Daily Scoop: December 12, 2011 – VGAs Edition
Did you watch the Spike TV Video Game Awards this weekend? No??? Well, what are you waiting for?!?! I missed them due to a massive Dungeons & Dragons marathon, but my awesome boyfriend’s awesome dad DVRed them for me, so I’m hoping to watch them tonight. In the meantime, I’ve been trying to avoid Twitter, my email, and even the front page of this very website to try to remain spoiler-free… though I’m failing horribly so far.
It’s the fourteenth day of Amazon’s 19 Days of Deals, and it’s all about the Call of Duty Series! Save up to 50% on any and all of the Call of Duty/Modern Warfare games you might be missing.
Today’s Shirt Punch is so cute I could squeak: (more…)

Battlefield 3 “Wake Island” gameplay trailer makes waves
Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand is now available for PlayStation 3 owners. Xbox 360 and PC players will just have to watch that trailer and drool over the incredibly ridiculous things DICE has accomplished here… at least until December 13th. Then you can pick it up for $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points and play on the “Wake Island” map yourself.
Can you say Modern Whatfare?

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown app now available for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch

Buckle your utility belt and get ready for an exciting ride! The Batman: Arkham City Lockdown app is now available for your iDevice. Warner Bros – in collaboration with DC Entertainment – announced the release of the app today.
The app – which features favorite baddies like The Joker, Two Face, Solomon Grundy, and Deathstroke – was developed by NetherRealm Studios, the brutal geniuses behind the Mortal Kombat franchise. Creative Director Ed Boon said, “We here at NetherRealm Studios are huge fans of Batman: Arkham City, and we were very excited to develop Batman: Arkham City Lockdown to extend the franchise experience to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The app delivers a different take on Batman gameplay in which players must combat against some of the fan favorite villains in Arkham City.”
Players can also stream the game from their iDevice to their HDTV using Apple TV through a new feature called AirPlay. Check out the app now at iTunes, and follow the Facebook and Twitter pages to keep up to date on information about Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.
Daily Scoop: December 8, 2011 – The weekend approaches!
The good news is that the rain cleared up and it looks gorgeous outside. The bad news is that the weather has dropped 20 degrees! This season needs to stop being so bipolar all the time.

Daily Scoop: December 7, 2011 – Lego Day!
It’s a dreary day here in Philadelphia, and I’ve been listening to Radiohead nonstop. I had “Where I End and You Begin” stuck in my head when I woke up, so I started with Hail to the Thief and just kept it going. I love days when I remember how beautiful The Bends is…
Anyway, it’s the ninth day of Amazon’s 19 Days of Deals, and it’s Lego Day, hooray!! You can save up to 33% on all those Lego titles you’ve been meaning to pick up, like Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. Scoop ’em up! And if you’ve got any extra Legos just laying around, consider playing some Brikwars. Seriously, it is amazing.
There’s also the Deal of the Day in video games, which is a $50 credit with the Xbox 360 250GB Holiday Value Bundle. Not enough? You still want more? How about this giant Buy One, Get One 50% Off sale? Or the fact that GameStop is going to start their Buy Two Used Games, Get One Free sale in two days – tomorrow for Power Up Rewards members? In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s the holiday season.

Resistance 3 Review: It Won’t Be Hard to Resist This Game

Insomniac Games had a lot to live up to with the newest entry in the Resistance series. The ending of Resistance 2 was so devastating, so powerful, so moving, that it was impossible for me to predict what was going to come next. I imagined some sort of intense space opera moving from there, possibly where humans went out into space, searching the rift that was created at the end of the second game. I created whole storylines in my head, many of which involved Hale somehow still being alive. But what I didn’t imagine was the utter and complete disappointment that would be Resistance 3. (more…)

Daily Scoop: December 5, 2011 – Kaaaaart!
It’s only been out for a little over 24 hours, and yet I can’t stop playing Mario Kart 7. It is so much fun! Especially the gliding, and the going underwater, and the retro circuits, and… yeah. Pretty much everything. The only problem with all Mario Kart games made after Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is that the DD music is always stuck in my head. Not that that’s a bad thing…
So today is day 7 of Amazon’s 19 Days of Deals, and it’s Music & Dance Day! Leading the pack on these deals is Just Dance 3 coming in at $25.99 on the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. That’s what I call a scoop!
No game shirts today, but I love Nowhere Bad‘s “Vote Bueller:” (more…)
Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth Review: You Remind Me of the Drake

Christopher Golden’s Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth is another tale set in Nathan Drake’s adventure-filled universe. For the first time, fans get to follow Drake through the plot of a book instead of actually getting to control him through one of Naughty Dog’s beloved games. As Drake and his mentor, Sully, race across the world trying to unlock the secrets of the labyrinths built by Daedalus, they unravel an ancient mystery and end up with more than they bargained for. But is an intriguing plot fueled by these famous characters enough for this book to be a success? (more…)
