WB Games announces a trio of games based on Lego’s Legends of Chima line
The Lego Group and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced their next collaboration… a trio of games based on the brand new Legends of Chima line of Lego sets.
Legends of Chima is Lego’s latest crack at an original universe. The sets, which are available in stores now, takes place in “a mythical land of magical animal tribes who compete for Chi, a valuable energy source which gives them extraordinary powers over one another.”
WB Games (and TT Games, their internal studio specializing in Lego-based titles) has signed on to produce three games based on the toy line. The first, Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorz, is a racing game that’s playable at Lego.com right now and will be available to download from the iTunes App Store beginning tomorrow (January 3).
The second game, Lego Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey, is scheduled for release on the 3DS and Vita this Summer with a DS version set for a Fall 2013 release. Players will “embark on an amazing adventure into the world of Chima where the brave warrior Laval and his allies are called upon to fight for justice” in Laval’s Journey.
Finally, Lego Legends of Chima Online is a free-to-play online game that’s in development at WB Games Monrteal. The game will be available this Fall.
More information on all three of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
Remedy discounts Alan Wake Franchise on Steam, says “greater news to come in 2013”
Remedy is looking ahead to a big 2013, but first they want to make sure everyone gets a good deal on the “Alan Wake Franchise” bundle on Steam. The bundle, which includes Alan Wake, the Alan Wake Extras DLC pack, and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, has been priced at $19.99 (a 50% discount) through January 5.
The Facebook post announcing the sale also confirmed that the developer has “Even greater Remedy news to come in 2013” and Creative Director Sam Lake tweeted this message in the waning hours of 2012:
Happy new year, all you lovely people! In 2013 we can finally start revealing what we’ve been up to. Can hardly wait. It’ll be cool.
— Sam Lake (@SamLakeRMD) December 31, 2012
Lake himself stoked a few Alan Wake 2 rumors last year. Perhaps that’s what Remedy is up to or perhaps not. But it sounds like we’ll find out for sure very soon.

The Golden Pixel Awards 2012: Gaming’s Best, Worst, and Everything Else
![]()
Welcome to Warp Zoned’s second annual Golden Pixel Awards. It was definitely a good year for gaming. With the fight over Mass Effect 3‘s ending, the resurrection of Sleeping Dogs, and the launch of the Wii U, we were treated to 12 months of interesting stories.
So sit back and relax as we reward the best (and worst) games of 2012 with a series of accolades based on their rather unique accomplishments.
The Apocalypse List
The bombs have fallen, the economy has collapsed, food is scarce, the zombie hordes are scratching at your door, and you’ve boarded yourself up in a bunker that’ll stand for a hundred years. What better way to spend your time in “The Vault” than by playing Warp Zoned’s favorite games from 2012? It doesn’t matter if you call it a “Top Ten List” or “Our Favorites From 2012,” but these are the games we plan to keep playing even if there was no game industry to keep making games. (more…)

EA shutting down online servers for NBA Jam, NBA Live 10, Sims 2, more
Electronic Arts has announced another round of shutdowns for some of their online-enabled games. This time the hammer is falling on EA Sports’ 2009/2010 slate of games, including NBA Live 10 and NBA Jam. This announcement means that NBA Jam: On Fire Edition becomes EA’s only basketball game with online play.
The publisher is also cutting the cord on online support for The Sims 2, claiming it’s “no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.”
You can find the full list of upcoming server shutdowns after the break. (more…)
Crystal Dynamics adding multiplayer mode to Tomb Raider
Crystal Dynamics’ reboot of Tomb Raider is definitely one of 2013’s most anticipated new releases. But now, in the waning days of 2012, the developer has revealed that they still have one more secret hidden away in Lara Croft’s short shorts… multiplayer!
The first details about the game’s multiplayer mode will appear in the February 2013 issue of Official Xbox Magazine, which should be shipping to subscribers now (it’ll be available at newsstands on January 8).
Do newsstands even exist anymore? They must, but it just sounds wrong.

Rumor: First CoD Black Ops II DLC titled “Revolution,” coming to Xbox 360 next month
A reddit user has uploaded a picture of a poster that supposedly showcases the first downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Titled “Revolution,” the pack will contain four multiplayer maps (Downhill, Grind, Hydro, Mirage), one Zombies map (Die Rise), and one new weapon (Peacekeeper SMG).
A second set of images show that the pack will be released first through the Xbox Live Marketplace on January 29. If history is any guide, the pack will be available for PC and PS3 (and hopefully Wii U) owners a month later.
The first DLC packs for Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops were also released during the last week of January, so this leak is probably legit.
Dead Space 3 WILL recognize your screams of sheer terror

A few weeks ago, EA and Visceral revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space 3 would include Kinect support for voice commands. At the time I wondered, “will it recognize your screams of sheer terror?” Apparently, the answer is yes, yes it will.
Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis recently sat down with CVG and confirmed that swearing and screaming at the Necromoprh terrors within the game will prompt a response from your Xbox 360 copy of Dead Space 3…
CVG: When we think of horror games we think of people screaming and swearing… will Kinect pick up on our feedback?
Papoutsis: Yes! We actually have some commands that people will need to figure out. But there are commands where you might be in a certain situation and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to. We definitely have done some things there…
Wow. Innovation of the year!

Aliens: Colonial Marines story trailer nuked my brain from orbit
Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines is less than two months away. February 12, 2013 to be exact (though TBA on the Wii U). The game has been in development a long time, but it looks like it might just be worth the wait. Especially after the epic story trailer that Sega has dropped onto the Internet today.
“In about 30 seconds that horizon is going to turn black as the most dangerous killing machines in the universe rise up over it.”
Whoa! Welcome to the official sequel to Aliens. It is about time!
