Now Blizzard is hiring a Game Director for their “Unannounced Diablo Project”

blizzardlogoBlizzard first mentioned their “Unannounced Diablo Project” back in August in an employment listing for an Art Director.

Today, the developer is once again looking for applicants to join its ranks. More specifically, they want to hire a Game Director for a project that is starting to look more and more like Diablo 4. Blizzard is seeking candidates who are “knowledgeable and passionate about Diablo games” for the position, and they want a person who will “lead the Diablo series into the future.”

Further fueling the Diablo 4 fire is a separate job opening for a Senior Character Artist that refers to the project as “[Blizzard’s] next hit game.”

Blizzard is a developer who works on their own schedule, so it might be quite a while before we see anything connected to Diablo 4. But there’s always this November’s BlizzCon to look forward to.

Blizzard is hiring for an “Unannounced Diablo Project”

blizzardlogoDespite some fan backlash at launch, Blizzard must be very pleased with the success of Diablo III. During their most recent financial report, it was revealed that the game has sold 30 million copies across the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Now it looks like Blizzard is gearing up to release a new entry in the series as an opening for an Art Director who will work on an “Unannounced Diablo Project” was recently posted on Blizzard’s Careers page.

Aside from asking that candidates possess a “deep understanding of the Diablo franchise,” there’s not much information in the listing. At this point, we dont even know if the project is Diablo IV or just a new expansion for Diablo III. And knowing Blizzard, it may be a while before we find out.

However, BlizzCon 2015 is just three months away (November 6-7 in Anaheim, California) and we may learn more about this mystery project then.

Destiny was destined to be the best-selling game of September 2014

destiny-header

After selling more than five million copies in its first week of availability, Bungie’s Destiny easily took the top spot as the best-selling game of September 2014. New releases ruled last month as The NPD Group’s latest report revealed that seven games cracked the top ten.

At #3, EA’s FIFA 15 challenged Destiny for the crown, but came up short. It was followed by Super Smash Bros. For 3DS (#4), Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor (#5), NHL 15 (#6), The Sims 4 (#8), and Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (#9). The only holdovers were Madden NFL 15 (#2), Minecraft (#7), and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls (#10).

According to Joystiq, despite Destiny’s massive success, game industry sales only grew by 2% over September 2013. Of course, September 2013 featured the release of Grand Theft Auto V, a singularly special event, and downloadable titles are constantly eating into retail’s market share. But good luck getting The NPD Group to admit to that.

This months top ten can be found in a handy list format after the break. (more…)

The Xbox One received a pair of new games in this week’s Xbox Live Games Store… and both are all about relaxing.

For example, what’s more relaxing than choosing your character and then busting the heads of a horde of demons? It calms the nerves and it rewards you with copious amounts of loot. I speak, of course, about Diablo III. Blizzard’s action RPG comes to the Xbox One as part of the Ultimate Evil Edition, which includes the original game and the Reaper of Souls expansion.

Also available this week is The Golf Club, a brand new golf simulation from a brand new studio. HB Studios has created a golf game that offers procedurally generated courses for endless rounds of golf. Fore!

More information on both games can be found after the break. (more…)
