Nintendo continues to populate the Virtual Console in this week’s Nintendo Download. NES Open Tournament Golf, one of the first “Mario Sports” games, will be available to download through the Wii U and Adventure Island II, one of the NES’s great platformers, is now available for the 3DS.
In original games this week, the Wii U will receive Blok Drop U, a bite-sized puzzle game that is played directly on the Wii U GamePad.
And there’s two new games over on the 3DS eShop. The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths is an adventure game based on the 1980s anime and Vacation Adventures: Park Ranger is a hidden object game that tasks the player with finding items in a park.
More details on all of these titles can be found after the break. (more…)

Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation Pack coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360 on April 3
Activision has announced that the next piece of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Ghosts, the Devastation Map Pack, will be available to download on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on April 3. Like the previous map packs, the Devastation Map Pack, which is priced at $14.99, will add four new maps to the game’s multiplayer mode alongside a new gun and the next Extinction Mode episode.
The Devastation Pack promises plenty of excitement as each of the four maps offers something for every CoD player. “Ruins” will include an erupting volcano, “Collision” is “a mangle of debris,” “Behemoth” is a sniper’s paradise, and “Unearthed” is a recreation of Modern Warfare 3‘s “Dome.” And the pack’s new weapon, the Ripper, is a Sub Machine-Gun (SMG)/Assault Rifle combo that will surely live up to its name.
Finally, the “Mayday” expansion to Ghosts’ Extinction Mode will take place on “a mysterious Chinese research vessel” as the alien hunters come face-to-face with a giant Cryptid known as The Kraken.
If history is any guide, the pack will make its way to the PC, PS3, and PS4 by the end of April. More details on the maps of the Devastation Map Pack can be found after the break. (more…)
Watch Dogs will have its release day on May 27
After a false start last Fall, Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs will finally be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on May 27. A Wii U release will follow at “a later date.”
To celebrate the release date news, Ubisoft has released a new “Story Trailer” for Watch Dogs that delves deeper into why main character Aiden Pearce is using his hacking skills to take down Chicago’s organized crime syndiate.
Transistor soundtrack is done, is the game far behind?

Ashley Barrett, the soulful singer behind many of Bastion‘s great tunes (and the voice of Zia) has revealed, via Twitter, that the soundtrack for Supergiant’s next game, Transistor, has been completed:
That's a wrap! Can you tell @darrenkorb and I are stoked on life? Get ready for an epic #transistor… http://t.co/GGvH2K8SZD
— ashbarrett (@ashbarrett) March 6, 2014
Transistor, like Bastion before it, was composed by Supergiant’s Darren Korb. Barrett will, once again, provide the vocals for almost all of the songs as well as voice the game’s main character, Red. We still don’t have a release date for Transistor, but after the completion of the soundtrack, it shouldn’t be too far off now.
Supergiant plans to bring the game, which is in development for the PC and PS4, to this year’s PAX East expo.

Tumblestone will bring back the multiplayer puzzle game this Fall
The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild, besides having one of the coolest company names in the business, released The Bridge to almost universal acclaim last year on the PC and Xbox Live Arcade. Now they’re back with their next game: Tumblestone.
Tumblestone is a multiplayer match-3 puzzler that looks like a mashup of Bust-A-Move‘s cannon and Puzzle Fighter‘s block-filled stack. Like any good multiplayer puzzler, matching three squares of the same color will dump them on the player to your right and the last one standing wins. In addition to the main multiplayer mode, Tumblestone will also include a cooperative multiplayer mode, several single-player modes, and multiple cannon operators on the character select screen (presumably, each will have their own skillset when it comes to manning the cannon).
Tumblestone is currently scheduled to be released this Fall for PC platforms (PC/Mac/Linux) via Steam. The game will also be released for tablets and the Xbox Live Arcade (Xbox 360) at a later date. If you want to give Tumblestone a playthrough before its released, Ty Taylor of The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild will appear at this weekend’s SXSW festival and April’s PAX East expo to demonstrate the game’s multiplayer mode.

Daily Scoop: March 5, 2014 – Humpday already
It’s the middle of the week, which means it’s getting closer to the weekend! I hear the weather is going to be beautiful, which means I might even try to spend some time outside. Or maybe I’ll just open the windows while I play games inside. That’s pretty close to going out, right?
There are a few deals happening at Amazon. You can pick up Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag for $29.99, Killzone: Shadow Fall for $39.99, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII for $49.99.
Steam has some deals as well. Their Midweek Madness deal right now is The Walking Dead: Season 2 for $16.74. The Daily Deal is Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Rise of the Owlverlord for $1.24. Scoop ’em up!

XBL Store Today: Walking Dead S2 Ep 2, South Park: Stick of Truth, NASCAR 14

Three new Xbox 360 games have been added to the Xbox Live Game Store today and they surely include something for everybody:
- The Walking Dead Season 2: A House Divided – The second episode of Telltale’s continuing story of Clementine and her run-ins with the living dead is now available. Season Pass owners will be able to download it for free while the rest of us will have to pay $5.
- South Park: The Stick of Truth – Obsidian’s oft-delayed South Park RPG has finally been released after jumping from (the now bankrupt) THQ to Ubisoft and receiving almost a year’s worth of polish.
- NASCAR 14 – Deep Silver takes over publishing duties as Eutechnyx releases another game in the long-runing stock car racing simulation series.
More details on all three titles can be found after the break. (more…)
