Monaco Review: What’s Yours Is Mine… But Not If I Go Alone

monaco-header

Monaco is an indie game by Pocketwatch Games, in which you and your fellow professional criminals spend some quality time together breaking out of – and into – various facilities. The game is top-down and done in simple graphics, with large pixelated characters and backgrounds. You can choose to take on each mission alone, choosing which character you want to play as, or team up with up to three other people, each of whom can play someone different. The multiplayer aspects of the game are a complete blast, but taking on the game solo can be a frustrating affair. (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 10, 2013 – Hot hot heat

Hello, Internet! I have been dreadfully sick this last week, finally caving and staying home yesterday. But at least now we have air conditioning at home, so staying home is not a heat-filled headache! I won’t have to worry anymore about whether or not it’s the fever or the temperature that has me nearly on fire. Woohoo!

There are some good new deals popping up over at Amazon these days. You can get Fast & Furious: Showdown for $19.99, Heroes of Ruin for $17.99, Hitman Trilogy HD for $19.99, Lego Lord of the Rings for $14.99, and the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition for $34.99. That’s a lot of great deals!

To round it all off, I’ve got some cool t-shirts for you. (more…)

DARE To Read This Interview With the Co-Creator of Don’t Play With Drugs: The Game

dontplaywithdrugs-logoA few months ago, I got my hands on a terrific card game called Don’t Play With Drugs. It’s frenetic, fun, and fast – you can play a game in five minutes, meaning you can either play a marathon of it, play quick rounds of it in between setting up other board games, or even play it while your Dungeon Master is off taking a break. Right After Then, the company behind the game, did a limited run earlier this year, but fear not – they have a Kickstarter running now, which you should absolutely back. I caught up with the one of the co-creators, Jordan Martin, and asked him a few questions about the game, the Kickstarter, and what else they have in the works. (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 8, 2013 – Pacific Rim

So I have to admit, I’m pretty excited! We’re going to an early screening of Pacific Rim tonight, courtesy of Geekadelphia. It’s going to be pretty weird to hear GLaDOS’ voice in a movie theater, but I’m really looking forward to it!

Not really a lot of deals going on today, unless you want to talk about pre-order bonuses at Amazon. They’re advertising a deal to get 10% off Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Brave New World, as well as $10 promotional credits for Batman: Arkham Origins and Lego Marvel Super Heroes. I’m personally hoping they end up doing some promotional credit with the Saints Row IV: Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Behold: t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 5, 2013 – Bundles and t-shirts

I hope everyone had a lovely fourth of July yesterday! Many of my friends went to the Parkway, where there are concerts and fireworks all day and night. I can’t stand the heat and crowds… and the fact that a panicked stampede started over someone with a BB gun made the idea of it even worse. I’m glad all my friends are safe!

Speaking of hot, Amazon’s got some seriously hot bundles going on right now. Well, OK, they’re not amazing, but $10 off the PlayStation 4 Battlefield 4 Launch Day Bundle and the PlayStation 4 Killzone Launch Day Bundle is better than nothing, right? And I won’t lie – the PS3 500 GB Grand Theft Auto V Bundle looks pretty darn sexy.

What I’m really excited for today, though, is the t-shirts! (more…)

Remember Me Review: Beauty and Innovation Marred by Misogyny

rememberme-header

Remember Me, developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom, snuck up on me earlier this month. It’s a third-person action-adventure game which relies heavily on melee combat. From the outset, it seemed to be the full package, with stunning visuals, a fascinating female lead character, and a compelling story. But is it a game worth remembering, or a game you’d rather soon forget? (more…)
