Daily Scoop: September 21, 2012 – Blands, Blands, Blands!
Wow. I’ve spent something like 27 hours in Pandora over the last few days. If I didn’t have to go to the doctor twice (four hours!) or DM for Encounters (three hours!) or sleep (too many hours!), it might have been more. Oh, and I’m back at work today, which eats into my Borderlands 2 time even more. While playing through solo with Zer0 is pretty tough, it’s worth it. He is seriously a badass.
No deals today. Nothing going on at all today. Everyone is just playing the games that came out in the last few months, or attacking their backlogs. Seriously – you don’t need anymore games. Don’t do it, bro!
Instead, go pre-order the new Borderlands book, Borderlands #2: Unconquered. Or get ready for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Pick your flavor! Or do both. All the things!
Two pretty cool shirts for you to spend your boondollars on today: (more…)

Daily Scoop: September 17, 2012 – Borderlands 2 tonight!
I am freaking out over how excited I am about Borderlands 2 coming out at midnight tonight. Please don’t expect me to be coherent for a few days. I’m going to be destroying everything I see in Pandora for at least the first 24 hours. I’m playing it on the PlayStation 3, which seems to be depressing some of my friends, but oh well. I’m doing this! I’m making it happen.
Interested in playing with my friends and me while we wreak havoc across the planet? Leave a comment here or tweet at us (@WarpZoned) and tell me why you think you’re worth it. The luckiest person will get an invite to my PSN friends list and can see how pathetic my trophy collection really is.
Amazon’s got a few deals today:
- 20% off Darksiders II
- $50 off Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel
- Get a $10 credit for pre-ordering Pro Evolution Soccer 2013
- $10 credit also available for pre-ordering Lego Lord of the Rings!
Sadly, this Monday brings us only two t-shirts! (more…)
Steam community approves first ten Greenlight games
Valve has announced the first ten titles that have been approved for Steam Greenlight. Greenlight is a new Valve initiative, meant to utilize the community to select the next upcoming games to be released on their platform, Steam. These first titles will be released in the coming months, depending on their completion dates (as they are all at different levels currently).
The ten games are:
- Black Mesa
- Cry of Fear
- Dream
- Heroes & Generals
- Kenshi
- McPixel
- No More Room in Hell
- Project Zomboid
- Routine
- Towns
Valve business developer Anna Sweet said, “The Steam community rallied around these titles and made them the clear choice for the first set of titles to launch out of Greenlight. Since launch, hundreds of titles have been submitted, with more coming in every day. We expect to be announcing more titles coming to Steam via Greenlight soon.”
For more information on the games, check out the Greenlight site.
New Little King’s Story coming to Vita on October 2
New Little King’s Story will be coming to the PlayStation Vita on October 2. XSEED’s follow-up to 2009’s Little King’s Story for the Wii will feature a new storyline as King Corobo, hot on the trail of “Nightmare,” the Devil King, who has taken his kingdom.
As King Corobo, you will visit seven kingdoms to free the seven captured princesses. Players will lead the Royal Guard into battle, strategizing to win back their land. The game will include online features, including DLC, cooperative play with item combining, and leaderboards, as well as upgraded visuals and touch controls.
Again, New Little King’s Story will be available via download on the PlayStation Vita on October 2.

Fuse (formerly known as Overstrike) set for March 2013 release
Insomniac Games is working with EA on its first multiplatform release. Originally known as Overstrike, it’s now called Fuse. The official announcement trailer can be seen above, and it’s a bit different from the E3 2011 trailer.
While the Insomniac feel is still there – the crazy weapons, the giant enemies – there’s definitely a change in tone between those two trailers. Gone is the cartoony fun we know from Ratchet and Clank. There’s more of a Resistance feel happening here, but even that seems a bit stripped down. Hopefully teaming up with EA and going multiplatform isn’t choking the creativity out of this much-beloved studio.
Obsidian wants to fund isometric RPG Project Eternity through Kickstarter
Obsidian Entertainment is at it again. The great minds who brought us Fallout and Fallout 2, as well as the Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale franchises and many, many others, are working on a new PC game tentatively titled Project Eternity.
The tease they posted as “Project X” a few days ago is now a Kickstarter project. As with many companies these days, Obsidian doesn’t want to compromise their dreams with a publisher, and is going right to the public. The Kickstarter page describes the scope of Project Eternity:
Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.
Combat uses a tactical real-time with pause system – positioning your party and coordinating attacks and abilities is one of the keys to success. The world map is dotted with unique locations and wilderness ripe for exploration and questing. You’ll create your own character and collect companions along the way – taking him or her not just through this story, but, with your continued support, through future adventures. You will engage in dialogues that are deep, and offer many choices to determine the fate of you and your party. …and you’ll experience a story that explores mature themes and presents you with complex, difficult choices to shape how your story plays out.
Intrigued? Go fund them. Heck, if you’ve got a grand laying around, you can even help design the game, creating your own NPC.

Daily Scoop: September 14, 2012 – Friday, hooray!
It’s Friday at last! And I’m afraid I’m still sick. Fever + tummy problems = a sad panda. I am still slogging through it to do some laundry, though that cleaning I really wanted to get done is just going to have to get put off yet again. At least I can still play video games! Right now I’m deciding between more of The Last Story on the Wii or Link’s Awakening on my 3DS. Decisions, decisions…
There are a few deals going on at Target right now, including $10 off Madden NFL 13 and $20 off Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Scoop ’em up!
But the big news right now is that I found out there’s a midnight release of Borderlands 2 right here in Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Love does not often hold these midnight releases, so I’m glad my most anticipated game of the year is one of them! Don’t expect me to be coherent next week, folks.
And now… t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: September 13, 2012 – Late scoop
Whew. After having a battle with the Internet people and then stopping off to pre-order Borderlands 2, then doing laundry and washing the dishes and feeding myself, I am wiped out. Having a fever on a beautiful day should be illegal. Also so should conglomerates that have a monopoly on Internet consumption. Also spiders, and expensive plane tickets.
As far as deals go, check out the Bargain Bin over at Gamefly for some games on the cheap. You can get Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for $8.99, SOCOM 4 for $9.99, and UFC Undisputed 2010 for $12.99, among other things. Scoop ’em up!
There’s a definite Mario theme to today’s t-shirts… (more…)
