Rumor: Sixth Resident Evil movie opening on September 12, 2014

ShockTillYouDrop.com is reporting that Sony/Screen Gems and director Paul W.S. Anderson are preparing to unleash a sixth (and presumably final) Resident Evil film on the moviegoing public on September 12, 2014. Considering the cliffhanger that Resident Evil: Retribution ended on, I can’t say this is too surprising.
It’s unknown if Anderson will direct the currently untitled Resident Evil 6 or if he’ll hand it off to someone else (which he did for Extinction and Afterlife). As this is still in the rumor stage, Milla Jovovich also has yet to officially sign up, but I can’t imagine a Resident Evil movie without Alice.

Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote begins with Jerry Rice vs. Chris Carter

The Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote officially begins next Monday (March 11), but EA Sports and ESPN’s SportsNation launched the vote-by-Twitter play-in round today. The first matchup is Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice versus newly-minted Hall of Fame wide receiver Chris Carter. You can make your selection by tweeting a message of support to Rice (with the hashtag #Madden25Rice) or Carter (with the hashtag #Madden25Carter) now:
The #MaddenCoverVote Play-In starts NOW: Vote for @jerryrice w/ #Madden25Rice or @criscarter80 w/ #Madden25Carter! twitter.com/EAMaddenNFL/st…
— EA SPORTS Madden NFL (@EAMaddenNFL) March 4, 2013
This year’s Madden Cover Vote will include 32 current players versus 32 all-time greats with one of each facing off in the final round. While no one’s seen the final bracket yet, I have to ask, how was Jerry Rice not an automatic pick? The man wasn’t just a great wide receiver, he was the greatest wide receiver.
Of course, Carter is an ESPN analyst (and one of Chris Berman’s favorite players), so I suppose that explains Carter’s challenge of Mr. 80.

Sonic Dash endlessly runs to iOS soon
It’s hard to believe that Sonic the Hedgehog hasn’t starred in an “endless runner” yet, but that’ll all change when Sega adds Sonic Dash to the iOS App Store “soon.”
Our spikey hero goes on a fast and frenzied 3D dash through the stunning grassy verges of Seaside Hill. Challenge your friends to run as far into the hill as you can and beat their best times!
Sonic Dash is being developed by Hardlight Studio, the same team that was responsible for 2012’s iOS hit, Sonic Jump.
First two Assassin’s Creed IV trailers from Ubisoft confirm all the rumors
Poor Ubisoft, their big Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag reveal was spoiled by a leak of the game’s debut trailer (which you can watch above in case you missed it) over the weekend.
The trailer confirms everything we thought we knew about the game. It’ll be released on October 29 for the PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 with PC, PS4 and other “next-generation console” versions coming later. We also know that the pirate rogue at the center of the story is Edward Kenway, Connor’s grandfather.
“With the new hero and new setting we are creating the boldest and most unique Assassin’s Creed game yet, while still respecting the pillars of the franchise that have made it such a fan favorite,” said Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is based on a true, harsh and exciting part of a legendary era and will thrill longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
But if you’re looking for something new, check out the game’s second trailer, “Edward Kenway, A Pirate Trained By Assassins,” after the break. (more…)
Capcom plans to announce two games at PAX East

Capcom plans to talk about a ton of games at this year’s PAX East show, including two unannounced projects! The two games will be unveiled during the “World of Capcom” panel scheduled for Friday, March 22 at 12 Noon.
If you’ve got PAX East tickets and you miss the panel, be sure to swing by their booth as Darkstalkers Resurrection, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Remember Me and Lost Planet 3 will all be playable on the show floor.
PAX East 2013 will be held March 22-24 in Boston and if you don’t have tickets, you’re too late. They officially sold out a day or two ago.

Deep Silver has something “HUGE” planned for PAX East

Aubrey Norris, Deep Silver’s Marketing Director, has revealed that the publisher has something “HUGE” planned for this year’s PAX East show:
Dear media:You’re going to want to be at PAX East this year.If not, you’re going to be missing out on something HUGE. Just FYI!
— Aubrey Norris (@Chupacaubrey) March 2, 2013
Deep Silver obtained the rights to Metro: Last Light and the Saints Row series (including Saints Row 4) during the THQ auction back in January. Perhaps this announcement has something to do with either of those games, or possibly Deep Silver’s other big franchise, Dead Island.
PAX East will be held from March 22nd through the 24th and, as of this writing, tickets are officially sold out.

New Releases: Tomb Raider, SimCity, Castlevania: Mirror of Fate, More

Alright, after a few slow weeks, we’ve got a much more substantial list of new releases this week.
Leading the pack is Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider reboot. The game travels back to Lara’s first adventure and looks to be more of a survival tale than a hunt for shiny babble #23. It’ll be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and it definitely looks interesting.
Another interesting entry in this week’s new release list is SimCity. The last game in series, 2007’s SimCity Societies, made quite a few changes to the standard SimCity mechanic. SimCity, while not technically a “reboot,” will attempt to bring back the franchise’s familiar feel.
Also available this week this is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, the 3DS interquel set between Lords of Shadow and the upcoming Lords of Shadow 2. Namco Bandai will also bring Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk exclusively to the PS3 this week.
Finally, it’s time to play ball as MLB 13: The Show (PS3, Vita) and MLB 2K13 (PS3, Xbox 360) are ready to enter the batter’s box. Just 29 days until opening day.
A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
