Daily Scoop: June 22, 2012 – Feeling hot, hot, hot

Wow, it’s really been scorching here! It’s supposed to get cooler today, but only because we’re also supposed to get a metric buttload of rain. You heard me right: a metric buttload. That’s a lot.

Really, no deals at all today. I did troll around Amazon’s under $10 deals, and discovered a few gems, like Resident Evil 4 for Wii, Assassins Creed I and II for PC, Fable: The Lost Chapters for Xbox, Need for Speed Most Wanted for PSP, and lots of stuff for Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures. Check ’em out!

Sine Mora shoots its way to PSN soon

Sine Mora, the gorgeous dieselpunk shoot ’em up, is making its to the PlayStation Network. Created by Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture, the game was released on Xbox Live Arcade to much fanfare. At E3, they showed off Sine Mora on the Vita, and announced it will be releasing for the new handheld soon.

Balazs Horvath, director of publishing at Digital Reality, said, “After having an extremely successful launch on Xbox Live Arcade and revealing the Vita version at E3 to much appraise, we’re as excited as ever to bring the experience to yet another platform. More important than anything, we created something we love, and we know Sine Mora be loved yet again on PlayStation 3.”

Packed with tons of characters, color, and even the ability to control time, scored by Akira Yamaoka, and with animation set pieces by Mahiro Maeda, this game packs a lot of punch. Check out the official website for more details.

Mike Tyson sinks his teeth into a WWE ’13 appearance

Ever want to play as the “baddest man on the planet?” Then you better pre-order WWE ’13, because then you’ll be able to control “Iron” Mike Tyson himself from his “Attitude Era” days, the fondly remembered pro-wrestling era of the mid-to-late 90s.

WWE ’13 will be available on PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on October 30. I wonder if there will be an Easter Egg playing as Tyson where you can punch Zach Galifianakis.

Xbox Live Rewards to hand out prizes based on Achievements

Xbox 360 Achievements are about to give you more than just bragging rights. According to the Xbox Live Rewards official Twitter account, soon your Achievements will allow you to earn rewards:

The Xbox Live Rewards program gives you points for doing things like renewing your Gold Membership, buying items on the Marketplace, and taking surveys. These points can be spent just like Microsoft Points, feeding right back into the monster. And now, all those hours you spent playing BioShock without dying are going to pay off – in real life money. Righteous.

Daily Scoop: June 20, 2012 – Summer solstice

Well, summer has definitely arrived! It’s set to be a blazing hot Wednesday here in Philadelphia. But hey, at least it’s Wednesday! The week is nearly halfway over.

Not very many deals today, other than the Warner Bros. Summer Vacation sale going on at Amazon. Get up to 25% off of Lego Battles Ninjago, the Scribblenauts games, and Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, among others.

Three shirts today, one of which is an unsurprising purchase for me: (more…)

Daily Scoop – June 19, 2012 – Cranky edition

It’s a beautiful Tuesday, which should mean I’m in a mood to match, but I’m super cranky for some reason. My stomach’s been acting up again, so no coffee for me, and no coffee means tired Nicole, and tired Nicole usually means cranky Nicole. Sigh. I just want to play my DS all day…

What’s up in the deal world today? Not too much, sadly. Amazon is offering $10 off Xbox Live 3 Month Gold Memberships, bringing them down to $14.99 from $24.99. Also, if you buy a Kinect sensor with Kinect Adventures, you’ll receive Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor for free. Not bad, not bad.

Not much else going on, really – other than all the neat stuff you can get for pre-ordering games right now. If you pre-order Amazing Spider-Man, you get the Stan Lee Adventure Pack, which lets you look for missing pages from Lee’s latest script. Oh, and he voices it, too. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy comes with a gripped stylus and stickers to put on it. Talk about adorable!

Daily Scoop: June 18, 2012 – Another Monday

Here we are, yet another Monday. Do they ever stop coming? I would love to declare a ceasefire in my war against it, but it’s just so despicable most weeks. Can’t we ever just start the week on a Wednesday? It would be so much more pleasant!

Anyway, onto the deals! Amazon’s got a few up its sleeve today:

Also, if you buy Max Payne 3 right now, you get Max Payne Mobile and Max Payne 2 for free. Whew. That’s a lot of deals!

Daily Scoop: June 15, 2012 – The many masks

Well, I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday, and I was bummed out to discover it was only Friday! But at least the weekend is a few hours closer. I hope to catch up on some sleep and chores! Well, I mean, I’d rather be gaming and writing, but sometimes you need to take out the trash, if you know what I’m saying.

Amazon’s got some solid downloadable PC deals right now – you can get Risen for $5.99, Dead Island for $11.99, or The Darkness II for $12.49. Best Buy is having some sales on games as well – you can get Dirt 3 for 50% off (if you’re a Reward Zone member, that is). They’ve also got an extensive sale list, including games like FIFA Soccer 12 ($39.99), Battlefield 3 ($39.99), and Mortal Kombat ($29.99). Scoop ’em up!
