Latest Mortal Kombat X trailer includes all you ever wanted to know about Kitana
Steve Brownback is a Quality Assurance Analyst at NetherRealm Studios and he hosts this latest trailer for Mortal Kombat X. But before Mr. Brownback took a job at the Chicago-based developer, he was a professional gamer on the tournament fighting circuit with an expertise in 2011’s Mortal Kombat and the character of Kitana. And now as a developer, he’s directly influencing Kitana’s design including her three style variations (the defensive “Royal Storm,” the offensive “Assassin,” and the Jade-like “Mournful”). All that and more can be found in this trailer showcasing everyone’s favorite Edenian princess… wait, does Mileena count? Because that would shake up the rankings.
Mortal Kombat X will be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on April 14.
GTA5 PC release slips again as Rockstar synchronizes a March 10 launch for Heists
Just when you thought Grand Theft Auto V was ready to come out for the PC… Rockstar pulls it back in.
Today, the publisher announced that Grand Theft Auto V’s PC edition will miss its previously announced March 24 release date and will launch on April 14 instead. According to Rockstar, the delay is due to the fact that “a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC.”
But speaking of Heists, Rockstar has also announced that the Heat-inspired multiplayer mode will be ready to go for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on March 10. You can steal a glance at some new screenshots from GTA5’s Heists mode at the Rockstar Newswire.
PAX East 2015 Indie Megabooth lineup has been announced
The people behind the Indie Megabooth have announced this year’s PAX East 2015 lineup, which includes 79 games from 76 developers. The mazelike network of booths and carpet will feature a variety of eclectic games including previous PAXpocalypse selections such as Broforce (East 2014), Catlateral Damage (East 2014), Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Prime 2013), Tumblestone (East 2014), and We Are Doomed (Prime 2013).
Trailers for every game are viewable at the Indie Megabooth official site and after taking in the short teasers, I’m sure a few other games will catch your fancy. I know I’m already planning to line up for Black Ice, a neon-coated beat ’em up/first person shooter; One More Line, a mobile game that feels like a Spider-Man simulator; and Titan Souls, a “Zeldalike” from Acidnerve.
In the interests of journalistic integrity, I’d also like to mention that Warp Zoned’s own Nicole Kline and Anthony Amato have earned a spot in this year’s Indie Megabooth Tabletop Area with their game, Resistor. I know I’m biased, but you should check it out.
You should also check out the complete list of games you’ll find within the Indie Megabooth at PAX East 2015, which is available after the break. (more…)

New Releases: Dragon Ball Xenoverse, DW8: Empires, Homeworld Remastered, More

The final week of new releases in February includes a few familiar faces and a few that are… let’s go with less familiar.
Dragon Ball Z is definitely in the very familiar category as the popular anime series has spawned at least two dozen games over the last 20 years. Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the latest game in the series, will be released this week for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. And speaking of long-running franchises, Koei Tecmo will release Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires for the PS4 and Xbox One this week as well.
But the most familiar face might be one that we haven’t seen in a very long time as Gearbox Software is gearing up to release Homeworld Remastered Collection on the PC this week. A compilation containing revamped versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2, the Collection will also include the original versions of both games in all their turn-of-the-millennium glory.
Finally this week, Maximum Games and HB Studios will bring Rugby 15 to the PS3, PS4, and Xbox One this week. Rugby 15 is the first rugby title to be released in North America in four years and will feature a variety of officially licensed leagues including Aviva Premiership Rugby, Pro 12, Top 14, and Pro D2.
The full list of this week’s new retail releases (including games on the PC, PS3, and Vita) can be found after the break. (more…)

Rumor: Harmonix is working on Rock Band 4 for PS4/Xbox One
Bloomberg‘s Danielle Burger is reporting that “a person familiar with the plan” has revealed to her that Rock Band 4 is in development for the PS4 and Xbox One at Harmonix.
This insider chose not to divulge any additional information about the project to Burger, but even though this is all we have to go on, Rock Band’s PS4/Xbox One debut feels less like a rumor and more like an inevitability. Harmonix dropped the curtain on the franchise in 2012 with Rock Band Blitz, but they’ve always seemed interested in a reunion tour on the new-gen consoles.
In recent weeks, Harmonix has even begun releasing new DLC tracks for Blitz and Rock Band 3. A trio of songs were added to the Rock Band Music Store last month and two more, Tenacious D’s “Rize Of The Fenix” and Weezer’s “Back To The Shack,” have been available since Tuesday.
You know, both of those songs seem to hint at a rebirth of sorts, don’t they? Maybe this is Harmonix’s take on the musical tradition of backmasking.

The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC will arrive in March
Bethesda has announced that The Assignment, the first downloadable add-on for The Evil Within, will be released in March.
The publisher isn’t quite ready to give us an expansive look at the game’s first expansion, so the teaser trailer above is all we get for now. The short scene depicts someone hiding in a locker (the slats obscure most of the screen) as some creature calls out the name “Leslie” over and over again. To Wikipedia to make sense of all this!
Once again, The Evil Within: The Assignment will be available to download in March.
Rumor: The Predator will join Mortal Kombat X as a guest character

We’ve known for a while now that the inevitable expansion characters for Mortal Kombat X will include “at least one guest” (and NetherRealm confirmed as much again just two weeks ago). But exactly who these guests will be has been shrouded in mystery. But perhaps it was an invisibility cloak…
VideoGamer.com is reporting that an anonymous source has revealed that the Predator will be added to Mortal Kombat X as a playable character in an upcoming DLC pack. And get this… Carl Weathers’ CIA character from the same film, Colonel Al Dillon, will be joining him. If you’re going to include a character played by Carl Weathers, I would have preferred Apollo Creed, but it’s rather interesting news all the same.
This isn’t the first time that the Predator has been linked to Mortal Kombat X. Back in July, NetherRealm’s Creative Director, Ed Boon, retweeted a fan-made picture of Scorpion squaring off against the extraterrestrial hunter. Nor is this even the first time the Predator has been included as a guest character in a popular game. Last year, the character was featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ Devastation Pack.
Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on April 14. NetherRealm plans to reveal new characters right up until the game’s launch, so we might get an official Predator sighting sooner rather than later.
