Zombie Army Trilogy brings Zombie Hitler to PC, PS4, Xbox One in 2015

Zombie Hitler.

That’s everything you need to know about Rebellion’s upcoming Zombie Army Trilogy, a game that takes place during an alternate World War II where Zombie Hitler leads an army of Nazi Zombies. Zombie Army Trilogy began life in 2013 as a spinoff/standalone expansion to Rebellion’s popular Sniper Elite V2. A sequel became available eight months later with plans to conclude the series in a third game sometime last year. It looks like those plans got put on hold so Rebellion could also bring the game to the PS4 and Xbox One.

According to Rebellion, Zombie Army Trilogy will include 15 missions that are playable solo or cooperatively by up to four players. A set of five survival maps for Horde Mode and nine playable characters will round out the package. Oh, and did I mention that you get to cap it off with a battle against Zombie Hitler? Because you do.

Zombie Army Trilogy will “rise” in early 2015.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is coming to the 3DS

Puzzle & Dragons is a match-3 mobile game that is extremely popular in Japan and reasonably well-regarded in the rest of the world (though lagging behind big hitters like Angry Birds and Clash of Clans). If you’re not one of the game’s 41 million players, that may change when developer GungHo teams up with Nintendo to bring a Mario-themed version of the game to the 3DS as Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition.

The Super Mario Bros. Edition of Puzzle & Dragons will be released in Japan on April 29, but GungHo has confirmed that a North American release is also in the cards:

As the publisher, Nintendo will likely announce a North American release date for Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition soon.

Insert Quarter: Why Is the PS4 Selling So Well?

insertquarter-header

Insert Quarter is our showcase for some of the best and most interesting writing about video games on the Internet.

Sony recently announced that they’ve sold more 18.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles since the system debuted more than a year ago. It’s an astonishing number, and well ahead of the Wii U (almost eight million, per Nintendo) and Xbox One (around nine million is our guess). But exactly why is the PS4 selling so well? Paul Tassi of Forbes attempted to get to the bottom of it, but the answer may be, “Who knows?”:

The picture is clear, and it’s not even close. Fanboy camps aside, Sony is absolutely crushing its competition this console generation in terms of sales, and its strong start didn’t just last through the release window, as it’s now over a year since launch. The PS4 is approaching a quarter of the total sales of the PS3 in just the first year, dramatically outpacing the last-generation console’s launch. It hasn’t quite reached Wii levels of sales insanity, but that was a console sold to everyone from toddlers to grandparents, and the PS4 has no such “fad appeal” to non-gamers.

Broken Age: Act 2 will be available this Spring alongside retail version

brokenage-header

Double Fine Productions and Nordic Games have announced that they’re bringing both halves of Broken Age to retail stores this Spring. The retail version of the PC adventure will be released at the same time as the digital launch of Broken Age: Act 2. A PS4/Vita version of the game is also in the works, but its release date is still “To Be Announced.”

If you were wondering why Double Fine would release Broken Age as a retail game, would you believe its to protect their game from solar flares?

“I am very excited about the retail version of Broken Age,” said Double Fine President and CEO Tim Schafer, “And also relieved, as having a widely distributed, physical copy of the game will make it more safe from solar flares and EMP bombs and stuff like that. As long as people store their disks in fire proof safes. People do that, right?”

“Not really” replied COO Justin Bailey, “But people who purchase the physical copy can get to playing the exciting conclusion without having to wait for the game to download!”

The retail version will also add a German language option when its released this Spring.
