Gran Turismo Sport pushed back to 2017 by Polyphony Digital

granturismosport-header

Gran Turismo Sport, Polyphony Digital’s multiplayer-focused Gran Turismo spinoff, won’t launch this Fall as originally planned. Instead, CEO Kazunori Yamauchi has announced (via the PlayStation Blog) that the game will now be released sometime in 2017.

According to Yamauchi, Gran Turismo Sport is being delayed so the development team can “perfect” it because they “do not want to compromise the experience in any way”:

From the start this title has been one of our most ambitious undertakings by using the latest technologies, such as physics-based rendering and sound simulations, and Scapes photo mode. In combining these features with a new Sport mode, we are offering a competitive gaming experience to truly reinvent what it means to be a racing game. We’ve been excited and humbled by the response each time that we’ve shared new gameplay with everyone.

However, as we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title. We do not want to compromise the experience in any way.

Yamauchi closed by saying, “We are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date.”

Titanfall 2 Technical Test Impressions: A Heart-Pounding, Pilot-Crushing Good Time

titanfall2-header

I didn’t play much Titanfall when it came out, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. I bought it on sale for PC and played it a little, but not as much as I would have liked to, as I’m just not really a PC gamer. But when I heard Titanfall 2 was coming to the PlayStation 4, I was thrilled. And I was even more excited to hear the developer was hosting an “Open Technical Test” this weekend. I logged in this weekend and I have to admit – Titanfall 2 was way more fun than I thought it would be. I’d say I’m hooked, but it’s more than the grappling hook – it’s the whole package.

See Lara Croft fight zombies in Rise of the Tomb Raider’s “Blood Ties” trailer

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available this Fall in a special 20 Year Celebration Edition, and Crystal Dynamics has added a ton of extra content to the game to mark Lara’s landmark birthday.

The new “Blood Ties” chapter will let players explore Croft Manor, which has become overgrown with weeds and rot after years of neglect. The mansion used to be Lara’s home, but after discovering the secrets her father hid behind its walls, it transforms into “Lara’s Nightmare” as zombies overtake the halls and rooms. You can get a sneak peek at both “Blood Ties” and “Lara’s Nightmare” in the new trailer embedded above.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Edition will be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 11. And don’t forget, PC and Xbox One owners who previously purchased the game will also be able to obtain all the 20 Year Celebration Edition content as standalone downloads or as part of the Season Pass.

Weekly Warp-Up: Nintendo Was in the News A Lot This Week…

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

Have you seen the hamster run through Level 1-1 from Super Mario Bros.? If not, drop everything you’re doing and watch it right now. And after you’re done, dial up the video of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe getting an Olympic-sized assist from Mario during the Closing Ceremony.

Nintendo stayed in the news a lot this week by releasing a series of mini-trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Each clip is under a minute, but Link has been able to display his prowess with the Woodcutter’s Axe, a variety of magical Runes, a razor-sharp sword, and a bunch of arrows.

Elsewhere on Warp Zoned this week, we reviewed Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 and it got a “Mega Meh.”

Looking for more news from the last seven days? You can be find it after the break.

New Retail Releases: World of Warcraft Legion, God Eater 2, Attack On Titan, More

newreleases082816

August is ending, and with it an historically slow Summer for new releases. But the dog days have one last gasp of gaming to give, and it’ll be a particularly interesting week if you love hunting giant monsters…

Blizzard has decided to expand World of Warcraft once again with World of Warcraft: Legion for the PC. The sixth expansion to the wildly popular MMORPG will boost the level cap to 110 and introduce the Immortal Army of Illidan the Betrayer.

The battlefield will be further littered with giant monsters thanks to Bandai Namco’s God Eater 2: Rage Burst, a PS4 game where players use “God Arcs” to battle demonic entities known as Aragami. The Aragami like to chow down on lowly humans, much like the Titans at the center of Koei Tecmo’s Attack On Titan, another adaptation of the popular anime for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Finally this week, players will be able to battle giant monster that they’ve fought before with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’ll be joined by another familiar game on a new platform, as Capcom relaunched Resident Evil 4 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

The complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break.
