Lego Jurassic World will launch on June 12 with more than 20 playable dinosaurs

Eventually you do plan to have dinosaurs in your, in your dinosaur game, right?

Oh, umm, never mind, Lego Jurassic World will actually feature more than 20 playable dinosaurs and they’re all right here in this new trailer. In addition to this new look at the game’s adorable (and deadly) beasts, WB Games and TT Games have also announced it’ll be available in stores for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on June 12.

Players who plan to purchase Lego Jurassic World from select retailers will also receive a little bonus packed in with the game. These select retailers include GameStop (Lego Dino Trap Mini Playset), Target (Dr. Wu Minifigure), and Walmart ($10 Movie Cash Certificate).

The latest Jurassic Park film, Jurassic World, will also open on June 12, so that Movie Cash Certificate might come in handy.

Odell Beckham wins Madden NFL 16 Cover Vote… and here’s a “First Look” trailer

The one-day Madden NFL 16 Cover Vote is over and New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham has emerged victorious New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Beckham won in a very close vote (53% to 47%, according to ESPN.com/MaddenVote), perhaps due to lingering anger over “Deflategate.” Or perhaps “Deflategate” is the dumbest sports controversy in years and it had nothing to do with the vote. Yeah, I’m going with the latter.

“Odell Beckham Jr. is a true playmaker and a perfect fit for this year’s game,” said Randy Chase, Senior Director of Marketing for EA Sports. “He’s an unstoppable force out on the field, and the Madden NFL 16 cover is further vindication that the fans believe he’s a player to watch in the coming years.”

As always, Madden NFL 16 is in development at EA Tiburon and it’ll be released for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on August 25. You can check out a “First Look” trailer embedded above, but it is a very early look at the game, so don’t expect much insight into what this year’s Madden will look like.

lastofusleftbehind-header

Have you left The Last of Us behind? Maybe the release of a standalone version of The Last of Us: Left Behind on the PlayStation Store will convince you to pick it up again. Now available for just $9.99, the game can be downloaded now on the PS3 and PS4.

Also available this week is a string of other new titles, both big and small…

  • Project CARS (PS4) is a slightly ambitious car racing simulation from Slightly Mad Studios.
  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (PS4) brings two of the best-loved RPGs in the series to Sony’s current-generation console for the first time.
  • Schrodinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark (PS4) is a wacky puzzle platformer that has one of the best titles ever.
  • Nom Nom Galaxy (PS4) is the latest game from PixelJunk creators Q-Games.

More information on all of these titles (and a few others) can be found after the break. And, as always, a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Gronk and Odell Beckham are the finalists for the Madden NFL 16 cover… vote now!

maddennfl16-covervote

The preliminary round voting for the Madden NFL 16 Cover Athlete is over, which means its the end of the line for two of the four semi-finalists. The Internet has spoken and Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson won’t be part of today’s online vote.

Instead, fans are encouraged to head to ESPN.com/MaddenVote to cast their lot behind Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski or Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham. The polls are open all day and the winner will be announced during the 6:00 PM (Eastern Time) edition of SportsCenter.

Voting will surely be close as Gronk’s got a shiny new Super Bowl ring, but Beckham is the owner of the most ridiculous catch in NFL history.

The Evil Within’s final expansion, The Executioner, will be released on May 26

Bethesda has announced that the third (and final) downloadable expansion for The Evil Within will be released on May 26. Titled “The Executioner,” this add-on will allow players to take control of the dreaded Keeper (or Boxman, if you prefer). Besides playing as the ridiculously insane monster, The Executioner expansion will shift the game to a first-person view, forcing players to peer out the safe door the Keeper keeps on his head.

Like the previous expansions, The Executioner will be available as part of The Evil Within’s Season Pass or as a standalone download on the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The Odd Gentlemen assemble an impressive cast for King’s Quest in this new trailer

Sierra Games and The Odd Gentlemen are still toiling away at King’s Quest, but they’re ready to give the game’s expansive voice cast the spotlight in a new behind-the-scenes trailer.

Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd steals the show as Old King Graham, but its Josh Keaton (best known as the voice of Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions) as Young King Graham that players will get to know the most. As the main character of the game, he’ll interact with all the other characters including Tom Kenny (Adventure Time) as the wily Merchant of Miracles, Zelda Williams (The Legend of Korra) as “no-nonsense blacksmith” Amaya Blackstone, Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride) as “clever” Manny, and Maggie Elizabeth Jones (We Bought A Zoo) as Gwendolyn, the King’s granddaughter.

According to the Activision Games Blog, the remainder of the cast will include Michael Benyaer, Loretta Devine, Gideon Emery, Jean Gilpin, Michael Gough, Andy Pessoa, Kevin Michael Richardson, Kath Soucie, Fred Tatasciore, Richard White, and Michael-Leon Wooley.

The first episode of the King’s Quest reboot will be available “later this year” for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Shovel Knight PS3/PS4/Vita/Xbox One Review: Still Digging It

shovelknight-header

What a difference a year can make! This time last year, Shovel Knight was just a promising platformer that was still two months away from release. A lot of people backed its Kickstarter campaign and still more got their hands on it at PAX East and PAX Prime, but most people were probably unaware of its existence. While we liked what we saw at those preview events, we had no idea just how good the game would actually turn out to be.

So here we are in 2015. Shovel Knight made its debut last June and instantly won the hearts of gamers everywhere. Perfect review scores (like this one from us) piled up like the sacks of gold collected by the title character. Six months later, a gaggle of “Game of the Year” awards rained down from outlets across the Internet (including a selection to Warp Zoned’s “Apocalypse List”).

So what does Yacht Club Games do for an encore? They put the exact same game on the PS3/PS4/PS Vita and the Xbox One and add a pair of platform-exclusive bosses. If you bought it last year, there’s no need to buy it again, but everyone else needs to fill the Shovel Knight-sized hole in their tool shed right now. (more…)
