Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will include FF15 demo when its released on March 17
Square Enix has announced they will release Final Fantasy Type-0 HD in the US on March 17, 2015. Are you still a little shaky on what Type-0 HD entails? Square Enix has helpfully provided this description for the PS4/Xbox One title:
Step into the fray as Class Zero, a group of fourteen students from an elite military academy whose country is attacked by an aggressive neighboring Empire. Using the powerful abilities and magic of all fourteen characters in fast-paced action RPG combat, players must face the brutality and injustices of war to uncover the secrets of its genesis.
As a further incentive to entice fans to take a chance on their latest Final Fantasy spinoff, Square Enix will include a Final Fantasy XV demo download code inside each copy of Type-0 HD.
Type-0 HD has undergone quite a few changes in its odyssey towards America. Originally announced as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, it began life as a PSP entry in Square Enix’s “Fabula Nova Crystallis” franchise. After a name change, it was released in Japan in 2011. Owing to its handheld roots, Type-0 was initially rumored to move to the Vita before Square Enix announced the PS4/Xbox One port at this year’s E3 Expo.
So four years later (and nine since its initial announcement), we’ll get a chance to see what the fuss is about.

See Bayonetta cosplay as Nintendo characters in new Bayonetta 2 trailer
Have you ever wanted to see Bayonetta dress up as Star Fox, Link, Samus Aran, or Princess Peach? Well, you’ll get your chance in Bayonetta 2. The trailer embedded above showcases the wicked witch’s new looks as well as the special attacks that come bundled with her new outfits. Donning Link’s green tunic allows Bayonetta to wield a mighty bow and slipping into Samus Aran’s Varia Suit opens up the Screw Attack as well as the Morph Ball. Despite what the trailer says, these costume changes aren’t mere “cosplay.”
Bayonetta 2 (which will be bundled with the original Bayonetta) will be available exclusively for the Wii U on October 24.

Five Survivor Mode add-ons for Alien: Isolation planned; Season Pass announced
Sega and Creative Assembly have big plans for Alien: Isolation after its October 7 launch. As part of a planned Season Pass, the developer will create five Survivor Mode add-ons that place players in direct opposition with the Xenomorph in a confined space and with limited resources. A bonus Survivor Mode demo, “Basement,” will be included with the game at launch.
Each Survivor Mode add-on will include “three new maps, each with their own set objective and challenges, a new playable character and a variety of enemy types between you and your escape.” New Survivor Mode packs will drop at a rate of about one per month and the first will be released on October 28. All five will be available by next March.
“At this year’s E3 and a number of subsequent events, we put the Survivor Mode demo into the hands of the world’s press and consumers and the reception was incredible,” said Al Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation. “This is the game in its purest form; it’s you against the creature and it’s against the clock. It was just fantastic watching players leave the demo with a strange mix of joy, terror and relief at simply surviving, before jumping back in and try to tackle it in a different way to beat their time!”

Activision sells more than 5 million copies of Destiny in first week

Opinions on Bungie’s Destiny seem to be split (its average score at Metacritic is current in the high 70s), but publisher Activision is definitely pleased with how many copies they’ve sold. In its first five days of availability, Destiny grossed more than $325 million. At $60 a pop, that averages out to more than five million copies sold, obliterating the previous sales record for an original property, which was set by Watch Dogs back in May.
“Destiny fans played more than 100 million hours of the game in the first week. That’s on par with the engagement levels of our most popular Call of Duty games, which obviously is an industry leader,” said Eric Hirshberg, the CEO of Activision Publishing. “Millions of gamers are having a great time playing Destiny and can’t put down their controllers. And this is just the beginning. Destiny is a platform that will grow and evolve and we will continue to work closely with our partners at Bungie to bring a long line of new experiences and content to life in the game.”
Destiny is currently available for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Yesterday, Bungie launched “Vault of Glass,” a unique in-game event exclusively for players who’ve reached Level 26.
Fairy Fencer F, Muraski Baby, Anomaly 2, more added to PS Store
It’s a quiet week for the PlayStation Store, but players are now able to download…
- Anomaly 2, a “tower offense” game for the PS4.
- KickBeat Special Edition, a rhythm game with a kung fu kick for the PS4.
- Fairy Fencer F, another wild RPG from NIS America for the PS3.
- Murasaki Baby, a visually unique puzzle platformer for the Vita.
More information on all of these titles (as well as a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
More evidence for Super Smash Bros. For Wii U’s 11/21 release uncovered in Nintendo ad

While the official release date for Super Smash Bros. For Wii U is still “Winter 2014,” evidence continues to mount that the game will be released on November 21.
Following a suspicious reservation card found at Fred Meyer, this latest leak comes from Nintendo themselves. A French site, Puissance Nintendo (spotting by CVG), has received advertising from Nintendo promoting the November 21 release date for Super Smash Bros. For Wii U:
You may have noticed a commercial for Hyrule Warriors is currently being broadcast on PN. But this ad reveals vital information about Super Smash Bros due out later this winter on Wii U. According to Nintendo’s advertising, Super Smash Bros For Wii U should land in Europe on November 21.
At this point, I would be more surprised if Super Smash Bros. For Wii U wasn’t released on November 21.

SteamWorld Heist is a turn-based strategy game that takes the series to space
Image & Form has announced they’re following up the massive success of SteamWorld Dig with a far-flung spinoff known as SteamWorld Heist. Instead of another subterranean platformer, SteamWorld Heist takes the series to outer space as a turn-based strategy game:
Taking place some time after SteamWorld Dig, a cataclysmic event has shattered the planet and forced its population into steam-driven spaceships. It’s a robot-eat-robot world out there, and water is desperately hard to come by. Heisting other ships and bases – bad guys fortunately, the lot of them – is their only way to remain in operation.
“Heist isn’t a sequel to SteamWorld Dig,” CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson said. “It’s set in the same world and the cowbots are still the heroes. But a lot has happened to SteamWorld since then, and we want to make a game that is radically different. Partly because we really wanted to make a turn-based strategy game, but also because it felt like a clever move. The obvious follow-up would’ve been Dig 2; we wanted to surprise instead.”
SteamWorld Heist will be released in Spring 2015 for “all platforms,” but don’t expect a simultaneous release. Image & Form has posted an FAQ on their official website stating that a staggered release schedule for each platform is currently being planned. SteamWorld Dig originally debuted on the 3DS before moving on to Steam, the PS4/Vita, and the Wii U.
