Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is bound for the Vita too
Sierra Games has confirmed that Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions will soon make its Vita debut in the near future. Geometry Wars 3 was developed by Lucid Games and serves as the sequel to the much-loved Geometry Wars 2: Retro Evolved. Released last month for consoles and the PC, Dimensions adds an Adventure Mode campaign, boss battles, companion drones, special weapons, and a variety of new gameplay modes to the Geometry Wars formula.
That’s all we know for now, but Sierra has promised that more information will be available soon.

20th Anniversary PS4 consoles going for $20,000+ on eBay
It might be an understatement to say that the launch of Sony’s 20th Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 console has been a bit of a mess. Only 12,300 consoles were produced and each region can set their own distribution rules for the system. In Spain, Sony will auction off their allotment of consoles with the proceeds going to charity. And according to Kotaku UK, 94 Anniversary Edition consoles were sold this weekend at a small “pop-up shop” for £19.94 each (about $31).
However, things worked a bit differently in America. A good portion of North America’s allotment were handed out to attendees of last weekend’s PlayStation Experience at random. That makes perfect sense. Sony should be rewarding their most fervent fans with a Limited Edition console. And a random lottery is the most fair system. However, the remaining stock were sold online with no warning through a website that couldn’t handle the load. There was no lottery and it was first come, first serve, and hope the server doesn’t crash. Naturally, this has lead to insane bidding wars over at eBay.
Over on the auction site, 20th Anniversary Edition PS4 consoles are selling for as much as $20,000. That’s the most ridiculous ending bid, but other bidders shelled out between $2,000 and $15,000 to own a piece of PlayStation history.
Actually, the most ridiculous thing might be that what each of these bidders are actually buying are email confirmations from Sony for a 20th Anniversary Edition “Pre-Order Receipt.” The actual consoles aren’t available for shipping just yet.

Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris, Suikoden II, Game of Thrones: Ep1 PS3, more added to PS Store
Some of the last major releases of 2014 are now available on the PlayStation Store, but a PSone-era re-release is stealing the spotlight away from them. Konami’s Suikoden II is one of the rarest games in the PSone’s entire library, with copies fetching more than $100 for resellers. But now the well-regarded RPG is available to anyone with a PS3 or Vita for $9.99. Maybe there’s something to be said for this digital future.
Also available this week is Square Enix’s isometric multiplayer puzzle platformer, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The PS4 game is a sequel to 2010’s Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. And after launching for the PS4 last week, Telltale has released their first Game of Thrones adaptation, Game of Thrones: Iron From Ice, on the PS3.
More information on all of these games (and a few others) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and temporary discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

MLB 15: The Show slides home on March 31 with Yasiel Puig on the cover
Sony’s MLB: The Show series is the only game in town when it comes to baseball simulations and the publisher has announced that MLB 15: The Show will be released for the PS3, PS4, and Vita on March 31, 2015. Yasiel Puig, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ eccentric outfielder, will serve as the game’s cover athlete.
According to the PlayStation Blog, MLB 15: The Show will have “enhanced visuals, new gameplay features, and an improved online experience” over previous editions of the game. And in a first for the franchise, MLB 15 will include licensed equipment just like the pros use.
You can check out the game’s debut trailer above, as well as a behind-the-scenes video with Puig after the break. (more…)

More God of War 4 details will be released in “a year or two”
After a surprise announcement during this weekend’s PlayStation Experience event, it’s probably safe to assume that we’ll have to wait quite a while for God of War 4‘s release date. But it looks like we’ll have to endure quite a long wait just to hear more about the game.
Speaking to IGN, Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog revealed that he expected to share more information about the game in “the next year or two.” He also confirmed that the game would not be a prequel like 2013’s God of War: Ascension.
However, one thing Barlog wouldn’t confirm was if Kratos would be the star of God of War 4. According to IGN, he was “unwilling to answer,” whatever that means.
Can you have a God of War game without Kratos? I’m not sure, but we might find out in a year or two.

Watch the music video for Paul McCartney’s Destiny song right here
Paul McCartney’s involvement was one of the first things we officially learned about Bungie’s Destiny. Since then, those that have played the game have discovered that the ex-Beatle is responsible for the game’s main theme, “Hope For the Future.”
Yesterday, Sir Paul released a music video of the song for everyone to enjoy and it’s… well… let’s just say Obi-Wan Kenobi would be proud.
The video drops McCartney onto the surface of Mars and Venus while characters from the game sit back and listen to his performance. There’s no lighters, but then, there’s no McCartney either. He appears in the video as a hologram that looks an awful lot like Alec Guinness in Star Wars.
The timing couldn’t have been better as Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below, is available to download today.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Review: Literally Borderlands 1.5 in Every Way
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Borderlands franchise. I’ve played the first two games for hundreds of hours, and I briefly considered getting Borderlands 2 for the Vita. I was thrilled to find out that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel would fill the gaps between the two games, allowing you to play as Handsome Jack’s cronies and detailing how he came to power. 2K Australia took over on development, working with Gearbox to create the game, and it shows. The Pre-Sequel was rife with glitches, had a weak storyline, and was generally not as fun as the second game. Quality-wise, it felt more like the first, and, at best, could be considered a giant DLC pack. And it’s definitely not worth 2K’s $60 asking price. (more…)
Insert Quarter: A Classic Interview With Ralph “The Father of Video Games” Baer
Insert Quarter is our showcase for some of the best and most interesting writing about video games on the Internet.
Ralph Baer passed away this weekend at the age of 92. After spending all his life as a self-described “tinkerer,” Baer claimed more than 150 patents on various gizmos and doodads including the beloved handheld game Simon. But Baer will probably best be known as the man who invented the home video game console. Game Informer’s Matt Helgeson sat down for an interview with Baer in 2009 and the publication re-ran an expanded version of the conversation today as part of a celebration of the developer’s life.
It is an interesting look inside the mind of a man who contributed so much to the game industry:
Game Informer: What’s your opinion of what games have evolved into?
Baer: It’s utterly amazing. It’s simply the result of the semiconductor industry going sky-high over the last 20 years. I have an early Apple computer; it had 32K of memory. You can go to the store and for $50 buy 10 gigabytes of memory on a semiconductor stick that plugs into a USB. It’s like going from bows-and-arrows to the space age in 20 years.
