Destiny live action trailer appears ahead of next week’s launch

Bungie’s Destiny will be available on store shelves beginning next Tuesday, September 9, for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. To get fans in the right frame of mind, the developer released this pretty nifty live action trailer for the game. A fireteam embarks on a rather… let’s go with irreverent… campaign against the aliens occupying many of humanity’s former colonies all scored to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.”

I have to admit, the shouts of “Venus, baby!” (in the style of a 20th century frat boy screaming “Vegas, baby!”) were pretty amusing.

Buy an Xbox One system next week and get a free game

xboxone-logoNow this is how you do a free game promotion.

Microsoft has announced that everyone who purchases an Xbox One system at “participating retailers” next week, September 7 through September 13, will receive a free game at the time of purchase. The promotion will also apply to the Forza Motorsport 5 and Madden NFL 15 bundles as well, so it’s actually possible to score two free games. But best of all, this offer is valid towards ANY Xbox One retail release. So if you’re interesting in picking up a free copy of Destiny next week with the purchase of an Xbox One console, you can.

I’ve got to admit, it’s a pretty cagey way of countering Sony’s PlayStation 4/Destiny bundle.

According to Polygon, the list of “participating retailers” includes Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart.

All downloadable content for the PS3 Edition can be transferred to the PS4 Edition. If you’re a first-time player of Minecraft, the PS4 Edition will be regularly priced at $19.99. Finally, a retail disc version of Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition will be available before the end of the year.

Angry Birds Transformers will be out October 15… and it has the greatest launch trailer ever

Rovio has announced that Angry Birds Transformers will be available for mobile devices on October 15. To celebrate this momentous news, the developer enlisted Vince Di Cola, the composer on Transformers: The Movie, and asked him to create an 80s-style song to go with a trailer patterned after a VHS rip of the old cartoon.

As you might have guessed, it is a thing of beauty.
