The Expendabros, a free Broforce/Expendables 3 crossover is now available on Steam
The Expendables is a testosterone-laden film franchise that gathers together an all-star lineup of 80s action stars for all new adventures, such as this month’s The Expendables 3. Spearheaded by Sylvester Stallone, the film trilogy has roped in Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jean Claude Van Damme, and many others in its pursuit of creating the ultimate 80s movie.
Free Lives’ Broforce is a Contra-like side-scrolling shooter that has won over gamers with its insane run-and-gun action. Dripping with flag-waving patriotism and featuring bro-tastic parodies of those same 80s action stars, it already feels like a game adaptation of the Expendables formula.
So a Broforce/The Expendables 3 crossover seems like the natural fit, doesn’t it?
Enter The Expendabros, a ten-level crossover game that “combines the shock of Broforce with the awe of The Expendables 3 into an all-new ten-mission tour-de-force.” Now available as a free download through Steam, publisher Devolver Digital has taken to calling it “the best thing ever made.”
It’s hard to argue with them.

Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed: Rogue exclusively for PS3, Xbox 360
Today, Ubisoft officially announced the first details of this Fall’s PS3/Xbox 360-exclusive Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. Previously known as “Comet,” practically every rumor we’ve been hearing about the game over the last six months has turned out to be true.
In Rogue, players will take control of Shay Patrick Cormac, a former Assassin who sides with the Templars after a brutal betrayal by his brotherhood. The game will be take place during the middle of the 18th century, specifically the time period covered by the Seven Years War (1756–1763) and the first predicted appearance of Halley’s Comet (1759). Shay will visit “the frozen North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley and New York” during his hunt for Assassins in the concluding chapter of the franchise’s “North American saga.” Shay is a sailor and his preferred method of transportation is his ship, the Morrigan. According to Ubisoft, the naval component in Rogue will be better than ever and add “new weapons to use on both land and sea” to the combat.
Assassin’s Creed: Rogue is in development at Ubisoft Sofia (with assistance from Ubisoft’s Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan, and Bucharest studios) and will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 11.

Original Resident Evil will be resurrected in 2015 on PC, current-gen, next-gen
It’s back for more brrrraaaaaiiiinnnnnssss!
Capcom has announced that they will once again be re-releasing the original Resident Evil… this time for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The 2002 GameCube remake will serve as the basis for this re-release, but Capcom plans to spruce it up a bit more with the latest technology:
Using the latest resolution enhancement and 3D model technology, game resolutions and textures have been significantly upgraded, including 1080p support on next-gen consoles, resulting in characters and backgrounds coming to life in greater detail than ever seen before in Resident Evil. Not only will the graphics impress but the tense sound effects have been fully remastered with 5.1 surround support for a greater gaming atmosphere. Players are now able to choose not only between experiencing the terror at the classic 4:3 ratio or a stunning 16:9 widescreen mode but also the type of control scheme they play with. The classic control scheme remains for fans of the original play style or there’s an alternative scheme where the character moves directly in the direction of the analogue stick, utilizing the standards of the current generation of gaming. Both the control scheme and the display options can be toggled between at any time during gameplay.
So prettier graphics, widescreen support, and a new control scheme… yeah, that’s probably enough to get me to play it again. Resident Evil will be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in early 2015.
Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis Map Pack now available on Xbox Live
Activision and Infinity Ward added the fourth, and final, map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts to the Xbox Live Store today. Once again, the Nemesis Map Pack will add four new maps to Ghosts’ multiplayer mode as well as a new chapter in the cooperative Extinction Mode.
The four maps depict a variety of locales including the abandoned mine in “Goldrush,” the submarine base in “Subzero,” the Chinese village in “Dynasty,” and the futuristic arena of “Showtime.” “Showtime” is actually a reimagined version of “Shipment,” one of the most popular maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The Extinction Mode will also come to an end with “Exodus,” which features a “harrowing escape” from an alien invasion.
Like the other Call of Duty: Ghosts Map Packs, the Nemesis Map Pack will be priced at $14.99. It is also included in the Season Pass, if you’re so inclined to obtain all four Map Packs at a discounted price.
After its period of Xbox exclusivity ends (in roughly a month), the Nemesis Map Pack will be made available for the PC, PS3, PS4 too. (more…)
Ganondorf will join Hyrule Warriors as a playable character
Nintendo uploaded their latest Nintendo Direct video last night and devoted the 30-minute running time solely to Hyrule Warriors.
During that time, they gave players a look at the challenges of Adventure Mode, some of the game’s locations, the return of Gold Skulltulas, and more. One of the biggest things to come out of that “and more” is the news that Ganondorf, Link’s nemesis since the beginning of the series, will be a playable character in the game. The King of Thieves uses a pair of Great Swords and also wields powerful dark magic in his attacks, which you can see in the trailer above. Other villains will stand alongside Ganondorf as playable characters in Hyrule Warriors including Zant (from Twilight Princess) and Ghirahim (from Skyward Sword).
Club Nintendo members will get to play dress-up with Ganondorf as Nintendo announced they’ll receive an alternate costume pack if they purchase Hyrule Warriors within four weeks of its September 26 launch. Other costume packs (including ones based on Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Ocarine of Time) will be available as pre-order bonuses from “select retailers.”
Finally, don’t forget to take a gander at the entire Nintendo Direct for Hyrule Warriors, which is now available on YouTube.
