EA and Respawn Entertainment will storm their way into stores this week with Titanfall 2 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In addition to expanded multiplayer options, Titanfall 2 will include a single-player campaign for the first time. We can finally say it… Your Titanfall sequel is ready.

Also available this week is World of Final Fantasy, a new “chibi” RPG from Square Enix that celebrates the grand history of the Final Fantasy franchise. Designed primarily for a younger audience, PS4 and Vita players will still need to save the world from an evil mastermind. Thankfully, they’ll be aided by dozens of heroes from previous games in the series.

If you’d rather skip all the fighting and just dance, Ubisoft has you covered with the launch of Just Dance 2017 on the PC, PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Just Dance 2017 includes dozens of songs, and the new Just Dance Machine mode, which will throw an assortment of different dance styles at players.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition will make its PC, PS4, and Xbox One debut this week, as Bethesda plans to relaunch their epic RPG on a new generation of platforms. And Telltale will bring together Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure on a single disc for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Finally this week, one of my favorite puzzlers of the year, Tumblestone, will receive a retail release on the PS4 and Wii U.

A complete list of this week’s new retail releases can be found after the break. (more…)

Ubisoft has multiple games in development for Nintendo’s NX

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft is often referred to as a “megapublisher” by its fans because they typically release dozens of games a year across every conceivable platform. And it’s beginning to look like Nintendo’s NX won’t be an exception.

During this year’s E3 Expo, Ubisoft announced that Just Dance 2017 would be released for the NX next year. Yesterday, Alain Corre, the Executive Director of Ubisoft’s EMEA Division, revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that the company actually has multiple NX titles in development:

“We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing,” Corre tells me. “Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families… I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system.”

Ubisoft currently plans to release two games for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One next year… medieval free-for-all For Honor, and the cartel-busting Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands. But as of today, it’s unknown if either of these games is also in development for the NX, which will launch in March 2017.

And then there’s always the possibility that Ubisoft has something completely unique in store for the NX.

Aside from a handful of game announcements, Nintendo’s NX is still shrouded in mystery (though that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill). Besides Just Dance 2017, Nintendo will release The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for their new console in 2017, while Sega plans to publish Project Sonic sometime next Fall.

Just Dance 2017 is dancing its way to every platform this October (and the NX next year)

The Just Dance franchise just can’t stop, and Ubisoft announced the next entry in the series will be available this October. Just Dance 2017 will be released for the… deep breath… PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. But wait, there’s more. Just Dance 2017 will be available for the PC as well, a first for the franchise, and it’ll also be released for Nintendo’s NX console next year.

Just Dance 2017 will feature the brand new Just Dance Machine mode on the PC, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One, which Ubisoft said is a “fun and frantic dance experience that will have players testing their skills through a variety of dance types including flamenco, ballet, and the cancan.” Returning modes include Sweat + Playlists, Just Dance Quest, Just Dance TV, and World Dance Floor.

But what will players bust a move to this year? The first 11 confirmed songs include:

  • Justin Bieber – “Sorry”
  • Psy (featuring CL of 2NE1) – “Daddy”
  • Sia (featuring Sean Paul) – “Cheap Thrills”
  • Major Lazer (featuring MØ & DJ Snake) – “Lean On”

  • Queen – “Don’t Stop Me Now”
  • Hatsune Miku – “PoPiPo”
  • Dyro & Dannic – “Radical”
  • Maluma – “El Tiki”
  • Equinox Stars – “September”
  • Ultraclub 90 – “What Is Love”

Ubisoft will also release a Gold Edition of Just Dance 2017, which features a three-month subscription to the Just Dance Unlimited streaming service. And the PC, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One versions of the game will once again be compatible with the Controller App for smartphones.

Gameplay videos for all 11 confirmed tracks can be found after the break. (more…)
