Surprise! Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Let It Die, Lara Croft Go, more added to PS Store
While the majority of Sony’s PlayStation Experience Showcase presentation focused on the future, the consolemaker also highlighted a handful of games that are now available to download through the PlayStation Store right now.
Leading the way (and tying in rather nicely with the Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite announcement) is the PS4 debut of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. This port of the one-on-one fighting game includes all the previously-released downloadable content as a visual upgrade promising full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second.
Keeping with the fighting theme, SNK brought back another of their classic fighters this weekend, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, on the PS4 and Vita as a Cross-Buy title.
However, if you prefer your punching and kicking with a bit more of a beat ’em up flair, then you might be interested in Le Cartel’s Mother Russia Bleeds. Featuring a violent and surrealist take on the genre, Mother Russia Bleeds exists “somewhere between the classic style of Streets of Rage and the ultra-violence of Hotline Miami,” according to its developer.
Ultraviolence also sits at the center of Let It Die, a free-to-play multiplayer hack and slash for the PS4 from Goichi “Suda51” Suda. Players will need to be smart as they take on their opponents, which is also an important facet of Lara Croft Go, a strategic Tomb Raider experience from Square Enix. It’s now available to download for the PS4 and Vita.
Finally this weekend, PlayStation VR owners will get the chance to get their hands bloody with Bossa Studios’ Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

Game Awards 2016 Trailer: Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment
During tonight’s Game Awards ceremony, Yacht Club games presented the next DLC update to their wildly popular game, Shovel Knight. The add-on, titled Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, tells an entirely new story as seen through the eyes of Specter Knight, the first member of The Order of No Quarter. If the Plague of Shadows chapter is any indication, this expansion will breathe new life into the already-addicting retro title.
In a Kickstarter update, Yacht Club promised that players will find “new areas, new music, new enemies, new objects, new boss fights, new weapons, new armors, and way, way more than ever before” in Specter of Torment. They also revealed that the add-on will serve as a prequel to Shovel Knight’s main storyline.
No release date was given, but we should expect to see the update sometime in Spring 2017.

Shakedown Hawaii will be playable at PS Experience 2016… and here’s a new trailer
Vblank Entertainment initially debuted Shakedown Hawaii, their 16-bit sequel to Retro City Rampage, ahead of last year’s PlayStation Experience. Earlier this week, the developer revealed that the open world game, which will also be available for the PC (via Steam) and at least one Nintendo platform, will make a return engagement at this year’s PlayStation Experience.
In addition to confirming that attendees of Sony’s annual showcase will get to try out Shakedown Hawaii this weekend, Vblank also announced a 2017 release date for the game and unveiled a brand new trailer, which is embedded above.

First Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment trailer will premiere tonight during The Game Awards

Host Geoff Keighley has promised plenty of surprises for this year’s Game Awards, but another eager developer has spilled the beans on a World Premiere trailer we’ll get a peak at tonight. In a short tweet, Yacht Club Games confirmed they’ll debut a new trailer for their next project during the show:
Want to see the latest on what we've been making here at Yacht Club Games?
Watch @thegameawards
12/1 at 5:30pm PT and reap what we show!— Yacht Club Games (@YachtClubGames) November 30, 2016
While it’s possible that Yacht Club will unveil something brand new, the pun-loving developers are most likely referring to Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment with that “reap what we show” line. Specter of Torment will be the second (of three) planned expansions for Shovel Knight, and it’s currently on track for a Spring 2017 launch on the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One.
The 2016 Game Awards will be held tonight at 8:30 PM (Eastern Time), and you can watch the show at TheGameAwards.com.

Final Fantasy XV, Steep, SteinsGate 0, more added to PS Store

PlayStation 4 owners will get a chance to play a game that has been in the works for more than a decade next week… but believe it or not, they’ll get the chance to do that this week as well. First announced in 2006, Square Enix released their epic action RPG, Final Fantasy XV, on the PS4 this week. Players will take control of Noctis and his friends as they embark on a quest to reclaim their homeland from an invading army.
Also available this week is Ubisoft’s snow-covered extreme sports sim, Steep. Players will be able to ski, snowboard, paraglide, or wingsuit down the Alps in a PS4 game that’ll be available this Friday.
Finally this week, PQube will continue the SteinsGate saga with SteinsGate 0 for the PS4 and Vita. The first game in the series is one of the most popular “visual novels” of all time, and the time-bending prequel takes players back to how it all began.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. And a full rundown of this week’s new add-ons and discounts will soon be available at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Cyber Monday Game Deals 2016: Amazon

How did your wallet hold up on Black Friday? Did you pick up any of this year’s deals… or were you holding out to see what sales were in store for Cyber Monday? Well, good news, Amazon‘s Cyber Monday deal-stravaganza is in full and it looks to be an almost shot-for-shot repeat of Black Friday.
Many of the same deals are available today including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Legacy Edition ($59.00), Dishonored 2 ($34.99), and Overwatch ($34.99).
As with Black Friday, many of Amazon’s discounts will go in and out of stock throughout the day, but we’ve got a list of many of the currently-available deals after the break. (more…)
New Retail Releases: Final Fantasy XV, Super Mario Maker For 3DS, Steep, More

After ten years of hard work (and a name change and a platform shift), Square Enix is finally ready to unleash Final Fantasy XV on the world. Set to launch this week for the PS4 and Xbox One, the game follows Noctis and his friends in a world of magic and technology that’s on the brink of war. It’s a pretty standard setting for the Final Fantasy franchise, but its epic development period certainly adds an extra layer of intrigue to things.
A number of other games will be available on store shelves this week, but none of them have the same level of hype.
Of course, that’s probably exactly how Nintendo would like fans to look at Super Mario Maker For Nintendo 3DS. The level editor is slightly shrunk down from its Wii U debut (levels can no longer be uploaded online, for example), but players will still be able share levels locally, and the brand new Medal Challenge looks interesting.
Ubisoft has a trio of new games available in stores this including the extreme sports simulation Steep (which includes skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuiting) for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Open world hackathon Watch Dogs 2 will make its PC debut this week, and The Crew: Ultimate Edition will collect the original game and all of its downloadable content into a single package on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Finally this week, PQube will release the time-bending visual novel SteinsGate 0 for the PS4 and Vita.
The full list of this week’s new retail releases can be found after the break. (more…)
