MKX: Predator will be available on July 7 for Kombat Pass players, July 14 for everyone else
After previously teasing The Predator’s Mortal Kombat X debut for this month, NetherRealm Studios is finally ready to announce when players will get a chance to play as the intergalactic hunter.
If you own the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pass, The Predator will be available to download on Tuesday, July 7. In addition to the new character, Kombat Pass owners will also gain access to the Predator/Prey Pack, which includes new costumes for Jax (Carl Weathers as Dillon), Johnny Cage (Commando), and Scorpion (Infrared).
Mortal Kombat X players who wish to purchase The Predator or the Predator/Prey Pack on their own will have to wait until July 14. The Predator will be priced at $4.99, while the Predator/Prey Pack will be priced at $3.99. Both DLC items will be available together in a bundle for $7.99.
One more additional character for Mortal Kombat X remains and it’s likely Tremor will be released sometime this August.
Indiana Jones, Darkwing Duck, and others could be added to Disney Infinity in the future

Disney Infinity was released to fairly universal acclaim in 2013, but gamers everywhere hoped the Mouse House would add Marvel characters to the mix in a sequel. Disney listened to their requests, and released Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes a year later. This same cycle of fan feedback eventually led Disney Interactive to begin production on Disney Infinity: Star Wars, which will be released sometime in the Fall.
But what other characters from the Disney Vault will eventually make their way into a future Disney Infinity game? How about… all of them?
Disney Interactive’s John Blackburn and John Vignocchi recently spoke to Polygon about the franchise, revealing that every character from Disney’s vast empire has the chance to be added to a future Disney Infinity project. They couldn’t make any promises on which characters might make a future appearance, but Lucasfilm’s Ada Duan said that Howard the Duck has been asked for by a lot of fans. Other characters name-dropped by the trio include Indiana Jones, Darkwing Duck, and LucasArts’s stable of adventure games (especially Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle).
Though it might be a while before any of these characters make it into Disney Infinity, as Duan said the company is “looking forward” towards new content. That’s disappointing, but the full interview at Polygon is still a riot, so be sure to read the whole thing.

Star Wars: Battlefront, Fallout 4 lead the way in Game Critics Awards Best of E3 2015 nominees
The Force is strong with DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront as the game collected five nominations, more than any other title, from the Game Critics Awards in their annual Best of E3 competition. The Star Wars shooter is up for “Best of Show,” “Best Console Game,” “Best PC Game,” “Best Action Game,” and “Best Online Multiplayer.”
Bethesda’s Fallout 4 and Guerrilla’s Horizon: Zero Dawn can also be considered contenders after collecting four nominations apiece. Both games will battle each other (and Battlefront) for “Best of Show” and “Best Console Game,” but their path will split for the remaining nominations. Fallout 4 is up for “Best PC Game” and “Best RPG,” while Horizon: Zero Dawn was nominated for “Best Original Game” and “Best Action/Adventure Game.”
Two other nominees will compete for this year’s “Best of Show” award including Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the Oculus Touch motion controller.
The group behind the Game Critics Awards is comprised of representatives from 38 media publications, and they plan to announce this year’s winners on July 7. The full list of nominees can be found after the break. (more…)

New Releases: J-Stars Victory Vs+, BlazBlue Chronophantasma, GTA San Andreas, More
Remember a year ago when Rockstar inexplicably added an Xbox 360 edition of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to the Xbox Games Store to celebrate its tenth anniversary? Now the publisher has decided to inexplicably publish a retail disc version… and it’s coming out this week! It’s been a slow Summer season, so sure, why not?
Also available this week are a trio of Japanese imports…
- J-Stars Victory Vs+ (PS3, PS4), a crossover fighting game that features characters from Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece, and more.
- BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend (PS3, PS4, Xbox One), the latest update to the popular fighting game (and first on current-generation consoles) from Arc System Works.
- HyperDimension Neptunia ReBirth 3: V Generation (Vita), a handheld port of Idea Factory’s third JRPG parody of the video game industry.
If none of these games interests you, remember that the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop will receive a few new titles this week as well.

The Predator goes hunting against Mortal Kombat X’s kombatants this July

NetherRealm’s Creative Director, Ed Boon, has made Mortal Kombat fans very happy by confirming konfirming that The Predator will be available as a playable character sometime in July:

NetherRealm is producing Mortal Kombat X’s add-on content at a pretty quick clip as the Predator is the third playable character to be added to the game since its April 14 release. Jason Voorhees teleported into the game shortly after launch, while Tanya made her playable debut a few weeks ago. Tremor, the final playable character and one of the few good things to come out of Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, will likely be released sometime in August.
Unlike the famous film series, this Predator won’t be hunting alone. He’ll be released alongside the Predator/Prey Pack, which will include new character skins for Johnny Cage (Commando), Scorpion (Infrared), and Jax (Carl Weathers as Dillon).
Remember, if it bleeds, we can kill it.
Treyarch will unveil Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Mode at Comic-Con in July

A not-so-cryptic tweet from Treyarch has confirmed that we’ll get our first at the Zombies Mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops III at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place July 9 through July 12:

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 6. Activision revealed a ton of Black Ops III intel during last week’s E3 Expo, including a pair of trailers and the news that PS3/PS4 gamers will receive access to the game’s downloadable expansions a month earlier than everyone else.

Jason Derulo, Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga, and more will dance all night in Just Dance 2016
I’ve lost count of the exact number of titles in Ubisoft’s Just Dance series, but like clockwork, the publisher announced another one at this year’s E3 Expo. Just Dance 2016 will include more than 40 new songs when it launches on October 20, 13 of which were announced during the show:
- The Black Eyed Peas – “I Gotta Feeling”
- Buraka Som Sistema – “Hangover (BaBaBa)”
- Calvin Harris (Featuring John Newman) – “Blame”
- David Guetta (Featuring Nicki Minaj, Afrojack, and Bebe Rexha) – “Hey Mama”
- Equinox Stars – “Let’s Groove”
- Hatsune Miku – “Ievan Polkka”
- Jason Derulo – “Want to Want Me”
- Lady Gaga – “Born This Way”
- Mark Ronson (Featuring Bruno Mars) – “Uptown Funk”
- Martin Garrix – “Animals”
- MAX – “Gibberish”
- Meghan Trainor – “All About That Bass”
- Rossini – “William Tell – Overture”
For the first time, players will also be able to subscribe to Just Dance Unlimited, a service that will provide access to the “best tracks” from previous Just Dance games, as well as a variety of exclusive songs. Just Dance Unlimited will launch with more than 150 songs and more will be added to the service throughout the year. The subscription service will be available only on the PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One, alongside three new game modes:
- Dance Party Mode: In the Dance Party mode, players can dance along with their friends and family in the classic rival mode or dance together to get the highest collective score as a group in the first ever co-op mode.
- Dance Quests Mode: Players can unlock dance quests for a chance to “beat the game” for the first time ever. In each quest, players will play a series of three songs for a chance to advance to the next set of dance quest challenges.
- World Video Challenge: The all-new World Video Challenge allows players to send videos of their performances to challenge friends from all around the world and dance to their scores as if they were in the same room!
Just Dance 2016 is also keeping the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 alive as the game will be released for those platforms in addition to the PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One this October.
PS4/PS3 will get CoD Black Ops III DLC first as Activision reveals multiplayer trailers
This year’s E3 Expo was the epicenter of a cataclysmic event that has shaken the very core of the video game industry… downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops III will not appear first on Xbox platforms. Instead, Sony and its PlayStation platforms will be the temporarily exclusive home to all Black Ops III DLC. Come this November, Xbox gamers will be the ones who have to wait an extra month to get their quarterly fix of new content in a Call of Duty game.
But that wasn’t the only major announcement Activision had up their sleeve. They also revealed the first trailer for the game’s competitive multiplayer mode, which will now feature nine unique “Specialists”:
Choose to play as one of nine new Specialists, each with their own look, personality, abilities, and level progression system. Finally, equip up to five attachments and an optic while customizing nearly every aspect of your loadout with the new Gunsmith, then tap the power of the Weapon Paintshop to give your weapon a signature look.
However, if you prefer your multiplayer games to be cooperative ones, there’s more to see. Activision and Sony teamed up to release a nearly six-minute look at Black Ops III’s Cooperative Campaign. Not only that, but Treyarch’s Mark Lamia dropped by Sony’s Live Coverage studio to talk even more about the game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 6. And if you pre-order the game on the PC, PS4, or Xbox One, Activision will grant you access to Black Ops III’s multiplayer beta, which will begin in August. (more…)
