panache’s first project. Known as Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, the third-person action-adventure/survival game will, according to the official announcement, reach back to tell the story of humanity’s beginning:

Through each episodes, we want the player to relive the greatest moments of mankind with a documentary twist. Our civilisation is one idea away from extinction… or evolution.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be released episodically and a wide variety of “great moments” are mentioned in the short teaser that Desilets showed the audience. Modern achievements such as the Human Genome Project and Dolly the Sheep are included alongside older discoveries like Isaac Newton’s theory of calculus in 1666 and “The Missing Link” in 5,000,000 BC.

It’s currently unknown when Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be released or what platforms it’ll be available for. But Desilets has promised to reveal more details about the episodic game throughout the year.

“It’s time to start running!”

Richard Dawson’s fantastic performance as Killian in The Running Man doesn’t have anything to do with today Xbox Games Store update. However, all three games now available for the Xbox One feature running at their center.

Ubisoft’s newest side-scroller in the Assassin’s Creed universe, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, involves a lot of running… as well as a lot of jumping, hiding, and stabbing. So, so much stabbing. Shao Jun leaps from the animated Assassin’s Creed: Embers short film into her first video game as she attempts to wreak vengeance on the Emperor of China.

More running can be found in Aaru’s Awakening, a “hand-drawn, 2D action platformer,” and Infinity Runner, a first-person parkour game set aboard a spaceship.

The Xbox 360 section of the Xbox Games Store also received an update today in the form of Shooting Love 200X, which is a collection of four shoot ’em ups.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

Daily Scoop: April 22, 2015 – Another day full of great shirts

As I mentioned yesterday, I have a t-shirt problem. I’ve been trying to cull my collection, but lately, it’s been really hard to not add to it. Today has proven to be no exception, though so far, I haven’t busted out my wallet, so I’m safe!

There are tons of games you can get at Humble right now! There’s less than a day left on their Humble Weekly Bundle: Strategy 2. There’s also still some time left on their Shooter Midweek Sale. Here’s an opportunity to add tons of games to your already full digital library!

An adventure game based on Adventure Time is in the works

adventuretimefinnandjake-header

Little Orbit has announced they will publish an “action-oriented” adventure game based on Adventure Time this November. Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations is in development at Vicious Cycle and will be released for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. In retrospect, an adventure game based on Adventure Time seems so obvious that I can’t believe it didn’t happen sooner.

Calling it “a complete departure from previous Adventure Time games,” Little Orbit’s Matt Scott is thrilled with the puzzle-solving and people-talking opportunities present in Finn and Jake Investigations:

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations is an all-new, real-time, fully 3D action-oriented twist on the classic story-driven graphic adventure game. Finn and Jake decide to carry on the profession of Finn’s foster parents, who were Professional Investigators. Confronted with mysterious Land of Ooo disappearances and strange events, players will interrogate colorful inhabitants, dispatch evil doers in fast-paced combat, solve mind-bending puzzles, explore new and familiar locations, and genuinely feel as if they have stepped into their own personal episode of Adventure Time.

Adventure Time‘s sixth season is currently airing on Cartoon Network.

Nordic Games will release Legend of Kay Anniversary this Summer

legendofkayanniversary-header

For an action platformer starring a samurai cat, Legend of Kay is one of the more amazing underdog stories in all of gaming. Initially released across Europe in early 2005, the game eventually made its way to America thanks to Capcom almost a year later. Five years after that, the game was resurrected by DreamCatcher Games, who elected to give it a DS port. Now, it looks like the game is coming back once more as Nordic Games has confirmed they will release Legend of Kay on a number of new platforms this Summer.

Now known as Legend of Kay Anniversary, German developer Kaiko has been tapped to bring the game to the PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox 360. Nordic plans to release Legend of Kay Anniversary as a budget title, but if it does well enough, it could finally spawn a sequel or two.

“Legend of Kay was a true gem on the PlayStation 2 platform,” said Reinhard Pollice, the Business and Product Development Director at Nordic Games. “Our strategy is to focus on our IPs and make them available to as many players as possible and also on the current generation of consoles. We [will] keep our options open to expand on the Legend of Kay franchise in the future.”
