Daily Scoop: July 10, 2012 – Rhythm Fever

Strange things are afoot this Tuesday! I’ve been reading about this strange game based in Paris, Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure, and I’m frankly not sure what to think of it. It’s like a rhythm game… with a story… that is in France? Or something. I don’t know, but I’m intrigued!

There’s really not much going on deals-wise, unless you want to just check what I wrote yesterday. Everything except that sweet ModNation Racers: Road Trip is still available. Scoop ’em up!

What I do have for you are more game-related t-shirts – four total! Check them out after the jump! (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 9, 2012 – End of tiny vacation

Well, my tiny vacation has come to an end, and I am sad. It was only five days, and most of it was spent doing homework. Really, most of it. I spent more time doing homework than I spent sweating, and I was practically sweating the entire time. I guess what I’m trying to say is: I’ve got a lot of homework.

But I’ve also got a lot of deals for you! Best Buy is having a buy 2, get 1 free sale on games that are priced at $29.99 or higher. There are no specifics other than that on the site, and it says that it’s in-store only, so get thee to the nearest Best Buy if there are some games you want to grab up!

Speaking of in-store, GameStop is selling ModNation Racers: Road Trip for $9.99 today only, and only if you go to the store. I’m going to pick up this Vita game as soon as I’m done work… that is, if my store still has it in stock. They better!

Amazon’s also got a bunch of new deals up this week:

But wait… there’s more! I’ve also got three game-related t-shirts for you today! (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 3, 2012 – Almost time to grill!

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July! For normal people, that means grilling meat, watching fireworks, getting drunk, and being a sweet meal for mosquitoes. For me? I don’t know what it means. I’m hoping it means I can do some laundry, order some Chinese food, and watch this week’s episode of True Blood. Oh, and play some board games, and maybe check out Dungeonbowl. Nothing says national pride more than that.

Anyway, deals! What’s up for today? First of all, Amazon’s having a sweepstakes – the Seattle Gamer Weekend Sweepstakes, to be exact. The winner will get a trip to sold-out PAX Prime in Seattle (squee!), and the first two losers will get PlayStation 3 consoles. Suckers!

Deals at Amazon this week are:

That’s some pretty good deals right there! And there are also two pretty fantastic game-related shirts today as well… (more…)

Daily Scoop: June 28, 2012 – Dangerously high levels of Zelda

Not really much going on today, folks! Amazon is still having that Warner Bros. Summer Vacation sale, in which select WB games are up to 25% off. Also, there’s a Dragon Age digital sale, with games in the series going for ridiculously low prices. Get on board and scoop ’em up!

There aren’t really any other deals today. I have been trolling the Internet the last few days and there have been no good deals. I’m getting antsy for some deals, actually – I wish I could find a sanely priced copy of Pokemon: Platinum, for example. But alas, what I really want is Hermione Granger’s time-turner, to turn back time and give me what I need to cram everything in my schedule.

Or, you know, I could just post these around my office, like Geekadelphia‘s Eric Smith did to his:

In other news, there are three game-related shirts today, and two of them are Zelda-related: (more…)

Daily Scoop: June 27, 2012 – No deals

Today is one of those days that I want to curl up in bed with a controller and play Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One while eating ice cream and having my cats circle me like vicious sharks, waiting to pounce and eat my precious dessert breakfast. Wow. Was that really specific? Like it’s something I think about on the regular? Well, maybe that’s because I do.

Anyway, what’s up with deals today? That’s a really good question. The answer to that question is that there are really no good deals out there. I have looked into the Internet, and I have found it wanting. Unless your ideal dream is to save $30 when you buy a Linksys router and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, that is. Because that is a thing.

The good news is that there are two game-related t-shirts today. Woohoo! (more…)

Just one t-shirt today, but it’s a good one: (more…)

Daily Scoop: June 25, 2012 – Just another manic Monday

I keep defeating Mondays, but they just keep appearing. Is there a machine spawning them? Can I kill it? Please? I want to kill it dead. Maybe I could find the machine that spawns Saturdays and hack it…

Amazon’s got a bunch of all-new weekly deals, at least! Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge for the Xbox 360 is on sale for $29.48, and Men In Black: Alien Crisis is $39.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and $39.96 for the Wii. Also on sale is iCarly: Groovy Foodie! for the Nintendo DS (you know you want it) and the Dragon Age Pack download is just $9.99. Yowza. Scoop ’em up!

Two video-game related shirts on the daily sites today: (more…)

EA and DreamWorks working on Need For Speed movie

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Man, I sure wish Need For Speed was a movie,” guess what? Your dreams about to come true! That’s right, DreamWorks announced today that they’re making a movie based on EA’s racing game franchise.

The screenplay, which is based on the series but not on any specific installment, was written by George Gatins. He and his brother, John, first developed the story together. John, Mark Sourian, and EA will produce the film, with Act of Valor‘s Scott Waugh’s name also attached. The movie is scheduled to start filming next year with a release date the following year.

DreamWorks Chairman, Steven Spielberg, said, “I’m excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA to bring to life an exhilarating script based on an epic video game that seems to have been made for the movies.” Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of the EA Games Label, said, “It’s fantastic to be working with a team that shares not only our love of cars, but also our passion for creating blockbuster action experiences. This collaboration will be greatly enhanced with the team at DreamWorks – which is a great home for the Need for Speed franchise.”

Please tell me Jason Statham is going to be in this movie. Please.
