Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, Ikaruga, more coming to Nintendo eShop this week

It’s another big week for the Nintendo eShop as two of the greatest games of all time come to the Switch alongside a handful of new releases.

The collection features the original Street Fighter, as well as Street Fighter II (plus its four revisions), Street Fighter III (plus its two revisions), and all three games in the Alpha sub-series.

This week’s eShop update is also a big one for fans of 2D shooters, who will have the opportunity to download Treasure’s Ikaruga for their Switch. The beloved polarity-switching shooter regularly appears on “Best Games of All Time” lists, and it’s available to purchase beginning today.

Switch owners who also consider themselves retro gaming fans can also look forward to the ninja platforming of N++, the Castlevania-inspired Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, and tower defense shenanigans of PixelJunk Monsters 2.

On Tuesday, Switch owners will also be able to download Natsume latest farming sim, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope – Special Edition, and a new RPG from NIS America, Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory.

Finally this week, Dillon the Armadillo makes his 3DS debut in Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers, a post-apocalyptic western where players must defend the people from an invasion of transforming rock monsters.

It’s another big week for Switch owners as the Nintendo eShop will see a double-digit addition of new titles to its virtual shelves over the next seven days.

Leading the pack is Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, a Zelda spinoff from the action specialists at Omega Force and Team Ninja. This time out, CommanderVideo will “jump, double-jump, wall-jump, slide-jump, slide, kick, float, drive, fly, and dance” to prevent the destruction of the multiverse. New Retail Releases: State of Decay 2 Ultimate Edition, Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, Dragon’s Crown Pro, More

We’re coming around again on a lot of great new games this week, but first, Microsoft and Undead Labs have teamed up for a second time to bring us State of Decay 2 for the Xbox One. The zombie survival simulation includes cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, and the “Ultimate Edition” comes bundled with its predecessor, State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition.

But if you’re looking to replay an old favorite, or try it out for the first time in a spiffy new edition, there’s plenty of choices to be had…

Nintendo will re-release Hyrule Warriors for the Switch in a special Definitive Edition that includes everything from the action-packed Wii U game (Hyrule Warriors), as well as the bonus contest from the subsequent 3DS re-release (Hyrule Warriors Legends), and a pair of new costumes for Link and Zelda from Breath of the Wild.

Atlus is also upgrading one of their biggest titles from the previous generation, and the publisher will bring Dragon’s Crown Pro to the PS4 this week. The updated side-scrolling brawler will include English and Japanese audio options, as well as a newly recorded soundtrack, support for 4K visuals, and all previously-released downloadable content.

Atlus is also pulling the same trick on the 3DS this week with the launch of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux. The DS RPG has been upgraded with new story content, additional endings, and a new dungeon to explore.

Other games with new homes this week include THQ Nordic’s Battle Chasers: Nightwar (the RPG moving to the Switch), Red Star’s Hello Kitty Kruisers (the kart racer is also coming to the Switch), and IO Interactive’s Hitman: Definitive Edition (all previously-released content is now available in a single package for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Switch owners with retro sensibilities will enjoy this week’s Nintendo eShop update…

A re-release of Retro’s Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze leads the way, but the side-scroller has some funky new tricks up its sleeve for its Switch debut. The Games of May 2018

Game publishers are launching just a handful of “new” games this month, but Switch owners should be pleased with a slew of big re-releases from Nintendo, Capcom, and Nicalis.

You might not agree with all our choices, but the next four weeks are going to be great if you’re looking forward to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Ikaruga, and many others. It’s almost a shame that Dark Souls Remastered‘s Switch launch was pushed out to the Summer, but at least PC, PS4, and Xbox One players will get to stay on theme.

You can find out exactly why the Warp Zoned staff is looking forward to these games, and view the release schedule for all of this month’s new games, after the break. (more…)
