WWE 2K14 Review: Yes! Yes! Yes!

I always find it incredibly difficult to write a review for a yearly sports franchise. To innovate and change something that has a real-life counterpart is incredibly hard because, well, the sport just doesn’t change in time for every autumn. Not only do I feel like I’m repeating myself, but it also must be really hard for the developers. Anyway, stop me if you’ve heard this one before… WWE 2K14 is a fantastic pro-wrestling title, probably the best in the Yuke’s-produced series. However, it is held back with bad AI and physics, as well as rough commentary. Yet, it does have the best story mode in a WWE game to date. (more…)
Evolve takes home Best of Gamescom 2014 Award

Evolve continues to add to its list of pre-release accolades as it took home five 2014 Gamescom Awards including the coveted “Best of Gamescom Award.” Turtle Rock’s 4v1 shooter also earned the awards for “Best PC Game,” “Best Console Game (Sony PlayStation),” “Best Console Game (Microsoft Xbox),” and “Best Online Multiplayer Game.”
Super Smash Bros. 4 and LittleBigPlanet 3 were the only other games to win multiple awards. The 3DS version of Nintendo’s fighter was selected by the judges as “Best Mobile Game” while both versions were picked by attendees as “Most Wanted.” Meanwhile, LittleBigPlanet 3 was awarded “Best Social / Casual / Online Game” and “Best Family Game.”
The full list of winners can be found after the break. (more…)
From Parts Unknown… here is the WWE 2K15 roster
SummerSlam is just a few hours away, but yesterday was an equally important day for the WWE. On Saturday, the WWE and 2K Games revealed the roster for this October’s WWE 2K15.
The roster features a lot of familiar names including The Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H, Kane, and Shawn Michaels. But the roster also includes several unexpected names such as CM Punk, who “retired” from the WWE earlier this year. Is his inclusion a spoiler for a future WWE storyline, or does the company just want to squeeze one last appearance out of one of its biggest stars?
WWE 2K15 will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 18. You can find the full roster (which the WWE and 2K both stress as “not final,” so it’s subject to change) after the break. (more…)
New Releases: Tales of Xillia 2, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare

The Summer is winding down, but that’s a good thing for the New Releases calendar as three highly anticipated titles will make their way to store shelves this week.
The latest entry in Bandai Namco’s Tales series of action RPGs, Tales of Xillia 2, will finally make its North American PS3 debut. The game was originally released in Japan in 2012, but it’s better late than never. The next game in the franchise, Tales of Zestiria, will launch simultaneously in Japan and the rest of the world.
Also available this week is Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, the console-exclusive collection bundles together Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion into a single package. It’ll be available for the PS4 and Xbox One as well as the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Finally, Electronic Arts will bring Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare to PlayStation platforms. After its Xbox debut in the Spring, the game will now be available for the PS3 and PS4 too.

The Last of Us returns to the top of the best-seller list in July 2014 NPD report

In previous years, the best-sellers chart for the month of July would normally be dominated by the latest entry in the NCAA Football series. But EA Sports canceled the series last Fall, so a new emperor is sitting upon the July Throne in 2014. Or rather, an emperor we’ve seen before in a spiffy new set of clothes.
This is a roundabout way of saying that the Remastered re-release of Sony’s The Last of Us (combined with more sales on the PS3) pushed the game to the top of the best-sellers chart. July was a pretty sparse month as far as new releases go, but 505’s Sniper Elite III also cracked the top ten. It was number eight… with a bullet.
You can check out July’s complete top ten list (which includes May releases Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8 hanging tough in the top five) after the break. (more…)

Disney Infinity 2.0 adds Donald Duck to the bill
Following up on their Aladdin and Jasmine trailer, Disney Interactive announced yet another character to add to the already impressive Toy Box roster for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes: Donald Duck. Donald will be available for purchase this fall, presumably shortly after the game releases.
Now we just need Panchito Pistoles and Jose Carioca and we can get a real Three Caballaros game going. September 23rd can’t come soon enough.
