FIFA 17 will use the Frostbite Engine for the first time when it launches this September
Soccer fans will have an all-new FIFA experience to try out this Fall, as EA Sports has announced that FIFA 17 will be developed using the publisher’s Frostbite Engine for the first time. In development at EA Vancouver, the publisher believes their Frostbite technology will add “depth and emotion” to the pitch when FIFA 17 is released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this September.
“Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans,” said David Rutter, the Executive Producer on the FIFA franchise. “We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.”
To create the most authentic game possible, EA Sports also recruited four world-class players to lend their expertise to the EA Vancouver team: James Rodriguez of Real Madrid, Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC, and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund. We’ll get our first look at FIFA 17’s evolution during the EA’s EA Play E3 Presentation on Sunday, June 12, at 4:00 PM.
The Frostbite-powered FIFA 17 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 27. The game will also be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, though without any of the improvements found in the new-generation version.

World of Final Fantasy will be released for PS4, Vita on October 25
With three mainline Final Fantasy games currently in various stages of development (XV this Fall, a XII remaster next year, and the VII Remake probably sometime after that), it’s easy to forget about World of Final Fantasy, a mashup game that melds together classic characters and a toy-like aesthetic:
In World of Final Fantasy, players lead a pair of twins, Reynn and Lann, through the land of Grymoire on a search to rediscover their lost memories. Throughout their adventure, players will collect, raise and battle adorable beings of classic Final Fantasy lore, including Cactuar, Chocobo and Behemoth, to create customizable, strategic tower combinations to take on the most challenging of opponents.
Square Enix recently announced that World of Final Fantasy will be released for the PS4 and Vita on October 25. The publisher also unveiled a brand new E3 2016 trailer for the game, which means we’ll surely learn more about it during the biggest showcase in gaming next week.

Nordic Games is “evaluating” a few options to bring back the Destroy All Humans! franchise

Nordic Games has slowly been raising their profile with players around the world since they won big at the THQ bankruptcy auction back in 2013. Two years after confirming that pre-production work has begun on Darksiders III, Nordic is getting ready to resurrect another fan-favorite THQ franchise: Destroy All Humans!
Replying to a question on Twitter, Nordic’s Business & Product Development Director, Reinhard Pollice, said the publisher is currently weighing their options on how best to proceed with a new entry in the Destroy All Humans! franchise:
@Gaming4Fun1 there are a few options we are evaluating now. Hope to get started on one of these soon
— Reinhard Pollice (@ElMegalomator) June 5, 2016
It’s been a long time since we last saw the alien “heroes” of Destroy All Humans! in a new game (THQ released Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon nearly a decade ago), and while Nordic might be looking at their options, we’re probably still in for a pretty long wait. But the Destory All Humans! franchise built up quite a large fanbase over the years thanks to its quirky sense of humor (myself included), and if Nordic is committed to continuing the franchise, then that’s OK by me.

Volition will deploy Agents of Mayhem on PC, PS4, Xbox One in 2017
After announcing their newest project this morning, it looks like Volition has decided to give the Saints Row series a rest. Although its possible the Third Street Saints may make an appearance in Agents of Mayhem, as the developer’s next game will take place in the same universe as the Saints Row saga.
Described as a “new comic hero universe” by publisher Deep Silver, Agents of Mayhem is packed to the brim with colorful characters, whom you can meet in the lengthy Cinematic Announcement Trailer embedded above.
In a simultaneous global assault, LEGION [League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations] has taken control over the nations of the world and the only force left to stop them is MAYHEM [Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds]. Led by the mysterious and no-nonsense Persephone Brimstone, MAYHEM’s elite Super Agents are called to the city of Seoul, South Korea. Led by LEGION Minister Doctor Babylon and his diabolical lieutenants, a nefarious plot is set in motion to build a world-altering device that will grant unrivaled power to the supervillain organization. In order to stop LEGION and take back the world, the Agents of Mayhem will traverse a sprawling urban battlefield from the ground to the rooftops and team up as a super-agent collective to stop LEGION at any cost.
Agents of Mayhem will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime next year, but we’ll get another extended look at the open world superhero title at this year’s E3 Expo.
Guerrilla unveiled a new trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn… but also delayed its release to February 2017
If you’ve got three minutes, I highly recommend sitting down to watch the latest Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer. It’s fantastic, and provides plenty of new insights into the character of Aloy and the fusion of high technology and lumbering beasts in her post-apocalyptic world.
Unfortunately, this gift comes with a price, and Guerrilla Games sadly announced a short delay for Horizon: Zero Dawn on the PlayStation Blog today. Previously scheduled to launch in late 2016, the game’s release has now been pushed back to February 28, 2017. Here’s what Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla’s Managing Director, had to say about the delay:
As you can see in the trailer, we’ve decided to push the release date for Horizon: Zero Dawn to February 28, 2017. It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it. However, we also want to ensure that Horizon: Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is exclusively in development for the PS4 and will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

International Edition of Final Fantasy XII will be released for PS4 in 2017
It’s a good time to be a Final Fantasy fan. Square Enix is currently hard at work on a brand new chapter (Final Fantasy XV), as well as a full remake of the most popular entry in the series (Final Fantasy VII). Today, the publisher added a high definition remaster of Final Fantasy XII to their schedule.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will be based on the previously Japan-only “International Zodiac Job System” version of the game. In addition to the never-before-seen character job progression system hinted at in the title, the remaster will also include the following features:
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Features
- Latest-generation high-definition graphical capabilities, including characters and movie scenes fully remastered in high-definition.
- True 7.1 surround sound, including high-definition voicing and newly recorded background music utilizing the current generation of sound production.
- Option to switch between the original and the newly remastered soundtrack.
- New Trial Mode where players can take on monsters and enemies in up to 100 successive battles.
- Modern gameplay advancements including PlayStation 4 system Trophy support and Share functionalities, auto-save and shortened loading times.
- An endless amount of gameplay and adventure including hunts, battles, and mini-games.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will be exclusively released for the PS4 sometime next year, but first, Square Enix plans to put the remaster on display at this year’s E3 Expo, which will be held in Los Angeles next week.
