TitanFall, Destiny, Watch Dogs lead all nominees in Best of E3 2013 awards
The 30 publications that form the Game Critics Awards judging panel have announced this year’s nominees for the Best of E3 2013. This year, Respawn’s TitanFall lead the way with six nominations. Bungie’s Destiny and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs were close behind with five nominations apiece.
All three games were selected to be part of the “Best in Show” alongside new hardware from Sony (the PlayStation 4) and Oculus VR (the Oculus Rift HD). That has to sting for Microsoft and the continued debacle that is their Xbox One announcement. Though the Xbox One did get a nod in the “Best Hardware” category. I have a feeling it’s not going to win.
A complete list of all the nominees can be found after the break. The winners will be announced on July 2. (more…)
Star Wars Pinball will be added to Wii U eShop on July 11
The Force will be with owners of Nintendo’s Wii U on July 11 when Star Wars Pinball is added to the eShop.
Priced at $9.99, the Zen Studios-produced pinball compilation will include three tables set in the iconic Star Wars universe: “Star Wars Episode V : The Empire Strikes Back,” “Boba Fett,” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” The Wii U version will include two GamePad options: Off-TV play or a game information screen that includes “dot matrix, scores, and challenge information.”
Star Wars Pinball was originally released for the PC, PSN, and XBLA in February.

New Releases: Ouya, Deadpool, Company of Heroes 2, More

Finally, some variety in the new release schedule!
In fact, there’s so much variety available this week that we’re getting a new console: the Android-powered, Kickster-funded Ouya Console. If you’d prefer to stick with games on platforms you already own, this week also sees the release of the first game starring the “Merc With the Mouth,” Deadpool (PC, PS3, Xbox 360).
A trio of niche titles round out this week’s major new releases including the Sega-published PC strategy game Company of Heroes 2 (it used to be part of THQ’s stable), minigame collection Game & Wario (Wii U), and the insane crossover Project X Zone (3DS).
More new release can be found after the break. (more…)

Here’s an Injustice: Gods Among Us gameplay trailer starring General Zod
Kneel before… you know what, you don’t need to kneel, just watch the first gameplay trailer of General Zod in Injustice: Gods Among Us. The Kryptonian criminal will be available to download from the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store on July 2 for $5 (400 Microsoft Points).
Also available next month is a new Superman skin based on Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the Man of Steel in… well, Man of Steel. The skin will also be downloadable from the XBLM and the PS Store and it’ll set you back $1 (or 80 Microsoft Points).
There’s still no word on if NetherRealm Studios plans to release the Superman skin based on The Flaming C to the public. Here it is on Conan in case you missed it the first time around.

Miyamoto has “no good ideas” for a new F-Zero game

Nintendo trotted out new entries in a ton of your favorite franchises at this year’s E3 Expo. But one oft-neglected series didn’t make an appearance at the big show and likely won’t for a long time: F-Zero. Speaking to IGN, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the company currently has no idea where to take the series:
“I certainly understand that people want a new F-Zero game,” Miyamoto said. “I think where I struggle is that I don’t really have a good idea for what’s new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. Certainly I can see how people looking at Mario Kart 8 could see, through the anti-gravity, a connection to F-Zero. But I don’t know, at this point, what direction we could go in with a new F-Zero.”
F-Zero GX, released for the GameCube in 2003, was the last F-Zero game released for a Nintendo console. A Game Boy Advance game, F-Zero: GP Legend, was released in 2004.

New Super Luigi U will be available to download from the Nintendo eShop tomorrow and if you’re still unsure that a DLC expansion starring Mario’s athletically-inclined brother is for you, Nintendo UK has posted a handy “Spot the Differences” guide for your education.
New Super Luigi U will include over 80 redesigned courses and if you’re still unsure about downloading the DLC, a special “Year of Luigi” retail release of the game is scheduled for August 25.

Call of Duty: Ghosts might miss the Wii U after all, but that seems unlikely
Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin talked about the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Ghosts with such conviction during E3 2013 that everybody assumed it was in development. Apparently, that’s not entirely accurate.
Last week, he told GameSpot: “[The Wii U version] is probably in the next-gen bin. We’re not actually talking about Wii U yet because we want to keep it mysterious.”
Now, speaking to GamesIndustry International, Rubin has revealed that he doesn’t know if a Wii U version of the game is even in development: “Ha! You know that’s funny, because I don’t even know the answer to that. I swear to God, I don’t. I was trying to say in the interview [that] I really don’t know and I’m not supposed to talk about it. I’m not supposed to talk about the fact that I don’t know.”
When you think about it, it’s astounding that these very different statements came from the same person. Regardless of what Rubin told GamesIndustry International, a Wii U version of the game can only be “mysterious” if it’s actually in development. Otherwise, why get people’s hopes up? So officially, Activision and Infinity Ward have nothing to announce concerning Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U. Unofficially (and logically), a Wii U version of the game is clearly in development. Glad we could clear that up.
