Pikmin For Nintendo 3DS will launch in 2017
Captain Olimar and the Pikmin will make their 3DS debut next year in Pikmin For Nintendo 3DS (working title), a side-scrolling adventure that’s also full of action:
A new side-scrolling Pikmin adventure game unlike Pikmin games of the past is coming to Nintendo 3DS. Pikmin follow Olimar around, and players tap the touch screen where they want to throw them. This is designed as an action game that makes players think fast and use every Pikmin to overcome anything that stands in their way.
Famed developer Shigeru Miyamoto previously revealed that Pikmin 4, a rather mysterious sequel for the Wii U, is also in the works. However, Nintendo has yet to officially announce Pikmin 4, and it’s entirely possible the next adventure starring the helpful creatures was transformed into Pikmin For Nintendo 3DS.
But while I’m speculating, maybe Pikmin 4 got moved to the Nintendo NX. Stranger things have happened…

Yoshi’s Woolly World will be released on the 3DS as Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World in February 2017
In case you missed it, Nintendo unveiled a ton of new 3DS titles during last week’s Nintendo Direct presentation. That includes Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, a 3DS adaptation of the yarn-based Wii U platformer.
Containing every stage from the Wii U original, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World will also include new stages starring Poochy, and a pack of Poochy Pups that’ll help Yoshi discover secrets. A Poochy Amiibo figure is also in the works, and 30 stop-motion shorts starring Yoshi and Poochy will be included on the game cartridge.
That is a lot of bonus material, and it’ll all be available in Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World when it launches on February 3, 2017.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King’s 3DS debut pushed back to 2017
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will be available for the 3DS in exactly two weeks, but did you know that Nintendo and Square Enix are also toiling away at a brand new version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for the handheld?
Unfortunately, a short blurb during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation confirmed the RPG re-release won’t make its 3DS debut until sometime in 2017.
Previously expected to be available in North America before the end of the year, no reason was given for the delay, but the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was described by a Nintendo Direct host as “more feature-rich than ever.”

New Zelda Amiibo coming December 2: 8-Bit Link, OoT Link, Wind Waker Link/Zelda 2-Pack
While the crazed fervor for Amiibo figures has died down considerably since their 2014 debut, the collectible toys are still quite popular with fans, and Nintendo doesn’t look to be slowing down production on new figures anytime soon.
Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced plans to celebrate The Legend of Zelda‘s 30th anniversary with four new Amiibo figures, all of which will be available on December 2. An NES-inspired “8-Bit Link” figure will certainly get fans talking, and it’ll be joined on store shelves by another Link based on his Ocarina of Time appearance, and a two-pack that includes both Toon Link and Zelda from The Wind Waker.
These Amiibo figures will feature the same functionality as the other Link, Toon Link, and Zelda figures from the Super Smash Bros. series, but they’ll also provide special functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it launches next year.
The exact specifics of this special functionality will be announced at a later date.

Nintendo Download: Axiom Verge, Zelda Skyward Sword, Picross 3D Round 2, more
After looking to NES classics like Metroid and Contra for inspiration, Thomas Happ is finally ready to bring his retro-flavored side-scroller, Axiom Verge, to the Wii U this week. As the first game in Nintendo’s “Nindies Summer Jam” promotion on the eShop, Axiom Verge’s Wii U debut will offer Off-TV Play, Leaderboards, and a Speedrun Mode.
Two other games unveiled by Nintendo during this morning’s Nintendo Direct presentation are also now available to download through the Nintendo eShop. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Link’s only full-length adventure developed exclusively for the Wii, is now available to download through the Wii U eShop. And over on the 3DS, players can chip away at a three-dimensional block puzzle in Picross 3D Round 2.
More information on all of these games (and a huge number of other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Nintendo will release Super Mario Maker for 3DS on December 2
Super Mario Maker is coming to the 3DS this Fall! Announced during Nintendo’s newest Nintendo Direct presentation this morning, Super Mario Maker For Nintendo 3DS will be available on December 2, and it’ll be nearly identical to its Wii U sibling.
Super Mario Maker For Nintendo 3DS players won’t be able to upload their creations to the Internet, but they will be able to share courses locally with friends through a wireless connection or StreetPass. To make up for this missing feature, Nintendo has added a collaborative level-editing mode for two players to Super Mario Maker For Nintendo 3DS.
In addition to building their own courses, players will also be able to take on 100 Nintendo-designed courses (with added 3DS-exclusive objectives) and download “select” courses from the Wii U version in 100 Mario Challenge.
You can get your first glimpse at Super Mario Maker For Nintendo 3DS by viewing its first trailer, embedded above.

Nintendo Download: Super Mario 64 DS, a trio of Street Fighter games, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice demo, more
Welcome to this week’s Nintendo eShop update, where Wii U owners can now download the handheld remake of Mario’s first foray into the 3D space, Super Mario 64 DS. I’ve never thought about it before, but the Virtual Console can get weird sometimes.
Speaking of weird, 3DS owners will be able to download a Demo Version of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice beginning today. The game, which will be available exclusively through the 3DS eShop on September 8, features a section from the game’s first courtroom clash between Phoenix Wright and his new adversary, Royal Priestess Rayfa.
Capcom is tripling down on the 3DS eShop with a trio of Street Fighter games that were originally released for the Super NES back in the go-go 90s.
First up is Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, the first update to the original Street Fighter II. Capcom exponentially increased the speed of the game and fans were finally able to play as M. Bison and the other bosses. Next, we’ve got Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, the final update to Street Fighter II on the Super NES, and the game that added Cammy to the franchise. Finally, the Super NES adaptation of the second game in the “Alpha” prequel series, Street Fighter Alpha 2, comes to the Virtual Console this week.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is a 2D action-platforming game in the style of the Japanese classics of yesteryear. The great controls, crisp graphics, unique play mechanics and epic boss battles from the first installment are all here, along with a host of new features.
“Our Nindie partners have been hard at work creating amazing content for Nintendo fans,” said Nintendo of America’s Damon Baker. “The Nindies Summer Jam promotion not only makes it easy for fans to check out all the latest and greatest indie games on Nintendo eShop, but to also learn more about the developers that have worked so hard to create them.”
Nintendo also plans to add more than a dozen other Nindies to the Nintendo eShop throughout the Fall. That schedule is available after the break. (more…)
