The Pinball Arcade: An Interview With Community Manager Rob Mann

In February of this year, FarSight Studios released The Pinball Arcade, their most ambitious pinball simulation game yet. For those unaware, The Pinball Arcade is a collection of real-world pinball tables, painstakingly digitized to the smallest detail and available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and mobile devices. Every month since release, new tables have been added as DLC. And, as a major accomplishment, licensed tables such as “The Twilight Zone” and “Harley-Davidson” were obtained with a little help from the game’s dedicated fan base. Just this past Tuesday, “Elvira and the Party Monsters” and “No Good Gofers” were added to the PlayStation store
As a diehard pinball fan, and a fan of FarSight’s pinball offerings in general, I was eager to learn more about The Pinball Arcade. Therefore, I recently chatted with FarSight Studios User Community Manager Rob Mann to inquire about The Pinball Arcade’s present, and what we can look forward to in the future. (more…)

New Releases: Halo 4, LittleBigPlanet Karting, NASCAR Inside Line, More

You finished the fight, but now he’s back! The Master Chief returns to the Xbox 360 this week in Halo 4, the first game in the series not developed by Bungie (it was actually created at Microsoft’s 343 Industries).
So who will stand against the mighty Master Chief? Believe it or not, a pair of racing games. Sony is bringing LittleBigPlanet Karting to the PS3 this week and Activision will release the multiplatform NASCAR: Inside Line (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360).
Also available this week is a quartet of compilations: Namco Bandai’s Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection (PS3, Xbox 360), the Rockstar Games Collection: Edition 1 (PS3, Xbox 360), BioWare’s Mass Effect Trilogy (PC, Xbox 360), and THQ’s Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package (PS3, Xbox 360).

New Releases: Assassin’s Creed III, Need For Speed Most Wanted, WWE 13, More

The Fall gaming rush is definitely in full swing now as nearly 50 new games will make their way onto store shelves next week. Here are the highlights:
- Ubisoft’s time travelling trilogy comes to a close with Assassin’s Creed III (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and its Vita-exclusive side story, Assassins Creed III: Liberation.
- Criterion recreates the classic Need For Speed game Need For Speed: Most Wanted (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Vita).
- Your yearly dose of video wrasslin’ returns to the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 thanks to THQ’s WWE ’13.
- Fly you fools… And be sure to check out Lego Lord of the Rings (3DS, DS, PS3, Vita, Wii, Xbox 360).
- The Underrated Zone of the Enders series has been remade for HD consoles and repackaged as Zone of the Enders HD Collection (PS3, Xbox 360).
- Finally, Level-5’s Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask makes it way to the 3DS today. So that’s cool.

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault to be released on November 27
Are you still putting the Ratchet & Clank HD Collection through its paces? If so, you might be interested to know that Sony has given Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault a November 27 release date. The game has also been given a very friendly $19.99 price tag, which applies to both the PlayStation Network version and the retail version.
Yes, retail version. Insomniac’s James Stevenson has confirmed that Full Frontal Assault is quite a bit larger than the last “fun-size” Ratchet & Clank title, Quest For Booty:
As you know, Full Frontal Assault is a “fun-size” project that’s similar in scope to Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty. But Full Frontal is actually bigger than Booty (sorry, couldn’t resist), as we’ve added tons of new features, including the new base assault and defense elements. An even bigger addition to Full Frontal Assault is the replay value we packed in with online / split-screen co-op, and online competitive modes.
And in case you forgot, Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will be one of the first titles to take part in the PS3/Vita Cross Buy program. So if you purchase the PS3 version, you’ll receive the Vita version for free.

Medal of Honor Warfighter, Killzone HD, Unfinished Swan, more added to PS Store
Another strong week of PlayStation Store additions is upon us.
This week, the PS3 Full Games section is now home to EA’s Medal of Honor: Warfighter and 2K’s The Darkness II.
On the PSN side of things, there’s the artistic surrealism of The Unfinished Swan and the gray and brown post-apocalypticism of Killzone HD.
Vita gamers will get a chance to try out several new games this week, but Street Fighter X Tekken leads the pack.
And finally, the PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale beta is now open for all. It’ll be accessible for PS3 and Vita players until Tuesday, October 30 at midnight (Pacific Time).
As always, more information on all of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. The PlayStation Blog also has a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons, demos, and videos. (more…)

Drake, Cole, Sackboy battle Kratos in PlayStation All-Stars live action trailer
Today, Sony officially released a full-length live action trailer for PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale. Taking a cue from their critically-acclaimed “Michael” commercial, the ad features Sony mascots Kratos, Sackboy, Cole McGrath, and Nathan Drake duking it out in a dark alley. You got to hand it to the folks at Sony’s marketing department; they definitely know their stuff. Enjoy the show.
PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale hits shelves on November 20th.
