Nintendo dates new Professor Layton, Paper Mario, many more; delays Luigi’s Mansion 2

It’s beginning to look a lot like Fall as Nintendo has announced release dates for many of their biggest 3DS, 3DS eShop, and DS releases for the rest of the year.

Art Academy: Lessons For Everyone! and Crosswords Plus will lead things off on October 1. Style Savvy: Trendsetters launches later in the month on the 22nd and then Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask makes its North American debut on October 28.

The Big N also has a big November planned with Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! (November 5) and Paper Mario: Sticker Star (November 11).

Sadly, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon won’t make it into stores before the end of 2012. The ghostbustin’ sequel has been pushed back and given a new “first half of 2013” release window.

Mamma mia! Oh well, hit the jump for a massive list of release dates for many of this Fall’s Nintendo-published and third party 3DS, 3DS eShop, and DS games.

Wii U might be delayed in Europe… but GamePad covers confirmed

Some good news and some bad news about the impending launch of Nintendo’s Wii successor has leaked out. We’ll start with the good news first.

A listing on Amazon UK for a “Nintendo Licensed Controller Faceplate (Wii U)” confirms that the console’s controller will likely get a fancy cover. Given the amount of mobile phone and tablet customisable covers that exist, it makes sense that Nintendo would seek to exploit this trend and open up another cash revenue. Amazon has pegged it at £14.99 (just over $23), which matches prices for gel skins for tablets.

The bad news, if true, is a much more disappointing rumor, courtesy of CVG. They are reporting that due to the manufacturing of the Wii U GamePad, the European release date of the Wii U may be pushed into early December in order to make sure there is enough supply for the North American release before the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday. While it sounds like gloomy news for Europe, the Wii U is still expected this side of Christmas 2012, whereas only two months ago that date was rumoured to be slipping into 2013.

Jet Set Radio HD tagged with a September release date

Yesterday, Sega tagged every version of their high definition remake of Jet Set Radio with a release date and a very nice price. Ready? Here we go…

If you’re interested in purchasing the game from the PlayStation Network, it’ll be available to download on September 18. However, if you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you’ll receive early access to Jet Set Radio on September 11. Either way, the game will set you back $9.99.

PC and Xbox 360 owners will be able to download the game through Steam and the Xbox Live Arcade, respectively, on September 19. Once again, whichever version you choose will be priced at $9.99 (well, it’ll be listed as 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360).

Finally, the Vita version will be downloadable from the PSN on October 16, and it too will carry a 9.99 pricetag.

Not bad Sega, not bad. Now where’d I leave my roller blades?

Daily Scoop: August 10, 2012 – Quiet Friday

It’s a super quiet day today – no deals, not much news, and not really any sunshine. Well, that’s not true – it keeps alternating between beautiful sunny day and straight pouring rain here in Philadelphia. That’s our bi-polar weather for you!

I was planning on playing some games today, but a doctor’s appointment and chores have got me bogged down. And now it’s time to do homework. It never ends…

Hey, but at least there’s a cool shirt for sale!

NCAA Football 13 is the bestselling game of July 2012

The NPD Group has released their list of the ten bestselling games of July 2012 and, surprising no one, NCAA Football 13 took the top spot.

The football sim was the only new release from the month of July to crack the top ten, but to be fair, there weren’t very many games released last month. Instead, the top ten is populated by holdovers like Lego Batman 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, and two Call of Duty games (Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3). According to Joystiq, this motley crew could only manage sales of $260.7 million, a 23% drop from July 2011’s take of $338.5 million.

The full top ten is available after the break.
