Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege at this week’s E3, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2015. Ubisoft Montreal is taking the lead on development, and will utilize the company’s Realblast engine.

In Rainbow Six: Siege, enemies will wall themselves in, and the Rainbow Six team will fight their way through using any means necessary. This will give players a unique opportunity to interact with the environment in new ways, seeing different levels of destruction based on what strategies they use.

Ubisoft Creative Director Xavier Marquis said, “As fans of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and tactical shooters in general, we set out to create the game we always wanted to play within the counter-terrorism universe. We asked ourselves ‘how could we capture the incredible tension and unique tactics of these confrontations?’ We found the answer in the Siege gameplay and procedural destruction… Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege is the game that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six fans have been waiting for, and first-person shooter players will be drawn to its unique gameplay.”

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2015. Hit the jump for the full press release. (more…)

Secret Ponchos available on Steam Early Access right now

See that? That is a glorious trailer for Secret Ponchos that Switchblade Monkeys showed at E3 2014. Even more amazing is the fact that the game launched on Steam Early Access just this morning. You can pick it up and start playing right now for just $11.24, which is 25% off the price. You can also get a pack of four copies for $33.74, so you can share them with your friends (and then murder them in-game). Please note, you need a controller to play the game as of right now.

Secret Ponchos was one of our beloved PAXpocalypse picks last year, so we’re excited about this news. The game will be coming to the PlayStation 4 this Fall and the full release of the PC version will be available sometime between this Fall and the first quarter of 2015.

Come watch CoD Advanced Warfare’s 9-minute E3 2014 gameplay walkthrough

I haven’t said this in a long time, but I’m actually pretty excited about the latest Call of Duty, which is called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It has some pretty amazing science fiction elements in it, but looks like it still has that smooth gameplay CoD players know and love. The E3 2014 gameplay walkthrough above shows off part of the “Induction” campaign level, which takes place in Seoul, South Korea. This game has some incredible features, like being able to rip off a car door and use it as a shield.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out on November 4 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Dead Island 2 trailer brings levity to the franchise

This hilarious reveal trailer for Dead Island 2 is a far cry from the depressing Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide trailers, which I find to be a relief. With so many zombie games having already saturated the market, seeing this franchise change from super serious to super silly makes it much more appealing to me. Here’s hoping the gameplay is as fun as this trailer.

Dead Island 2 is powered by Unreal Engine 4, and will be coming to PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One next Spring.

Ori and the Blind Forest trailer shows a gorgeous new platformer for Xbox One

Ori and the Blind Forest is a hauntingly beautiful new game coming to the Xbox One. It combines action-adventure and platforming, and promises deep gameplay and a story that will probably make me cry. A lot.

Ori and the Blind Forest will be out in the Fall for Xbox One, and Inc Gamers says it’s also coming to PC.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity single-player and multiplayer gameplay walkthroughs show you the French Revolution up close

Ubisoft has been anything but stingy with their gameplay videos of Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Above is the official E3 co-op gameplay trailer, which shows you the elaborate online system, and promises that you’ll have so many options that no experience will be the same twice. After the jump, you’ll see an equally awesome single-player gameplay trailer, which takes you through the chaotic streets of Paris during the French Revolution.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be out on October 28 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. (more…)

Mortal Kombat X: Ed Boon reveals new characters and story, gameplay details

Ed Boon, the Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, stopped by the PlayStation Blog Stage yesterday to talk about Mortal Kombat X. Secrets were revealed as Boon was finally ready to reveal the future of Mortal Kombat.

Those who enjoyed 2011’s Mortal Kombat will be right at home with Mortal Kombat X. The game uses a very similar fighting engine and retains the three-tiered Super Meter. Boon says the Meter has been “refined,” but it still offers the same progression of Enhanced Attack to Breaker to X-Ray Move. And for those that played NetherRealm’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, Boon confirmed that the interactive stages first seen in that game will also appear in MKX.

Boon also revealed some new stuff, including four brand new characters. Currently, the Character Selection screen has 24 slots. This may change in the future, but as it stands today, we’re looking at 18 additional characters yet to be discovered. D’Vorah is the half-insect/half-human character that we saw in the debut trailer as she did battle with Torr and Ferra, “the big hulk and the little lady on his shoulders,” according to Boon. We also got a quick glimpse of Kotal Kahn and Cassie Cage, who is the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Boon said that her attacks will be patterned after both of her parents.

Before a fight, players will be able to select a Variation for each character. Similar to Fighting Styles from the Deadly Alliance trilogy, Variations will open up different attacks and strategic choices for each character.

Finally, the developer opened up about where the story will go after Mortal Kombat’s wild ending. According to Boon, “The story [begins] right after Mortal Kombat (2011) ended and goes as far as 25 years in the future.” That means that descendents of some of the original characters (like Cassie Cage) will show up along with aged versions of the more familiar characters. And the final boss is said to be “surprise returning character” that “not a lot of people will see coming.”

Is it Goro? I bet it’s Goro. Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One sometime in 2015.

E3 2014 Trailer: Battle Cthulhu in Evolve

The four-eyed space squid at the center of Evolve‘s E3 2014 trailer might not be known as Cthulhu in the game, but it was clearly inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s most famous creation.

Evolve will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 21. Before that, Xbox One owners will be able to join an open beta in the Fall to test the game’s online multiplayer and all downloadable content will be made available on the Xbox One first.

UPDATE: 2K has confirmed that the Cthulhu-like Monster will be known as a Kraken.
