Far Cry 4: Kyrat Edition will include a statue of Pagan Min sitting on an elephant throne

farcry4kyrateditionAre you ready to add another ostentatious Collector’s Edition statue to your video game shelf? Then you’ll want to check out Far Cry 4’s Kyrat Edition.

Priced at $129.99, the Kyrat Edition includes an almost eight-inch statue of Pagan Min, the game’s big bad villain. And just to prove how evil he is, the statue depicts Pagan Min perched atop a throne made from an elephant’s head. The special edition package will also include a map of Kyrat, a travel journal, a propaganda poster, and the “Hurk’s Redemption” DLC Pack.

Far Cry 4’s Kyrat Edition will be available on November 18 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One (sorry PC owners).

Midna stars in the last Hyrule Warriors character trailer

Hyrule Warriors will include six playable characters when it’s released this September and Koei Tecmo Japan has released five character-specific trailers thus far. Today, they unveiled the final trailer, which stars Midna of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Midna can ride a wolf and use its powerful jaws to bite through the hordes of enemies in Hyrule Warriors. And if she’s feeling bored, she can scoop up the wolf and throw it into a group of monsters. The Twili will also be able to grow a “hair hand” and use it to smack around her enemies.

Hyrule Warriors will be released exclusively for the Wii U on September 26.

Reintroduce yourself to The Arbiter in this Halo: Master Chief Collection trailer

“I have had many names in this long war. The humans knew me as the destroyer. To the Covenant, I was Supreme Commander. The Prophets named me Arbiter. And your Master Chief calls me Friend. How well do you know your friend, human? And what will you call me when you learn the truth of what I have done.”

Because of Keith David’s long career, the actor is known for many different roles to many different people. To some, he fought “Rowdy” Roddy Piper over a pair of sunglasses for 20 minutes. For others (like me), he fought The Thing and may, or may not, have been assimilated by the end of the film. But most video game fans know him as The Arbiter, the Covenant Elite who helped save the universe in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

As part of this Fall’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One, new cutscenes featuring The Arbiter will be added to Halo 2, linking it to next year’s Halo 5: Guardians. You can get a taste of this expanded narrative in the trailer above, but to see the full story, you’ll need to pick up Halo: The Master Chief Collection on November 11.

Heed “Handsome Jack’s Tips for Surviving on the Moon!” in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Before letting journalists loose on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at this year’s E3 Expo, 2K Games forced them to watch “Handsome Jack’s Tips for Surviving on the Moon” to prepare for the experience. In the video, Handsome Jack describes what’s different about shooting and looting on the Moon… in his own deranged way, that is. If you’re too lazy to watch, here are Handsome Jack’s six tips:

#1 Stay in the air
#2 Don’t forget the power of the SLAM!
#3 Use your Skills
#4 New Loot!
#5 Lasers… Heh heh, they’re pretty cool
#6 Cryo Weapons are awesome

Don’t you want to watch it now? Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 14.

Mighty No. 9 animated adaptation in the works

I don’t how this will impact the planned live-action adaptation, but Comcept and Digital Frontier have announced they’ve begun work on an animated adaptation of Mighty No. 9.

The project is still in the early stages, but Digital Frontier wants to create an “action-packed comedy aimed at kids 6-11” that they hope will appeal to adults as well. If the teaser video above is any indication, I think they’ve got a shot at doing just that. Produced for this weekend’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles, the video is a neat little taste of things to come. However, according to an FAQ posted on the official Mighty No. 9 site, no one has officially signed on to the animated adaptation as of yet. Digital Frontier is still looking for writers, a director, and voice actors. Because of this, we don’t know when Mighty No. 9: The Animated Series will make its television debut.

But hopefully the announcer sticks around, he’s pretty awesome.

Weekly Warp-Up: The 2014 “Yup, It’s July” Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

It’s that time again. The calendar has flipped over to a new month and the Warp Zoned staff got together to discuss The Games of July 2014. And before that, we revealed What We Played in June 2014. There are some good games in both lists, specifically The Walking Dead Season 2: In Harm’s Way, which Warp Zoned’s Mike Ryan recently reviewed. And speaking of important things that happened in June, the Game Critics Awards have showered Evolve and No Man’s Sky with multiple “Best of E3 2014” awards.

If you’re looking for something a little more “out there,” might I suggest the latest edition of our Kickstart This! column. There are cats and side-scrolling… but not side-scrolling cats.

You can find more news from the past seven days after the break. (more…)

The latest Hyrule Warriors character trailer stars Agitha

Koei Tecmo Japan has released a fifth character trailer for Hyrule Warriors. This time, we get to spend a few minutes with Agitha, the “Bug Princess” from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Agitha uses her parasol as a club, but her real power is in summoning giant insects to dispatch the mobs. Death by butterfly!

Hyrule Warriors will be released exclusively for the Wii U on September 26.
