South Park: The Stick of Truth Review: Douchebag Saves the Day

Based on the long-standing truth that games based on already established properties are usually second-rate, and the fact that the development cycle was troublesome at best, It would be forgivable to assume that South Park: The Stick of Truth would release as a write off. A whole host of problems should have held back the release of this RPG; however, The Stick of Truth is surprisingly fantastic in almost every way. (more…)
XBL Store Today: Walking Dead S2 Ep 2, South Park: Stick of Truth, NASCAR 14

Three new Xbox 360 games have been added to the Xbox Live Game Store today and they surely include something for everybody:
- The Walking Dead Season 2: A House Divided – The second episode of Telltale’s continuing story of Clementine and her run-ins with the living dead is now available. Season Pass owners will be able to download it for free while the rest of us will have to pay $5.
- South Park: The Stick of Truth – Obsidian’s oft-delayed South Park RPG has finally been released after jumping from (the now bankrupt) THQ to Ubisoft and receiving almost a year’s worth of polish.
- NASCAR 14 – Deep Silver takes over publishing duties as Eutechnyx releases another game in the long-runing stock car racing simulation series.
More details on all three titles can be found after the break. (more…)

Walking Dead S2 Ep 2, South Park RPG, Dead Nation PS4, more added to PS Store

Telltale’s Walking Dead Season 2 saga continues this week as the second episode, “A House Divided,” is now available to download for the PS3 through the PlayStation Store. It is joined by several other highly anticipated PS3 titles including South Park: The Stick of Truth, Obsidian’s South Park RPG; NASCAR 14, Deep Silver’s first attempt at stock car racing; and Master Reboot, a sci-fi horror title from Wales Interactive.
Over on the PS4 side of the store, two games that were previously released for the PS3 are now available in expanded editions for Sony’s next generation console. Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition brings its twin-stick shooting to the PS4 where it’s joined by Ronimo’s console-centric MOBA, Awesomenauts Assemble.
Two other games round out this week’s PlayStation Store update: the PS2 Classic Growlanser: Heritage of War and Hatsune Miku Project Diva F, a rhythm game for the Vita.
More details on all of these games can be found after the break. And a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and PlayStation Store sales can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

New Releases: South Park: The Stick of Truth
Just one game will be added to store shelves this week, but it’s a big one… South Park: The Stick of Truth.
If you recall, South Park: The Stick of Truth has been in development at Obsidian Entertainment for a long time. Originally a THQ production, the game shifted to Ubisoft after THQ went bankrupt. Then it was delayed multiple times to ensure that it lived up to all the hype. Does it? You can find out for yourself this week on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
A few more new releases will make their way to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store, and Nintendo eShop this week. We’ll talk more about those titles over the next few days.

South Park: The Stick of Truth’s Super Bowl commercial stars Mr. Hankey
Well, that ad doesn’t star Mr. Hankey, because it’s a little too risque for our front page. The amazing thing in that TV spot, in my opinion, is the quick glimpse of zombie Chef. But you can see “The Return of Mr. and Mrs. Hankey” and “Ginger Kid Nazi Zombie,” the bonus “too hot for TV” trailers, after the jump.
South Park: The Stick of Truth will be out on March 4 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

- Yet another trailer for South Park: The Stick of Truth. But this time, it will include a few words from Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
