All Articles: Forza Motorsport 4
The NPD Group has released their report on the ten bestselling titles in October and, not surprisingly, Battlefield 3 takes the top spot. EA’s modern warfare sim likely won’t hold onto the crown for long as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released to record-breaking sales earlier this week.
Battlefield 3 was followed by a slew of new releases including Batman: Arkham City, NBA 2K12, Rage, Just Dance 3, Dark Souls, and Forza Motorsport 4. That’s right, the brutal action RPG Dark Souls outsold Microsoft’s big racing franchise.
Holdovers for this month include Madden NFL 12, Gears of War 3, and that other football game, FIFA Soccer 12. The complete top ten for October can be found after the break. (more…)
Several very different types of games will drive onto store shelves this week and Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 4 is leading the way. Turn 10’s racing simulator is back for more and now it’s packing a bunch of Kinect-exclusive features as well.
Also available this week is Capcom’s retelling of Dead Rising 2 (from Frank West’s perspective): Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). If you ever wanted to see Mr. I’ve Covered Wars You Know as an overweight wrestler fighting zombies, now’s your chance.
Activision’s ambitious action figure/video game mashup Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is also being released this week. The package (which touts its use of “smart toys”) is a bit pricey, but it’ll be available for the 3DS, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.
Finally this week, we get some new air adventures in Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (PS3, Xbox 360) and some old west adventures in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition (PS3, Xbox 360).
Check out the full list of the rest of this week’s new releases after the break. (more…)
Microsoft and developer Turn 10 turned the key on a ton of big announcements for Forza Motorsport 4 yesterday.
The biggest news is the announcement of the Forza 4 Season Pass. Priced at 2400 Microsoft Points ($30), the Pass will be downloadable on the Xbox Live Marketplace or available from retailers on October 11 (the same day Forza 4 ships to stores). Players purchasing a Pass will gain access to six downloadable content packs (containing 60 cars) that’ll be released between November 2011 and April 2012. Purchased individually, the packs will cost 3600 Microsoft Points ($45), so the Pass works out to a 30% discount.
Pass purchasers will also receive a bonus car pack after the game launches. “The American Muscle Car Pack” will feature ten classic cars including the 1965 Pontiac GTO, 1968 Pontiac Firebird and the 1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock.
If you just can’t wait to take Forza Motorsport 4 for a test drive, Microsoft is planning to release a demo for Xbox Live Gold members on October 3. All other Xbox 360 owners will be able to download it on October 7.
Rounding the final turn, we’ve also learned that Turn 10 plans to offer a “Launch Pack” of five cars for gamers who purchase the Limited Collector’s Edition of Forza 4. The “Launch Pack” will include the 1965 Ford Mustang GT Coupe, the 2011 Koenigsegg Agera, the 1997 Lexus SC300, the 2011 RUF RGT-8 and the 2011 Tesla Roadster Sport.
Finally, Turn 10 has confirmed that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (home of the legendary Indianapolis 500) will be included in Forza 4.
Halo 4’s Warthog pulls into Forza 4’s garage
Dubbed “car porn” by more than one commentator, Forza Motorsport 4‘s Autovista Mode is a Kinect-powered look inside some of the world’s coolest cars. And also some of the coolest cars that aren’t even of this world. That’s right, the new Warthog that the Master Chief will drive in next year’s Halo 4 will be available to ogle in Forza Motorsport 4.
Turn 10 has stressed that you won’t be able to drive the heavy duty vehicle in the game, but if you want a closer look at the Chief’s ride, the trailer above is definitely for you.
Gran Turismo 5 has come and gone without much ado, but now there is a new game on the horizon that will make you hungry for some burnt rubber. Forza Motorsport 4, out October 11, will give you that petrol-filled adrenaline shot you need.
This new trailer from Gamescom 2011 lets you peek into the garage and under the hood of Forza 4. The development team takes along on the journey as they recreate Hockenheim race track in Germany. With military grade GPS and over 10,000 photographs, they are able to convert one of the world’s oldest racetracks into ones and zeroes.
In addition to the “Ship Bonus” car pack exclusively for pre-orders, a “VIP Car Pack” will net you another five additional cars. You’ll also get ten unannounced American classic muscle cars, as well as a custom designed BMW from the “Forza Motorsport 4 BMW Design Challenge.” The 2012 BMW M5 will also be available in the bundle, with a downloadable theme featuring the car and special recognition in lobbies and leaderboards. As far as tangible goods, you’ll get a host of stickers and a 96 page art book, “Cars of Motorsport 4 Presented by Top Gear.”
Head over to the official page for full details.
Check it out. That is a Ferrari 458 Italia. Don’t you just want to drive it? Well, you’ll get your chance soon as Turn 10 Studios has selected the 458 as the cover car for Forza Motorsport 4.
The racing sim will be available in a regular edition and a Limited Collector’s Edition this Fall. Information on the Limited Collector’s Edition are still being kept tightly under wraps, but Microsoft was willing to share details on the retailer-specific pre-order bonuses.
You can read all about those (and the day one “Ship Bonus” car pack) after the break. (more…)
