Take-Two CEO: “We will be at E3 2016 in a big way”
Take-Two Interactive’s two publishing labels (2K Games and Rockstar Games) didn’t release many new games in 2015, but CEO Strauss Zelnick wants to change that this year. The executive revealed that Take-Two plans to have a big presence at the 2016 E3 Expo during a recent conversation with MCV, when he admitted, “We will be there in a big way.”
Obviously, the specifics of Zelnick’s statement are still a big mystery at the moment. But with the recent PC-exclusive launch for XCOM 2, and a tentative 2016 schedule that also includes Battleborn, Mafia III, NBA 2K17, and WWE 2K17, the publisher can easily turn heads at the industry’s biggest showcase.
Hopefully we’ll even learn a bit more about Rockstar’s next project, which may or may not be Red Dead Redemption 2.
Fire Emblem Fates becomes the fastest-selling game in the franchise in the US

It took American audiences a long time to warm to the Fire Emblem franchise. But 13 years after making its North American debut with Fire Emblem on the Game Boy Advance, the series has grown into something of a low-key juggernaut for Nintendo.
The publisher’s winning streak continued with last week’s launch of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest on the 3DS. According to Nintendo, both games combined to sell more than 300,000 copies over the weekend, which is a 500% increase over the first weekend sales of 2013’s Fire Emblem: Awakening.
“Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game’s undeniable appeal,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.”
In case you were curious, the beginner-friendly Birthright slightly outsold the more challenging Conquest, though Nintendo didn’t release exact sales numbers for either title.

Nintendo Download: Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Return to PoPoLoCrois, more
It’s time to catch ’em all… again…
The Pokemon franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and Nintendo will add the original trio of Game Boy games (Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Red, and Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition) to the 3DS eShop on Saturday, February 27. Players will even be able to battle their friends using the handheld’s wireless connection. And fans looking for another dose of Poke-mania should tune in to tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct presentation at 10:00 AM (Eastern Time) to learn more about the future of the franchise.
Another blast from the past is new to the 3DS eShop today as Capcom has added the Mega Man Legacy Collection to the download service. Players will be able to explore the first six Mega Man games, which were originally released on the NES from 1987 through 1994, as well as a brand new Challenge Mode. But if you’re looking for something new on your 3DS, Marvelous and XSEED have teamed up to bring together the RPG stylings of the PoPoLoCrois franchise with the farming simulation of the Story of Seasons franchise in Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale, which will be available on March 1.
Finally, over on the Wii U eShop, 6180: The Moon is now available to download for Nintendo’s home console. The platformer previously appeared on the PC and Xbox One, but its minimalist aesthetic will surely find a lot of fans on the Wii U.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Capcom will re-release Resident Evil 4, RE5, RE6 for the PS4, Xbox One this year
Capcom has always been happy to re-release the early entries in the Resident Evil franchise on any new platform that comes along, but they’re clearly taking it to a new level with their latest announcement. Over on the Capcom-Unity blog, the publisher has just confirmed that they plan to bring Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 to the PS4 and Xbox One this year.
All three games will be priced at $19.99 apiece, and Resident Evil 6 will launch first, on March 29. It’ll be followed by Resident Evil 5 this Summer, and Resident Evil 4 in the Fall. And for fans to buy their games from a brick-and-mortar retailer, Capcom plans to stock store shelves with a physical game disc for each title.
It’s a good time to be a fan of the Resident Evil franchise as nearly the entire series has received, or is in line to receive, a re-release on the PS4 and Xbox One. Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 are currently available on the current-generation consoles, while a full Resident Evil 2 remake is set to launch next year.

The Batmobile will rocket into Rocket League on March 8
“It’s the car, right? Chicks love the car.”
I’m pretty sure I enjoy Batman Forever more than most people (even liking it at all puts me in pretty rare company), and Val Kilmer is a big reason why. He was actually a pretty decent Batman, and a not-too-shabby Bruce Wayne. Plus, Tommy Lee Jones acting completely insane will never not be fun.
Anyway, Batman’s favorite mode of transportation, the Batmobile, will soon find its way into everyone’s favorite car soccer sim, Rocket League, on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Developer Psyonix has teamed up with Warner Bros. to add Ben Affleck’s Batmobile (from the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) to Rocket League’s slate of DLC offerings. Priced at $1.99, players who purchase the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Car Pack will also receive a set of Antenna Flags featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will open in theaters on March 25.

Xbox Store Today: Far Cry Primal, PvZ Garden Warfare 2, The Walking Dead Michonne, more

Today’s Xbox Games Store update is all about scary things… cannibals, zombies, dying alone in the wilderness, and that thing on Gorbachev’s head.
The hero of Far Cry: Primal (Xbox One), Takkar, will have to spend his days dodging cannibals as he fights for survival in the game’s prehistoric locales. Thankfully, Takkar will be able to rely on his own tribe to help him out, and the wild animals that he tames including elephants, tigers, and wolves. In the Stone Age, it’s easy to show those cannibals who’s really on top of the food chain.
Zombies don’t usually munch on brains, but Telltale’s smart adaptation of The Walking Dead saga gets a new chapter today with the release of The Walking Dead: Michonne (Xbox One and Xbox 360). Players will take control of the character’s famed sword in a story that explores Michonne’s absence between issues #126 and #139 of the comic book… “and what brought her back.” A different sort of undead are at the center of EA’s Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (Xbox One), but the team-based shooter includes a ton of new maps and modes for fans of the series.
Also available today is The Flame in the Flood (Xbox One), is “a wilderness survival game in which a girl and her dog travel by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river.”
Finally today, Reagan Gorbachev (Xbox One) will fight back against a group of extremists in a top-down shooter using “their fists and samurai swords and poison darts and pistols and shotguns and fully automatic assault rifles and grenade launchers and miniguns and bazookas and some other guns.” Sure… why not?
More information on all of these (along with a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Far Cry: Primal, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, Hitman Go, more added to PS Store

It’s a big week for the PlayStation Store as more than a dozen new games have been added to the digital storefront.
Riding an elephant over the rest of this week’s new releases is Far Cry: Primal (PS4), Ubisoft’s prehistoric take on the first person shooter. Players will wield stone knives, spears, and bows, as they hunt wild animals and fend off attacks from other tribes. Oh, and in case you missed it the first time, they get to ride a rampaging elephant. Two other very different shooting games will also be released this week… We’ll get a chance to play EA’s colorful team-based competition, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (PS4), along with the strategic shooting of Square Enix’s Hitman Go: Definitive Edition (PS4 + PS Vita Cross-Buy).
Finally this week, Telltale is back with another adaptation of the Walking Dead universe for the PS4 and PS3. The first episode for The Walking Dead: Michonne is now available to download with future episodes planned for release in March and April.

Pre-order Doom 2016 on Xbox Games Store and get original Doom and Doom II for free

Doom first delivered a shotgun blast of innovation to the game industry all the way back in 1993. Which means that many of today’s most voracious first person shooter fans weren’t even alive when John Carmack, John Romero, and the rest of id Software asked players to fight back against the denizens of Hell with a minigun and a whole lot of moxie.
Thankfully, anyone who was planning to pre-order the upcoming reboot through the Xbox Games Store will receive a Doom history lesson at no additional charge, as every Xbox One owners who pre-purchases Doom 2016 will receive a download code for the original Doom and Doom II: Hell On Earth for the Xbox Live Arcade. Best of all, both games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One.
Players who pre-order Doom 2016 on the Xbox One (or any other platform) will also receive the “Demon Multiplayer Pack,” which includes a “unique Demon-themed armor set with three skin variations, six Hack Modules, six exclusive metallic paint colors, and three id logo patterns that can be applied to weapons and armor.”
Bethesda will digitally deliver the download codes for both games to your Xbox Live inbox roughly a week after Doom’s May 13th launch date.
