Big Huge Games (now known as Impossible Studios) officially becomes part of Epic

After the closure of 38 Studios, the developers at Big Huge Games reached out to Epic Games in a last-ditch effort to save their team from suffering the same fate. Today, Epic has officially announced the creation of Impossible Studios, the new home for the team formerly known as Big Huge Games.

“We were so glad we could help keep this great team together, and we’re lucky to have them,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “At the time, I said that finding a full team of superstars was ‘impossible’ and apparently the name stuck! Pairing the imagination and experience of Impossible with Epic’s technology, IP and resources makes for a business greater than the sum of its parts.”

Impossible’s first task (hopefully, not an impossible one) will be Infinity Blade: Dungeons, a new entry in the popular action RPG series.

Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be released for the iOS later this year. But first, it’ll make it’s public debut at Dragon*Con in Atlanta on August 31 during a panel hosted by Lead Designer Ian Frazier and author Brandon Sanderson.

Hell yeah! Sega has announced a release date for Hell Yeah!

Publisher Sega and developer Arkedo have finally announced a released for their downloadable game starring starring the Prince of Hell in a quest for vengeance. Oh, did I mention that the Prince of Hell also happens to be an undead rabbit with a mean streak and a giant drill-cycle? Because he is and he does.

Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit‘s release schedule will roll through the end of next month on three different dates. The PlayStation Network version will be available on September 25. The Xbox Live Arcade version will be released a day later on September 26. And the PC download will arrive a week after that on October 3. All three versions have been priced at $14.99.

If an undead rabbit sounds too family friendly for your tastes, take a look at the “Pimp It Up” trailer above to disabuse yourself of that notion.

Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad Review: Creating Dust Storm Warnings

Jeremy McGrath is no stranger to video games, having starred in a series of motocross titles in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Over a decade later, his name has resurfaced with Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad. However, rather than taking place on two wheels, this game places you in rally cars, trophy trucks, and buggies – it’s more akin to Dirt than anything bearing McGrath’s name in the past. Developed by Rainbow Studios spinoff 2XL Games, this $10 downloadable title delivers a racing experience you don’t see much of these days – straight up off-road racing.

Code of Princess is coming to the 3DS in North America, thanks to Atlus. The beat-em-up RPG was developed by Agatsuma Entertainment and Bones, and has some very interesting characters. PC version of Sleeping Dogs has a few extra studs on its collar

According to that video, Sleeping Dogs is going to look awesome on PC. Not that it doesn’t look awesome on consoles. I guess you could say it’s going to look awesomer, if that’s a legitimate word. The PC version of the game will come with a high resolution texture pack, which is set to “amp up the world to new levels of realism, transforming Hong Kong into a completely immersive world,” according to Square Enix.

Absurdly rad graphics isn’t all you’re getting, though. Pre-ordering the game on Steam gets you eight new Sleeping Dogs items in the Team Fortress 2 Triad Pack. Heavies will have the ability to breathe fire, scouts will have a cleaver, spies will have more covert spy abilities, and the pyros will have a neon sign for head-conking. Add in tattoos, swag, new hats, and a King of the Hill map inspired by the very streets of Hong Kong, and you’ve got a weird marriage that I don’t understand at all.

Square Enix has also released the system requirements for Sleeping Dogs’ PC version, which can be found after the break. Sleeping Dogs will be out on August 14 for the PC, with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions also available.

Grid 2 skids into stores in 2013

Codemasters has announced Grid 2, sequel to 2008’s Race Driver: Grid. It’s now in full development after two years of pre-production, and will have an “expansive” career mode.

Clive Moody, Executive Producer, said, “Grid’s back and we’re going to make street, track and road racing exciting again. The core design philosophy for Grid 2 is that we treat the race as a character, not a consequence of simply putting cars on tracks. Everything that goes into the game impacts on that second-to-second, in the moment, blockbuster drama – the feel and personality of the race. We’re pushing boundaries once again with what can be accomplished in the genre via new tools, technology and innovations. In single-player, split-screen and online, the next-generation of the EGO Game Technology Platform will power graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements that will immerse players in the racing experience like never before. Like its predecessor, Grid 2 will put the sheer thrill and adrenaline rush of the race at the heart of the experience. It’s what we call Total Race Day Immersion.”

That’s a mouthful. Grid 2 will be out in the summer of 2013 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
