All Articles: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is available now and here’s a Launch Trailer

Even though Lara Croft’s last adventure was known as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics like to pretend she’s still a Tomb-Raider-In-Training, and that her “Defining Moment” had to wait until 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. So naturally, the publisher and developer have decided to bundle together the concluding chapter of her “Origin Trilogy” and all seven downloadable expansions in a Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition:

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must travel through a magnificent world, filled with the largest tombs in franchise history, hidden secrets, and cunning new enemies. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.

A Launch Trailer highlighting what fans can expect from the package has been embedded above. But the short of it is that you’ll receive the original game, along with a new Challenge Tomb, as well as extra Weapons, Outfits, and Skills, from each expansion (The Forge, The Pillar, The Nightmare, The Price of Survival, The Serpent’s Heart, The Grand Caiman, and The Path Home).

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition can be found on store shelves right now for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’ll also be available to download through Google’s Stadia service beginning on November 19.

Spider-Man swings into view as the best-selling game from September 2018 (and the biggest PlayStation-exclusive launch ever)

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, sells much better than 2K can… Look out! Here comes the Spider-Man!

Insomniac’s Spider-Man was already swinging pretty high prior to its September 7th launch, but according to The NPD Group (via GamesIndustry.biz) the superhero game is also the best-selling game of last month and the biggest PlayStation-exclusive launch ever. Oh, and it also performed 37% better than “the combined launch month sales for all other Spider-Man games released since 1995.”

Wow.

Spider-Man trounced the competition in September, beating out a ton of new releases in the top ten including NBA 2K19 (#2), Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey (#3), FIFA 19 (#4), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (#5), Forza Horizon 4 (#7), Super Mario Party (#9), and NHL 19 (#10).

Below the top ten, several popular titles continued to prove their resiliency. Grand Theft Auto V (#13), Mario Kart 8 (#14), and Minecraft (#20) have all been hanging around the top of the charts for the last four years, and their new-generation re-releases have likely cemented their spot among the best-sellers for another four.

But you can find the full list of last month’s best-selling games after the break. (more…)

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics will close out Lara Croft’s “Origin Trilogy” with the launch of Shadow of the Tomb Raider for the PS4. This time, Lara will travel to South America as she attempts to stop a Mayan apocalypse.

Also available to download this week for the PS4 are a pair of brand new sports simulations. 2K Games brings 20 years of gameplay innovations (and a cover appearance by Giannis “The Greek Freak” Antetokounmpo) to NBA 2K19, while EA Sports tapped P.K. Subban to serve as NHL 19‘s cover athlete.

You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the PlayStation Store after the break. (more…)

New Retail Releases: Shadow of the Tomb Raider, NBA 2K19, NHL 19, More

Lara Croft returns this week, and PS4 and Xbox One owners will be able to pick up the Limited Steelbook Edition or Croft Steelbook Edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The finale to the “Origin Trilogy” will also be available to download for the PC.

Sports fans will also get the chance to dig into a few new titles this week, as 2K Sports will launch NBA 2K19 for the PC (download only) PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. The publisher also teamed up with Microsoft to give prospective Xbox One purchasers the chance to jump right in with the Xbox One S 1TB Console + NBA 2K19 Bundle or the Xbox One X 1TB Console + NBA 2K19 Bundle. And don’t worry, EA Sports won’t be giving sports fans the cold shoulder, and that’s because NHL 19 will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Switch owners will be able to put their crafting skills to the test this week with the release of Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit, the third Labo set from the consolemaker. This time around, players will be able to build a vehicle that transforms between a Car, a Submarine, and a Plane with the included key.

And if you still purchase your PC games on DVD, THQ Nordic will reissue several games previously published by Microsoft this week, including ReCore: Definitive Edition, Super Lucky’s Tale, Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection, and a few others.

A full rundown of this week’s new retail release can be found after the break.
