Xbox Store Today: Voodoo Vince Remastered, Guardians of the Galaxy, Flinthook, more
Microsoft is taking us back to the early days of the original Xbox with today’s Xbox Games Store update.
Vince, the “plucky Voodoo doll” that starred in 2003’s Voodoo Vince, is back at it in Voodoo Vince Remastered. The Louisiana-set platformer has received a high definition makeover for its Xbox One debut, and as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, fans will also receive access to the game on Windows 10 with a single purchase.
Xbox One owners with a nostalgic streak actually have a lot to choose from in today’s Xbox Games Store update. Telltale will spin some classic tunes in Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 1 – Tangled Up In Blue… Tribute Games will launch a side-scrolling platformer starring an adorable space pirate in Flinthook… and Capcom will bring back six classic NES-era Disney games in The Disney Afternoon Collection.
You can learn more about all of these games (and the rest of this week’s new releases) after the break. (more…)

Ubisoft’s new Berlin studio begins work on “unannounced AAA project”
Ubisoft is expanding once again.
The megapublisher has announced plans to open a new studio in Berlin, which will join the well-established Ubisoft Blue Byte in the German capital. Ubisoft Blue Byte is best known as the creator of the Anno series of strategy games, and they will work alongside the newly-created Ubisoft Berlin on an “unannounced AAA project.”
Ubisoft didn’t reveal any more information about this “unannounced AAA project,” but they did mention a few more details about the plan for Ubisoft Berlin on the UbiBlog:
Ubisoft Berlin
Germany is home to Blue Byte, one of the most established names in German gaming and an industry leader in PC strategy games. The team in Berlin will work closely with the BlueByte teams in both Düsseldorf and Mainz on an unannounced AAA project, and will help Ubisoft establish a presence in the German capital. The studio is looking for newcomers and industry veterans alike, as they plan to grow to around 50 people within their first 12 months. Keep up with the latest news from the BlueByte team and check job openings locally at http://jobs.ubisoft.com.
Ubisoft also announced that they’re opening a satellite studio in Bordeaux, France. Ubisoft Bordeaux will collaborate with other Ubisoft studios on franchises like Just Dance, Steep, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days will be available on Steam on May 18
Big Star Games has announced that their prequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days, will be available to download through Steam on May 18.
Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days is an overhead strategic shooter, and while Mr. White, Mr. Pink, Mr. Brown, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Orange, and Mr. Blue may not resemble their cinematic counterparts, the game will reveal what happened to the characters before the iconic film. Players will need to use the game’s “Time-Rewind” mechanic to erase their mistakes and plan out the perfect heist (and hopefully escape unscathed). You can get a taste of how all this works in the brand new “Cinematic Trailer” embedded above.
Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days is also in development for the Xbox One and will be released for Microsoft’s console sometime this year.
Get hooked on a launch trailer for Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 1
Telltale Games will head back out to the furthest reaches of space this week with “Tangled Up In Blue,” the first episode from their Guardians of the Galaxy series. The developer also released a brand new Launch Trailer to go along with today’s launch on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices:
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest Super Heroes: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of them has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.
From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience.
In addition to this week’s digital debut, Telltale will also release a special Season Pass Disc for Guardians of the Galaxy on May 2. The Season Pass Disc will include “Tangled Up In Blue” and downloadable access to the subsequent four episodes as they’re released.
Flinthook Review: Retro Platforming and a Space Pirate With a Grappling Hook… What More Do You Need?

Have you ever wanted a game that was roguelite and also had RPG elements? What about a game where you’re a pirate with an anchor you use as a grappling hook? And did you also want it to have gorgeous retro art, a hyper-catchy and upbeat soundtrack, and maybe a little slime guy for a compass that you feed coins to?
Is this too specific a dream? Is this exactly the game you wanted? Because if it is, I have really amazing news for you… Flinthook is here, and it’s going to make all of your dreams come true. (more…)
Poison Ivy delivers the kiss of death in her Injustice 2 trailer
In a fun little nod to Batman & Robin, NetherRealm Studios pitted Poison Ivy against Bane and Robin in the newest Injustice 2 trailer.
Dr. Pamela Isley’s affinity for plants has always given her skin a healthy green glow, but the supervillain actually has a pair of extra appendages in the upcoming fighting game. The two venus fly traps that frame her face probably aren’t an angel and devil on her shoulders, but they can be used as a makeshift or to fling a noxious gas cloud at her opponent.
Injustice 2 will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16. And in case you missed any of the previous “Introducing…” trailers, now’s a great to look back at Scarecrow, The Flash, Captain Cold, Catwoman, Cheetah, Firestorm, Doctor Fate, and all the rest.

All PC and Xbox One owners will get the chance to purchase Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on April 20
Microsoft and 343 Industries released Halo Wars 2 earlier this year, and players who pre-ordered it also received early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, a revamped version of the first game in the RTS series. But starting April 20, all PC and Xbox One owners will have the chance to purchase the remaster as a standalone download.
In addition to improved graphics, which are on display in the new trailer embedded above, 343 added additional Achievements to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, and bundled in both downloadable expansions (Strategic Options and Historic Battles).
Like Halo Wars 2, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, and players who purchase will receive access to the game on the Xbox One and Windows 10.
NHL 17 predicts the Nashville Predators will win their first Stanley Cup this year
The Nashville Predators joined the NHL as an expansion team in 1998… and if NHL 17‘s playoff simulation is correct, they’ll win their first Stanley Cup this year.
According to the prediction from EA Sports, the Predators will beat the Montreal Canadiens in seven games in the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals:
It all came down to one game. P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators against Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. It was a back-and-forth game that featured stellar saves and highlight reel goals until Viktor Arvidsson scored with 17:37 left in the third period to give the Predators a 3-2 lead. Ryan Johansen would tack on an empty net goal late in the third period securing the first Stanley Cup in Nashville Predators franchise history.
As of today, the real-life Predators have a 2-0 series lead over the Chicago Blackhawks in their first round matchup. Meanwhile, the Canadiens are leading the New York Rangers two games to one.
