Daily Scoop: July 18, 2013 – I hate heat indexes
Yeah, so, it’s a million degrees everywhere, and I am really tired of it. That’s the bad news. The good news it that I went to the dentist this morning and I don’t have any cavities! Huzzah! So, all in all, a pretty great day, in spite of the melting part of it.
Anyway, it’s a new day, which means there are new sales going on over at Steam. What did you spend your money on today? Was it Torchlight 2 for $4.99? Garry’s Mod for $2.49? Or maybe that little game you might have heard of, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, for $19.99? Oh, and you can still get XCOM: Enemy Unknown for $9.99.
As always, I’ve got some shirts for you! (more…)

Thomas Was Alone Review: How to Relate to Shapes

Thomas Was Alone is a lovely little puzzle game in which you get to play as different shapes. Each shape has a different power – whether it’s jumping far, floating on liquid, or being able to walk on the ceiling. The shapes must work together to clear each stage, solving puzzles and helping each other get through areas – sometimes by physically carrying one another, and other times by pressing buttons to open up new areas. It may sound boring, but I can assure you, this tiny game is anything but boring – in fact, there’s a huge and beautiful game experience tied into its little frame. (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 16, 2013 – OK, Steam, you got me
Wow is it ever hot outside! And it’s just going to keep getting hotter. Thank goodness we have working air conditioners and a huge backlog of games to play. I kind of love summer for that reason… and don’t worry, everyone, I’m getting plenty of vitamin D. I can tell because it’s those moments that I’m in the sun that I can’t play my 3DS because it’s too bright outside.
As far as deals go, well, Steam finally got to me today. I’ll be buying Alan Wake for $2.99, Mark of the Ninja for $3.74, and System Shock 2 for $2.49. Oh, and you should definitely buy Sleeping Dogs for $6.24. That is an absurd steal.
And now, two awesome t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 15, 2013 – Good deals
It’s another lovely week of the summer, and another lovely weekend of gaming comes to a close! I finally beat The Last of Us last night, around 2:30 AM. The time just seemed to melt away – I swear it was 9PM and then suddenly it was almost 3 and I couldn’t sleep because of the scaries. But it was worth it! I couldn’t stop playing it and finished it in four sittings. The intensity was high, the gameplay was fun, and the feels, man – the feels were off the charts.
Anyway, let’s go from feels to deals! Amazon has some new deals this week, including Dead Island Riptide Special Edition for $29.99, Far Cry 3 for $19.99, and Injustice: Gods Among Us for $39.99. Or, if you want to be seriously hardcore, you can save $20 on the Injustice Collector’s Edition. Good stuff!
There are some good t-shirts up today that you might enjoy! (more…)

The Starship Damrey Review: A Clever, Fun, and Terrifying Space Puzzler

The Starship Damrey is the first game to be released in America from Level-5’s Guild02 collection, their second set of 3DS collaborations with some of Japan’s most acclaimed developers. You might remember such games as Liberation Maiden, Aero Porter, and Crimson Shroud from Guild01, and the quality hasn’t wavered at all in this first installment of Guild02. Designed by Kazuya Asano and written by Takemaru Abiko, creators of text-based adventures in Japan, The Starship Damrey is something of a survival horror puzzle game, devilishly elusive and refreshingly difficult and frightening. Free of tutorials or any kind of explanation at all, the player is thrown into the story, forced to fight the claustrophobia of being trapped in a cold sleep chamber on the aforementioned starship, with only their wits to solve the mystery. Daily Scoop: July 12, 2013 – Finally Friday
Whew, what a week it’s been! I’m just getting over this wretched cold that has been my constant companion for ten days now. Hopefully by Monday it’ll be gone completely and I’ll feel back to normal! But, until then, I’m going to just cuddle up and play some video games.
More games in the Steam Sale today, of course! The “Flash Sale” includes XCom: Enemy Unknown for $9.99 (which is more than how much it costs for PS+ users right now, which is a big whopping zero dollars) and Legend of Grimrock for $3.74. The “Daily Deals” include Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for $6.24, Fez for $4.99, and Surgeon Simulator for $3.39. I’ve been trying so hard to avoid this sale, but there’s no way my wallet is going to go unscathed through all of this!

Daily Scoop: July 11, 2013 – Behind the times
Well, I finally started The Last of Us last night. I’m already traumatized. Between that and the new Walking Dead DLC, 400 Days, coming out today, I’m ready to have a really depressing weekend.
There are no sales to speak of… well, I mean, other than the Steam Sale that everyone and their mother are Tweeting, Facebooking, and freaking out about. Today’s major deal is BioShock Infinite for $29.99… though Hotline Miami for $2.49 is nothing to sneeze about. Neither is Antichamber for $6.79. Look, just… just try to last the next two weeks without spending all of your money, ok?
Today’s t-shirts are after the jump! (more…)
