All Articles: Far Cry 5

MLB The Show 18, Far Cry 5, The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2, more coming to PS Store this week

A fairly decent-sized batch of new games will be available to download through the PlayStation Store this week.

With Opening Day less than 24 hours away, Sony has launched MLB The Show 18 exclusively for the PS4. Developer Sony San Diego has added a huge number of new Legends to the the baseball sim, as well as an expanded Road to the Show mode, and a revamped Hitting Engine. There aren’t any Major League teams in Montana, and that’s probably just as well, because PS4 players will also be able to win back the fictional Hope County from a doomsday cult in Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 this week.

JRPG fans will find multiple new games on the PlayStation Store this week including The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2 from NIS America and Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings (the finale of the Mysterious saga) from Bandai Namco. Things with wheels are also represented in this week’s update thanks to the launch of THQ Nordic’s MX Vs ATV: All Out and Atari’s RollerCoaster Tycoon: Joyride. And I’m not sure if it has wheels, but Llamasoft brings the tube shooter back to the PS4 in Tempest 4000.

Finally, Telltale will bring Batman: The Enemy Within to a close with Episode 5: Same Stitch.

You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the PlayStation Store after the break. (more…)

New Retail Releases: Far Cry 5, MLB The Show 18, The Alliance Alive, More

A nonet of new releases will be available to purchase from your favorite gaming establishment this week…

Ubisoft is leading the way this week with the launch of Far Cry 5, the latest game in their open-world shooter franchise. This time, players will have to infiltrate a doomsday cult and rescue the citizens of Hope County, Montana from the violent followers of “The Father.” As you might expect, Far Cry 5 will be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Far Cry 5 includes a nice variety of vehicles, and racing fans will get to explore an even bigger garage in THQ Nordic’s MX Vs ATV: All Out for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. MX Vs ATV: All Out will include several different race types (Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Waypoint, Tag, and more), as well as stunt tracks, and online multiplayer.

Baseball fans will also get the chance to play ball this week with Sony’s annual entry in the MLB The Show series, MLB The Show 18, for the PS4.

If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path, a big batch of JRPGs will also make their way to North America this week. Atlus will launch The Alliance Alive for the 3DS; Koei Tecmo’s Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings closes out the “Mysterious” saga on the PS4 and Switch; NIS America will release The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2 for the PS4; and Aksys will pull double duty with Code Realize: Bouquet of Flowers for the PS4 and Code Realize: Future Blessings for the Vita.

Finally this week, WB Games and NetherRealm Studios will launch the Injustice 2: Legendary Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Legendary Edition will package together the original game, as well as every extra character from the Fighter Packs, and exclusive new content.

That’s it for this week’s New Retail Releases report, but we’ll be back in a few days with a look at all the upcoming additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.

The Games of March 2018

Welcome to March, you’re cordially invited to a party for the Nintendo Switch’s first anniversary. While fans surely have plenty of backlogged Switch games to keep them busy, the consolemaker also has one new game on their schedule to mark this milestone. And if you’re a Switch owner, and you’re on the lookout for a new game, you might be interested in Kirby Star Allies.

Kirby’s adventures always feature a unique art style, and that’s something that’s very much in vogue with a few other games set to launch this month including The Behemoth’s Pit People and Level-5’s Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Elsewhere on the release calendar, after a short delay, it looks like Ubisoft is ready to delve deep into the heart of a doomsday cult in Far Cry 5.

Why is the Warp Zoned staff looking forward to these games? You can find out after the break, along with a complete release schedule for all of this month’s new releases. (more…)

Far Cry 5’s Season Pass will include zombies, aliens, the Vietnam War, and Far Cry 3

Believe it or not, but Far Cry 5‘s deep dive into a doomsday cult is one of the more realistic scenarios the franchise has tackled. Which makes it even more baffling that Ubisoft is taking the game’s planned Season Pass into such strange territory.

The Season Pass will include three downloadable expansions, and each one pits players against a rather… different… set of adversaries:

Far Cry 5’s Season Pass

  • Hours of Darkness: Players will travel back in time to Vietnam to battle against Việt Cộng soldiers
  • Dead Living Zombies: Players will face hordes of zombies across multiple b-movie scenarios
  • Lost On Mars: Players will leave Earth behind to go toe-to-claws with Martian arachnids

In addition to the game’s expansions, Season Pass purchasers will also receive a downloadable copy of Far Cry 3 four weeks before its available to the general public. The PS4/Xbox One re-release will be known as the “Classic Edition,” and it’ll be available sometime this Summer. PC players who purchase the Season Pass will receive the full version of Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 5 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 27.

Ubisoft delays Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2

Bad news for Ubisoft fans looking forward to Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2… the publisher has announced that both games have been delayed.

Far Cry 5 was expected to launch for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 27, but it’s been pushed back exactly four weeks (to March 27) so the team at Ubisoft Montreal can add a bit more polish to the game. In the more immediate future, Ubisoft will release a new trailer for Far Cry 5 on Saturday, December 9, at 1:00 AM (Eastern Time):

For Far Cry 5, the extra time will allow the team at Ubisoft Montreal to make some additional improvements that will bring the best, most ambitious Far Cry experience in line with the team’s original vision.

The Crew 2 is also in the works for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and it was originally scheduled to launch in Early 2018. But now it’s release date has been rescheduled for sometime in Spring/Summer 2018:

Meanwhile, The Crew 2 development team at Ivory Tower will use the next several months to perform additional playtests, gather player feedback, and continue working towards delivering an ambitious open-world racing experience that meets the team’s and our players’ expectations.

You can find Ubisoft’s full statement about both delays on the UbiBlog.

Play Far Cry 5 at PAX West 2017

Ubisoft has announced their PAX West 2017 booth will be devoted to one game… Far Cry 5. The open world action game is set to launch for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 27, and players will step into the shoes of a green junior deputy as they go deep undercover to stop a doomsday cult.

Today, Ubisoft announced its PAX West 2017 lineup, inviting fans to take down cultists via aerial dogfights, shootouts and more in an exciting demo of Far Cry 5, at the Ubisoft booth (#605) in Seattle from September 1–4. After a tense exchange with the Project at Eden’s Gate, attendees can get a change of pace and partake in a fishing competition. Competing against eight people, the person who catches the biggest fish in the span of 10 minutes will win a special Far Cry 5 pin.

Ubisoft will also host two panels at PAX West 2017 for their fans. One will offer a deeper look at Far Cry 5, while the other dives back into the world of this Spring’s For Honor:

Far Cry 5
September 2, 2:30 – 3:30 PM (Pacific Time)

Far Cry 5 throws players headlong into a war against the Project at Eden’s Gate, a sinister doomsday cult that has taken over idyllic Hope County, Montana. Join the resistance of Hope County as they rebel against the cult’s dark influence. Hosted by Achievement Hunter’s Jack Pattillo, the panel includes Lead Writer Drew Holmes and the talent bringing the colorful denizens of Hope County to life, Murry Peeters (Grace Armstrong), Martin Roach (Pastor Jerome Jeffries), Steve Byers (Nick Rye) and, that’s right, Boomer the dog.

For Honor
September 4, 2:30 PM (Pacific Time)

Every week, the For Honor dev team presents a live show which connects them directly with their community. Answering questions, providing news and information and oftentimes a big peek behind the curtain of the game’s continuing post-launch development, the Warrior’s Den has become an important touchpoint for transparency and information for players. Now, for the first time ever, the For Honor team will be doing the show live and in person with their community. Join Creative Director Roman Campos Oriola, Game Director Damien Kieken, Lead Designer Bio Jade Adam Granger and Community Developer Eric Pope.

Fans who aren’t able to attend this year’s expo can view the Far Cry 5 panel on PAX’s Twitch channel. Likewise, the For Honor panel will be streamed on For Honor’s Twitch channel.

Ubisoft’s E3 2017 teaser is full of surprises (that Ubisoft doesn’t want to talk about yet)

Ubisoft has a bit of a problem. The publisher wanted to create an “iconic” E3 2017 teaser to get their fans hyped for gaming’s biggest showcase, but unfortunately, most of the games they want to talk about are still shrouded in secrecy.

So what’s a publisher to do? Ubisoft decided to give their fans a few seconds of footage from South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Far Cry 5 interspersed with redacted images from their upcoming Press Conference. Viewers who tune in to the presentation will learn all about a variety of new games including a “Conference Exclusive,” a “New IP Saved for Conference,” and another “Conference Exclusive.”

It’s not much to go on, but we do know that Ubisoft plans to officially announce The Crew 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2017 during this year’s E3 Expo… so two of those slots may already be spoken for.

Ubisoft’s 2017 E3 Press Conference will take place on Monday, June 12, at 4:00 PM (Eastern Time). You can view it at home through Ubisoft.com.
