WB announces Lego Batman 3 DLC content, Season Pass
Prepare yourself, a “Season Pass” will soon be available for a children’s game as WB Games has announced they are planning to produce six downloadable content packs that expand on Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. The first three packs (which are based on The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and Batman’s early comic appearances) will be available on November 11 alongside the game’s launch:
The Dark Knight Pack
Experience the heart-pounding chase scene from the iconic film complete with cool vehicles and explosive action. Play as the legendary Dark Knight and Commissioner Gordon, as well as the Joker and his goons as they chase down Harvey Dent’s police escort. Bane and Catwoman from the third film are also playable.Man of Steel Pack
Help Jor-El, his wife Lara, and their robot Kelex send the infant Superman “Kal-El” into space towards the safety of Earth as Krypton falls into chaos. Find a way inside Jor-El’s home, fight General Zod’s invading forces and battle against Zod himself to save Superman.Batman 75th Pack
Play as Joker and Harley, setting up a variety of celebration set pieces. Be the Batman and play as some of the most iconic faces of Batman through the years, including his first appearance in Detective Comics #27.
Each pack will be available for $2.99 apiece or as part of the Season Pass (which will sell for $14.99). The Season Pass will only be offered for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It looks like players who planned on purchasing Lego Batman 3 on the 3DS, Vita, or Wii U are out of luck and it’s currently unknown if the DLC will even be available on those platforms.
Details and release dates for the final three packs will be announced at a later date.
Batman: Arkham Knight ventures into the light of day on June 2
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Batman will return on June 2, 2015. It looks like that’s the day that Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in three different versions.
A game disc in a flimsy plastic case is yours if you’re willing to spend $59.99 on the standard edition. But for $99.99, you can upgrade to the Limited Edition housed in a fancy SteelBook case. In North America, the Limited Edition will be available exclusively for the PS4 and Xbox One. Gamers in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand will have the option of picking it up for the PC as well as the PS4 or Xbox One. So what else do you get for your money besides a sturdier case? Well, the Limited Edition includes…
- Limited Edition SteelBook – Unique SteelBook case and game disc.
- Batman Memorial Statue – Imposing statue commemorating Gotham’s protector, The Dark Knight.
- Custom Art Book – 80 Page, full-colour art book showcasing the concept art of Batman: Arkham Knight.
- Comic Book – Limited Edition DC Comics Batman: Arkham Knight #0 Comic Book.
- Exclusive Character Skin Pack – Three unique Skins from DC Comics’ “New 52” series.
But if you really want to get nuts, the $199.99 Batmobile Edition (PS4 or Xbox One only in all territories) may be for you. The Batmobile Edition includes everything from the Limited Edition, except the Batman Memorial Statue has been swapped out for a Transforming Batmobile Statue that is, according to WB, “realized in exquisite detail by TriForce.”

Square Enix: “We’d love to bring Dragon Quest X to the West”
Square Enix has expressed interest in bringing Dragon Quest X to western countries ever since the game first launched in Japan in 2012. Originally available for the Wii, Dragon Quest X’s reach has expanded to include versions for the Wii U, PC, and 3DS (which just launched last week). But is Square Enix still interested in trying to bring the game west? The answer is most certainly yes.
Siliconera recently spoke to Yuu Miyake, Dragon Quest X’s Executive Producer, and has response was an enthusiastic, “We’d love to do it!” He further elaborated that cultural differences between Japan and western countries have made this a difficult process:
“In terms of this being an MMO, again, we have to consider the operation and logistics of how to make that feasible,” Miyake elaborated. “We also have to think about it from a business standpoint. With Final Fantasy XI and XIV, it’s a global-scale endeavor. In terms of Dragon Quest, the way it’s perceived in the different countries is very, very different. How it’s perceived in Japan is different than how it’s perceived in the United States.”
Finally, Miyake said that business considerations could further complicate a North American launch for Dragon Quest X as a new data center would have to be constructed to serve a North American playerbase. But with the success of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, this might not be as large a hurdle for the publisher as it has been in the past.

Destiny will be available on store shelves in just two short days… are you ready? To help prepare, I suggest watching the pretty fun live-action trailer and reading about the rest of Warp Zoned’s week that was. For example, did you know that Andrew Rainnie turned his latest Kickstart This! column on its head by focusing on Indiegogo titles? Because he did. The entire Warp Zoned staff also got together to talk about What We Played In August 2014 and The Games of September 2014. And yes, Destiny definitely has a place in the latter.

New Releases: Destiny, NHL 15
Are you ready? Destiny will be available in stores this week for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Prospective PlayStation players will also be able to purchase Bungie’s “shared-world shooter” as part of two system bundles… the 500GB PS3 Bundle and the Glacier White PS4 Bundle. While Microsoft cannot officially offer a Destiny system bundle, they are giving a free game (which could be Destiny, if you so choose) to anyone who buys an Xbox One console this week.
No other games have deigned to challenge Destiny except for NHL 15, which has owned the second week of September for a decade now. It too will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Square Enix bringing Rise of Mana and Deadman’s Cross to Vita in Japan
Square Enix has announced their Tokyo Game Show 2014 lineup (helpfully translated by Siliconera) and it looks like two of the publisher’s popular mobile titles will be making the leap to the PlayStation Vita.
Rise of Mana is the latest game in the long-running Mana series and it has been available for mobile devices in Japan since March. The free-to-play title includes full controllers support and in-app microtransactions. A North American release has yet to be announced, but perhaps the Vita version will spur Square Enix into action.
Meanwhile, Deadman’s Cross is a card-based battler that takes place during a zombie uprising which is currently available in English on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for Android. Again, the Vita version was not announced for an American release, but with an English-language port already out there, it’s very possible.
Square Enix will showcase more than a dozen games at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which begins on September 18. The list includes multiple new entries in the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy franchises as well as Bravely Second.
Dive deeper into Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer mode in new trailer
Last month, Activision gave us our first glimpse at Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s multiplayer mode. Now, in a brand new seven-minute trailer, the publisher wants gamers to take a “Deep Dive” and examine the updated multiplayer options even further. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about “exoskeleton movement, customization, maps, and modes,” this is the trailer for you.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 4.
Mortal Kombat X is koming on April 14; Goro pre-order bonus announced
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have announced that Mortal Kombat X, the tenth game in the Mortal Kombat franchise, will be available on April 14. The game, which is in development for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, will explore the future of the Mortal Kombat mythos over a span of 25 years.
The publisher and developer have also announced that players who pre-order Mortal Kombat X will be able to play as Goro at launch. Presumably, the four-armed Shokan warrior (and champion of the original Mortal Kombat) will be available to all at a later date.
Goro will join the eight previously announced characters, which so far includes four newcomers (D’Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Kotal Kahn, and Cassie Cage) and four returning favorites (Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Kano). Mortal Kombat X is expected to include at least 24 characters, so many more are sure to be announced before the game ships on April 14.
