Deep Silver wants you to Escape Dead Island on November 18

Deep Silver has announced that their Dead Island spinoff, Escape Dead Island, will be released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 18. The game, which was partially inspired by Eternal Darkness, will question your sanity as you attempt to escape from an island paradise overrun by zombies. To really showcase Escape Dead Island’s mind-altering setpieces, Deep Silver has released a new trailer that has been embedded above.

The publisher will also give gamers a chance to demo the game for themselves this weekend at the PAX Prime convention in Seattle.

deepsilver-header

Deep Silver has more than one surprise planned for this weekend’s PAX Prime convention. Besides the previously announced unveiling of Volition’s next project, the publisher will offer the following playable demos at its booth in the South Hall:

  • Dead Island 2: Experience the first hands-on in the United States for the upcoming AAA zombie blockbuster from Yager Development.
  • Escape Dead Island: The world’s first consumer hands-on for the third person survival mystery spin-off, set in the Dead Island universe.
  • Metro Redux: Play Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light together with all DLC now on new-gen consoles running at a seamless 60 frames per second.

Deep Silver also plans to showcase at least one secret title at their booth. So it seems likely that if you miss the Volition panel on Friday morning you’ll still get a chance to get a good look at their next game. And who knows, perhaps Deep Silver has a few other surprises up their sleeve…

Platinum will release their Legend of Korra game in October

In an interview with IGN, Activision’s Robert Conkey has confirmed that the Platinum-developed game based on Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra will be available to download in October.

The Legend of Korra will be available for the PC (via Steam) and the PlayStation Network (for the PS3 and PS4) on October 21. Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will have to wait an extra day as it will be released through the Xbox Live Marketplace on October 22.

The announcement was part of a series of Korra-related interviews published by IGN yesterday. So if you love the show, you might want to check them out. As a bonus, you’ll find out that David Faustino (the former Bud Bundy and the current voice of Mako) has been slowly morphing into an American-accented Jean Claude Van Damme over the past few years.

New Releases: Madden NFL 15, Metro Redux, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, More

newreleases082614

The month of August is coming to a close and its taking the Summer gaming drought with it.

As they do every year, EA Sports wants to ask: “Are you ready for some football?” If you are, then you’re probably already aware that Madden NFL 15 will be available this week. Just like last year, the game will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. And if you haven’t made your next-generation console choice yet, there’s going to be a Madden NFL 15 Xbox One Bundle available as well.

A different kind of battle will take place on the 3DS this week with the release of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. These two titans of the handheld puzzle game genre will go head-to-head to prove once and for all that… actually, nevermind. Neither character challenges the other and, in fact, they team up in Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney to solve a crime. So I’m not sure where the “vs” in the title comes from.

Finally this week, a trio of games will receive spiffy re-releases on a new platform. NIS America resurrects the first game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series on the Vita as Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 1. And Deep Silver is bringing back Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light in a next-generation package known as Metro Redux on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Disney Infinity 2.0 gets Marvel-less Toy Box Starter Pack

disneyinfinity20toyboxDisney Interactive’s big Marvel push begins next month with the release of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. The Starter Pack will include three Marvel figures (Iron Man, Thor, and Black Widow) as well as the promise of many more in the future. But what if you don’t like Marvel characters and are just looking to explore the expanded Toy Box mode found in the game that is also known as Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition? Well, you’re in luck, Disney also plans to release a special Toy Box Starter Pack on November 4.

Set to be available for the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, the Toy Box Starter Pack will come complete with two Toy Box Game Discs, a 2.0 Edition Base, two figures (Brave’s Merida and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch), and the same Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes game disc as the regular Starter Pack. Looks like you can’t completely get away from the Marvel content.

“Disney Infinity fans spend the majority of their time inside the Toy Box mode, and with our new Toy Box Starter Pack, we’re giving Disney fans an alternative entry point to the Disney Infinity sequel,” said John Blackburn, Vice President and General Manager of Avalanche Software. “We’ve completely re-tooled the Toy Box for this year’s version of Disney Infinity, and we want every Disney fan to experience it using their favorite Disney or Marvel characters.”

The Toy Box Starter Pack will be priced at $59.99, which is slightly cheaper than the $74.99 price tag that has been attached to the Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack.
